Commercial Design_Summer 2014_Tapas Restaurant
INTRODUCTION Tapas In Spain, dinner is usually served between 9 and 11 p.m. (sometimes as late as midnight), leaving significant time between work and dinner. Therefore, Spaniards often go “bar hopping (Spanish: Ir de tapas) and eat tapas in the time between finishing work and having dinner. Since lunch is usually served between 2 and 4 p.m., another common time for tapas is weekend days around noon as a means of socializing before proper lunch at home.
It is very common for a bar or a small local restaurant to have eight to 12 different kinds of tapas in warming trays with glass partitions covering the food. They are often very strongly flavored with garlic, chilies or paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, saffron and sometimes in plentiful amounts of olive oil. Often, one or more of the choices is seafood (mariscos), often including anchovies, sardines or mackerel in olive oil, squid or others in a tomato-based sauce, sometimes with the addition of red or green peppers or other seasonings. It is rare to see a tapas selection not include one or more types of olives, such as Manzanillo or Arbequina olives. One or more types of bread are usually available to eat with any of the sauce-based tapas.

CITY HALL SKETCHING
San Francisco City Hall San Francisco City Hall is the seat of government for the City and County of San Francisco, California. Re-opened in 1915 in its open space area in the city’s Civic Center, it is a Beaux-Arts monument to the City Beautiful movement that epitomized the high-minded American Renaissance of the 1880s to 1917.
The present building replaced an earlier City Hall that was destroyed during the 1906 earthquake, which was 2 blocks from the present one. The structure’s dome is the fifth largest in the world—taller than that of the United States Capitol by 42 feet. The principal architect was Arthur Brown, Jr., of Bakewell & Brown, whose attention to the finishing details extended to the doorknobs and the typeface to be used in signage.

Air flow circulation Because of the mountain top location, it becomes an advantage for air flow ciruclation. Wind will goes through the east side of building to the west side. With the windows and channels being designed to trap the air flow, it helps to maintain the building cool during summer and warm during winter with the trapped sunlight heat.

INTRODUCTION
Spa A spa is a location where mineral-rich spring water (and sometimes sea water) is used to give medicinal baths. Spa towns or spa resorts (including hot springs resorts) typically offer various health treatments, which are also known as balneotherapy. The belief in the curative powers of mineral waters goes back to prehistoric times. Such practices have been popular worldwide, but are especially widespread in Europe and Japan. Day spas are also quite popular, and offer various personal care treatments.

Autobiography As an insightful person who possesses a strong artistic sense, I have developed a great interest in fine arts and design. The beauty of architecture and everything else that shows a designer’s ingenuity attracted me to interior architecture. Gradually, I became keen on design, especially that which could improve or uplift the standards of people’s lives. I chose Environment Design as my major at the School of Design, Jiangnan University in Wuxi, China. Being fully exposed to the knowledge of design, I was able to learn and form a solid foundation in studying architecture. During my junior year in college I got a chance to conduct research on Seismic Resistance and Preservation of Construction in Southwestern China. The research aims at preserving the local culture and analyzing construction methods in the ethnic minority regions, combined with investigating minority residents in Southwestern Yunnan Province. After researching, I successfully concluded a series of general methods to transform designs and anti-seismic methods for the preservation of historical buildings. The research experience not only endowed me with comprehensive understanding for the significance of preserving historical buildings, but it also gave us a magnificent picture of ethnic minority architecture. I was fascinated with the creativity and culture of the local people; thus an idea came into my mind. I should go to other countries to explore diverse cultures and plunge myself into the sea of inspiration. Gaining knowledge of different culture will greatly benefit my career and equip my mind with ingenious ideas beyond description. Therefore, after I received my bachelor degree, I decided to come to US to get an advanced degree. I chose the Master’s program in Interior and Architecture design at the Academy of Art University originates from my desire to receive a first-rate graduate education. The school program provided innovative approaches in materials, usage, lighting and spatial organization that create dynamic interior designs. I really enjoyed gaining knowledge in understanding design concepts, developing an affinity for details, learning and mastering skill sets with various design tools. In addition there are advantages associating with faculty members who have a close partnership with others in the industry. In the near future I will be benefit from an internship program using the most updated technologies and information that will advance my career.

I have been inspired by art and design since I was three. When I was a child I was already determined to become a professional interior designer. I worked very hard to get one step at a time closer. I want to see my clients happy, satisfied and in love with the environments that I designed for them.
