A POSSIBLE WAY FOR FUN IN CITY
DESCRIPTION This project is located at Shinjuku, Tokyo. An office building with two layers inside mall is located beside the site. The goal of this project is to create a place for scattering flow of people, and offering spaces for them to stop. There are three different spaces in the site. One flat space leads people get into the building; one sinking space offers a quiet atmosphere; one green lawn enables people to finding a nature place in the city. A big fine art sculpture made by thousands of light bulbs is located in the center space. When in the night, plenty of light bulbs in the air assemble to a floating cloud. That is where the name “Cloud Land comes from.
CONCEPT How to create a functional place in the big city, especially Shinjuku is a crowded gathering place. The goal is to design a multi-layer of spaces and offer different functions in the limited area. The concept is from cloud. Cloud is a flexible aggregation object, which could contain different parts, as well as extend and shrink. If the site could borrow the form and concept of could, that will make the land filled with lots of possibility. The spaces are designed and separated into four parts, just like an aggregation object. A cloud-shape sculpture illuminates the concept as well.

NATURE SPACE The middle place enables flow of people passing through. The space has function as exhibition and display place. There are two art devices called Hourglass Wall and Cloud Lamp, which are displaying the theme and increasing people’s interaction with the place. The atmosphere is liveliness and dynamic.
FLOWING SPACE
The left part is aimed at offering quiet place for people. The boundary of the space is constructed by plants and flower beds, which another side is Hourglass Wall. Human has inclination to observe other people in the public space. The holes on the double-sided wall enable people’s view to penetrate.
SINKING SPACE The atmosphere in right part is defined by a sinking place and big trees. However, there is a water pool and fountain on the joint of middle place and right part. The water voice could stimulate people’s feeling. As a result, people’s feeling and emotion rises and falls with the rhythm of water.

A POSSIBLE WAY FOR LIVING IN THE CITY
DESCRIPTION At present, one invisible collision between government decision and ordinary people is desire for better urban environment and long to see again of losing land. In order to speeding up the process of urbanization, most of people are compelled to leave their root and leave the land for building skyscrapers. Urban is improved in the circle of dismantling constantly, however, as for ordinary people they are fixed on vicious circle. The Market is the largest market in Szchuan. It also contains residential buildings. This project is trying to find a fair way to protect people far away from leaving their land when there is an improvement project on the land.
CONCEPT A Chinese traditional game called Huarong Game enables people improving living environment without been expelled to other place. The game moves different blocks to the target. On two-dimensional surface, which has limitation area that each block merely could move by adjusting other blocks’ positions. As a result, each moving is involved in other blocks’ moving. The similarity between Huarong Game game and site is they both have limited space and buildings as blocks. In this way, residents could stay on their land and also could be involved in improvement of living environment.

A POSSIBLE WAY FOR BLENDING IN CITY
DESCRIPTION The goal of this project is to connect different space, and create suitable space between industrial district and rural district. The stiff boundary between development district and backward district can be seen everywhere in Chengdu. The site is located at a typical place in Chinese urban edge. It is enclosed by Qingbaijiang’s industrial area, however, just at one 0.6 mile away is the most typical Szchuan countryside land form called Forest of Western Szchuan, Which is constructed with four elements, namely “ tree, water, building, cropland”.
CONCEPT This place not only could offer activity space for workers and residents around it, but also has destination on subliming the significance of land. The theme is collision between industrialization and countryside. The peace and green lifestyle has been disturbed by industrialization, since less cropland, more pollution. As for industry area, workers need green and open space to reduce pressure. Therefore, this project’s location enables itself to offer a fusion space. Although this site can’t totally and immediately improve the quality of life and environment. It can represent and remind people don’t forget the culture, as well as stimulate them to fight for better future.

A POSSIBLE WAY FOR CONNECTION IN CITY
DESCRIPTION The Scioto River has been playing a role in connecting the city both geographically and historically. The intention of this project is to create a visible form to express the connectedness of underground infrastructures. Moreover, this project offers an opportunity for people intimately experience the dynamic quality of the river.
CONCEPT Scioto River is a natural boundary divides the city into different parts. Human built plenty of bridges to cross the river, isolating it from the basic urban structural pattern. However, the river collects most water run-off through the sewer system from the lands, making a sense that the city is an integral subject from an underground infrastructure perspective. On the other hand, the river also connects the past and future of Ohio; people found ways to extract the physical power from river during Industrial Revolution, and environmental friendly ways to release waste into river nowadays.
