Luna’s Quest

Ashley Reyes-Herrera, Age 10

Ashley, age 10, lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She likes to write because it helps her have fun and focus. In addition to writing, she enjoys playing with her dog and showing off Butter Cup, her hamster stuffed animal. Her best friend inspires Ashley’s writing. She would like to live in a world where Butter Cup was real.

Author Note: I would like to thank my best friend for helping me with a few ideas. This story is about her and me. Luna, which is me and her as Harper. She has always been a part of my life ever since we met on the bus to school. From falling down to getting up, she has always been there for me and I'm thankful for that!

Luna’s Quest

This is Luna and she floated into Moon Kingdom and right now she is in her apartment setting things up because of what happened yesterday. She is with her hamster Buttercup and her cat Peanut. She named her Peanut because she loves food. And she is on a quest to find her mom . . . and she's done setting up her apartment! Oh, and there's a knock at the door! I wonder who it would be? Peanut comes running to the door, and Luna comes along, and opens the door and it's her best friend and schoolmate Harper! Harper is saying, “Hey girl! Want to come to the mall with me and get outfits and food?” “Sure, Harper!” And they go walking to the mall. They get some matching clothes and food. Luna even brings a teeny tiny container for her cat and hamster, so when she gets food from the mall she can put some of it in the container. When they were walking to the mall, Harper slipped and hurt herself and Luna quickly made a healing potion . After that, she goes back home and sees a picture of her mom in a photo. And then and there, she decides that she will go on a quest to find her mom. The next day, she packs some food, a sweater, her phone, and some money in her backpack and sets off to find her mom. But what she doesn’t know is that her mom is the queen of Moon Kingdom. A while later, she starts to think her mom is not even on this planet. But as soon as she is going near the castle, a guard stops her and says, “You can't go anywhere near the castle.'' Luna says, “OK.” But she wonders if her mother is in the castle. The next day, she hears a knock at the door and there stands a guard with a note that reads: “The queen is looking for her lost daughter. Please make your way to the castle.” And then the guard leaves. Luna makes a plant with her imagination to give to the queen and set off. So, as she is walking to the castle, her phone buzzes. Harper is texting. There it read, “Luna no vas a creer cuanta gente hay cerca de el castillo!” And as she looks up, she thinks, Omg! She wasn't joking. As Luna walks up the steps, a guard says, “Follow me.” And there she is questioned. When she goes to see the queen, Harper is there recording, and the queen asks her some questions, and yes! She is the Queen's daughter! She is crying happy tears.
