Today was just another day at Rosedale Middle School. Jerome felt everything about his school was boring. Jerome’s classmate Murray claimed the most exciting part of school was switching subjects. But he was in for a big surprise. It was November 1. His school had a celebration called, “The Large Return.” Jerome didn’t pay nearly enough attention to know what the local holiday was about. His friend Jack dared Jerome to take extra candy on his “Sea of Time.” The ceremony was starting. “Jerome!” yelled Principal Simone. Jerome stepped up to the off door. Mrs. Simone used a long stick and tapped it on the keyhole. Jerome entered a foggy room. Suddenly, glowing lights emerged. The door shut behind him. There was a glowing red door ahead of him with a huge lock. Many boxes of candy emerged in front of him.
