Light

Reading is a guessing game.

Thanks to the Internet, we can now access news as soon as it is being reported. However, due to a lack of restrictions about who can post what online, fake news sometimes makes an appearance. The following are two articles that have tricked the public. In 2014, a false iPhone 6 advertisement showed up on the Internet. It claimed that the iPhone 6 came with a special new feature, so users could charge their phones by putting them into a microwave. Hundreds of iPhone owners fell for it, and destroyed their phones by microwaving them. Angry about the results, many of them posted photos of their phones shortly after frying them. Internet、fake news、a false iPhone 6 advertisement、fell for it

Every year, millions of tons of old electronic products are thrown away by people all over the world. We are living in the digital age, and our digital garbage is really piling up. This kind of garbage is called electronic waste, or e-waste, and it includes computers, telephones, smartphones, tablets, fax machines, printers, refrigerators, and many other kinds of electronic products. VII

Who、What、When、Where、 Why、How,這些問題便是能幫助讀者確認文章內容的良好閱讀策略,建議讀者可 以一邊閱讀、一邊在空白處記下問題的答案,提問的問題愈多就愈能找出文章的內 容走向。

Jake Hemingway first came to Taiwan in 2006. After studying at the National Chiao Tung University in Hsinchu, then trying a few failed business ideas, he decided to make his own brand, called “Rewriting Rules.” Rather than making a profit, the main goal of his brand was to encourage young people to follow their dreams. In order to launch his brand and promote his ideas, he hopped on his skateboard one day and rode all the way from Taipei to Kenting. “I hardly prepared anything. I just brought NT$2,000, a change of clothes, and a GoPro camera,” he said.

According to the story, Moses, a Jewish leader, helped his people escape from Egypt, where they were prisoners. After crossing the Red Sea, they settled at the base of Mount Sinai. On the third day, there was a large storm on the mountain. God was there and wanted to talk to Moses. Moses climbed the mountain and was gone for 40 days and 40 nights. When Moses finally returned, he was carrying tablets of stone on which the Ten Commandments were written. However, in his absence, his people had given up on God

VIII

and were praying to a golden idol. This went against one of the commandments, which was “You shall have no other gods before me.” Moses broke the tablets in anger, but God later repaired them.

將 According to the story、同位語 a Jewish leader、副詞子句 where they were prisoners 刪除後,我們可以簡單地抓出這個句子主要結構為:Moses helped his people escape from Egypt.

According to the story, Moses, a Jewish leader, helped his people escape from Egypt, where they were prisoners.

Moses helped his people escape from Egypt.

When it comes to shaking hands, customs vary from one culture to another. The classic handshake that you are probably familiar with is when two people grasp each other’s right hand and move them up and down together. But even this friendly gesture can be done in different ways. In Japan, people prefer a soft handshake, while Americans believe that a firm one indicates a confident person. In Brazil, you might notice that handshakes last a really long time. However, in countries such as Thailand, people don’t even touch hands. What they do is face the other person and put their hands together like they are praying.

The classic handshake that you are probably familiar with is when two people grasp each other’s right hand and move them up and down together.

The classic handshake is when two people grasp each other’s right hand and move them up and down together.

My Part-Time Summer Job Today was my first day back at school after summer. For the last two months, I had a part-time job. Before summer, I wasn’t sure whether I was ready for it. But after I made the decision to seek1 a job, my parents encouraged2 and supported3 me. My job was working for a company that supplies workers for events. Every day I worked in a different place. One day I could be checking tickets at a concert4, and the next day I could be selling fried food at an outdoor festival. At first, I was very nervous5 about my job. Every day I worked with different staff6 and it was so hard to remember their names. Each event required7 different skills. For example, one day I was picking up1 garbage after a beach party, so I needed to handle the burning sun. Another day I was making a list2 of all the products8 in a shop, so I had to write down things quickly and correctly. All in all3, having a part-time job was not an easy task9, but I learned so much. What’s more4, I can now save my earnings10 for a rainy day5. If you are a student thinking of getting a part-time job, I think it is a good idea!
