R V I E W How did your interest in film first occur?
Jamie: I watched the film Gummo which is directed by Harmony Korine, and was fascinated by it; I then went into a yearlong obsession with all of his films, especially Kids. It made me want to direct and this was the first time I was really passionate about an interest. Where have your skills developed? Jamie: Well my brother runs a successful monthly club night in Glasgow so I sparked up a conversation about films and photography with a friend one night that shoots for club nights and he let me shadow him. I also study the course at College which has really helped me learn and develop my filming skills. Have you had any relevant professional work? Jamie: Yeah, I now work at Kushion, Viper and Shimmy at the weekends taking club photographs, not really my style but I get experience and the pay is really decent. Experimenting with film is definitely more my interest. Why did you pick Leo as a subject for your project? Jamie: I kind of made friends with him initially out on town one night because I really just speak to anyone when I am out and became fascinated by everything he was saying and the stories he told, I thought it would be a pretty interesting documentary film which I am extremely passionate about.
