Design for Hypertension
What are common symptoms of hypertension? Hypertension is called a "silent killer". Most people with hypertension are unaware of the problem because it may have no warning signs or symptoms. For this reason, it is essential that blood pressure is measured regularly. When symptoms do occur, they can include early morning headaches, nosebleeds, irregular heart rhythms, vision changes, and buzzing in the ears. Severe hypertension can cause fatigue, nausea, vomiting, confusion, anxiety, chest pain, and muscle tremors. The only way to detect hypertension is to have a health professional measure blood pressure. Having blood pressure measured is quick and painless. Individuals can also measure their own blood pressure using automated devices, however, an evaluation by a health professional is important for assessment of risk and associated conditions.

How can the burden of hypertension be reduced? Reducing hypertension prevents heart attack, stroke, and kidney damage, as well as other health problems. Prevention • Reducing salt intake (to less than 5g daily) • Eating more fruit and vegetables • Being physically active on a regular basis • Avoiding use of tobacco • Reducing alcohol consumption • Limiting the intake of foods high in saturated fats • Eliminating/reducing trans fats in diet Management • Reducing and managing mental stress • Regularly checking blood pressure • Treating high blood pressure • Managing other medical conditions

Concerns about life
53.36% and 19.40% of people aged 55-64 and 65 or older have used the Internet daily or almost daily in the past 3 months, respectively. The number of people who have used the Internet every day or almost every day in the past 3 months over the age of 65 and 19.40 is 33.96 percentage points lower than 53.36% of 55-64.
55-64 and 65-year-olds worry most about their own health problems. 55 ~ 64 years old and 65 years old and older who are currently worried about their lives account for 78.47% and 69.96% of the two age groups, the most worrying about their own health problems, accounting for 60.27% and 54. 20%.
In terms of geographical differences, the daily or almost daily use rate was highest in those living in the eastern and northern regions, accounting for 22.71 and 21.05, respectively. Observed by gender, 22.87 males were higher than females 16.45.
In addiction, "The problem of taking care of yourself" is between 30% and 50%, and the problem of "source of finance" is between 20% and 40%. Observed by sex, women in both age groups were more worried than men.

Salt drying testing
Because it is found that the salt has agglomeration problems, using fried rice to dry it has no safety concerns, and the production method is very simple. Pour the rice directly into the pot, stir-fry until golden brown, then pour it on a plate and let it cool, wait for a while and then put it in the rice cake. We tested a total of 36 combinations, observed the dryness of salt under different variables, and worked out the most appropriate ratio of salt and rice.

Sketch
We focused on kitchenware and seasonings, and drew a lot of concept sketches. In the early stage, there was something about the uniformity of the seasoning in the dishes, so as to prevent users from adding it repeatedly after trying the taste. There are also some about the total amount of sodium in various seasonings, so it is conceived to return to the base after use, and analyze the weight change through the electronic scale in the base. After discussion we decided to design a product that "controls the amount of salt added during cooking". The main body is inspired by an hourglass. It is hoped that the salt will flow down over time like smooth sand. When users appreciate the beautiful flow, they will also limit the amount of salt. The hand-held pen type is different from the traditional spoon-spooning salt, which is even smaller in one amount, which helps to reduce hypertension.

Flow and Institution Experiment Hourglass for flowing salt After drying, the salt texture becomes smooth, but it is still lumpy in the beginning, and it needs to be dispersed through a stirring process in order to smoothly flow down like an hourglass. Initially, we divided the container into an inner layer and an outer layer. The inner layer was in the form of a screen to test the relationship between the flow rate of different holes. Later, it was found that the inner and outer layers were easy to jam. Instead, it was replaced with a manual fan blade, and the effect of the shape and angle of the fan blade was tested.
Salt pen spray test Considering the size of the salt particles and the amount sprayed by each electric spray, we made multiple adjustments to the shape and size of the inner wall at the exit of the salt pen. We also tested the placement of steel balls of different sizes, and finally selected the most appropriate flow rate.

Testing the way elderly people hold salt pens
In the interview results, most of the elders were used to taking salt with a spoon or directly pinching the salt with their fingers. It was difficult to pinch the amount of salt and it was easy to add too much salt. The use of a salt pen to spread salt increases the swing angle and strength of the hand, but the amount of spray at a time is even smaller, helping the elderly to reduce the amount of salt virtually. The light movement of the hand also echoes the elegance of the product.

User Flow Genera l daily operation After each use, the base scale will detect the weight change, record and display the remaining usage today. Over a long period of time, users are subtle and gradually become accustomed to healthy and appropriate salt use.

Special operations Special operations occur frequently, and users are easy to forget, so the interface on the base cup will remind you regularly and provide simple teaching in the mobile app.
Add 80 grams of fresh salt to the body. After 8 hours, you can rotate the lid and stir the inside to dry the salt and let it flow down naturally.
The fried rice will lose its drying effect after being stored for several weeks. At this time, it is necessary to open the rice trough inside the lid for replacement. Dry 5 grams of raw rice, stir-fry until golden and let cool.

Origin
When I used a TATUNG rice cooker, I found that many droplet condensed on the lid of the cooker after cooking. Therefore, I carefully held the lid to prevent the droplets from falling.
Problem Finding
Whenever you cook something, pick up the pot and pot lid, the lid will be covered with a small droplet of water. In order to prevent the drops from falling everywhere, you should carefully pick up the lid. In addition, the use of the lid can speed up the time of cooking. However, the water vapor will condense on the lid, and the full water will block the ingredients, so that the food is not cooked.

I use d 3D printer to test the size of handle whether it is suitable to every one, and used stereo lithography to test whether the droplets can attact on the holes of leaf. Then, I tried to install it on the general pot lid.

Have you ever had made water droplets everywhere by opening the lid? When cooking, you pick up the lid, and the lid will be covered with a small droplet of water. In order to prevent the drops from falling everywhere, you might pick up the lid carefully. In addition, a lid can speed up the time of cooking. However, the droplets will condense on the lid, and the full water will block food, so that food is not cooked.
When turning the handle, the droplets will adhere to the TOMAFUTA. Therefore, you can see the food in the pot, and no small drops of water will drop when you take out of the lid.

"opening a door" has become a common thing in our daily lives, and it has become a part of our subconscious mind. Many people are unaware of opening a door.
Use footsteps to determine who it is
People often use footsteps outside the door to judge who is coming. They don't need to look at it to know who it is because everyone's pace is different.
Thus, we associate with that the force which different people push the door is also different. People can use this to judge who is back. How to transform force into other forms is a question we need to think about. So we started a series of tests.

At the beginning, we wanted to add a stringed resonance box above the door frame and a pick on the door. When the door is opened, it will pluck the string and make a sound. But we found that if the resonance box is not big enough, the sound is not good and loud enough

Different metals
We found that the sound of metal collision is very nice, and the sound of different metals colliding with each other are also different. When people open and close the door, those metals collide with each other, and there will be a crisp sound like " ding ding dong dong". In this way, the metal will make different sounds because of the different force of each person to open the door.

Following the most comfortable posture and angle, "grip" is the most unburdened action of the hand. Design for Taiwanese indigenous-Kavalan Kavalan is located in the northwest of Taiwan. This group has inherited a traditional craft from generation to generation.They scraped off the bark of the banana tree, scraped into strips of banana shreds, dried the banana shreds and rolled them into threads. Then, they made banana shreds into clothes, bags or buckets.

WHAT PRODUCT?
Design goal Through the products made of banana shreds, we hope that the general people know Kavalan and promote this traditional craft to more and more people.
Research Then, we did some research, and found that Kavalan people don't use clock and watch to know what time it is. They observe the solar zenith angle, because they don't need accurate time in their daily life. Their daily life and schedule match the sun and moon.

Field survey We actually went to the tribe of kavalan located in Hualien, and visited Lala Ban, which is a studio that produces banana shreds. In addition, we also interviewed Kavalan people. We asked their culture, customs and sacrifices so that we can understand their lives more.
Experience of making banana shreds We followed the Kalmarans to make banana shreds. At the beginning, we scraped the bark piece by piece slowly from the trunk. Next, scrape the impurities off the bark. Then, we dry the bark under sunshine. After a few days, the bark needed to be washed, and dry again. Repeat these steps until the banana shreds become brown.

Story of patterns In Karmaran culture, there are many different patterns, and each pattern represents a different meaning. For example, paddles, harvests, turtles, etc. These patterns are sea turtle, and the story is that once a father and his son went out to sea for fishing, and they forgot time so they got lost on the sea.At a critical moment, a sea turtle carried them home. Thus, sea turtle is their lifesaver.
Watch with sea turtle patterns and banana shreds as watch band We combined patterns, banana shreds and watches, hoping that when people check the time, they will remember Taiwanese indigenous people.
Target Audience Because banana shreds are handmade, the price of banana shreds is expensive. Therefore, the watch must be boutique to show status. Thus, its target audiences are those who are wealthy, wearing watches and love Taiwanese culture.

Model Making
Mechanism We disassembled the original watch and analyze the mechanism inside. Then, we used 3D printer to print the shell. We tried many ways to stick the metal foil to the thin pointer and the pointer could rotate.

Package The logo on the packaging was tooled in gold, and on the left was a cover made of banana silk, which gives a sense of ritual when opening. There is a small card attached to the box, explaining the story of the Kavalan people and introducing the uniqueness of banana shreds
Watch band We sewed the cloth into long strips, and embroidered the turtle's pattern on the strap by means of embroidery. And put the watch strap through the watch case.In order to meet different specifications, the strap also has two different width versions

Both my teammate and I enjoy living in Tainan, and we hope to promote Tainan’ s traditional food to this world.

Taiwan's food capital Tainan, which is an enchanting city, is full of histrical buildings and has amounts of traditional food,especially snacks. Tainan's snacks were made by ancients, and were passed down from generation to generation. We hope that in addition to be known in Taiwan,them can also spread to all the world.

Design process At the begining, we do some research about Tainan. We traveled around and recorded our observations. By doing that, we found out that Tainan has numerous features, but the most impressive thing is the warm sunshine. Comparing to other cities in Taiwan, Tainan's sunshine is comfortable and warm. It's also the reason why people like to live in Tainan. Therefore, we decided to apply it on hand warmer, which can bring heat to people in cold day, to convey this imagery.

Peng Pastry Peng Pastry, with its old-time brown sugar flavor. Its rounded top is actually hollow inside. Made with the chief ingredients of flour, water and brown sugar, the top slowly rises into a bubble when the pastry with the filling inside is put into the oven to bake. While Peng Pastry can be enjoyed just as it is straight out of the oven, it also used to be made into a tonic food for pregnant women and those who had just given birth. It seems to give warm to these women, and this concept is same as a hand warmer. Thus, we combined these two items, using Peng Pastry as shape on hand warmer. Moreover, the warm-tone of Peng Pastry just suitable for the overall feeling. In addition, it rounded shape makes it easy to hold, and people can carry it due to its small size. Each Peng Pastry has a stamp on it, so we design a chineseword stamp, which means warm, on the hand warmer.

Drawstring bag First, we went to the fabric shop in Tainan, and chose melange fabric, which texture is soft and meticulous, as the outside of the bag to have the retro feeling. In addition, the color of melange fabric also give a warm feeling. Then, I sewed a drawstring bag so that it can be carried easily.

Product packaging We carefully selected the pattern of the packaging paper, and chose one with irregular little dots. It fits the impression given by Tainan. After opening, the paper under Peng Pastry would unfold and become flat just like a plate. The blue pattern on the plate was designed. We
collected Tainan's tableware pattern and found that blue is used widely. Each parts were considered carefully. We hope that as soon as people see this product, they will reminiscent of Tainan immediately.
