Green Salvation Flip The Landscape Taixi used to rely on its aquaculture industry, the lifeblood of the local economy. However, nowadays, for a series reasons like industrial wasted gases, reclaiming land from the sea, which leads to soil salinization, it have caused serious environmental problems and lagged economic development. As a result, it's a good method to optimize the industry structure and improve the environment by promoting the use of salvaged pieces and the approach of Aquaponics.

Taixi Township is a rural township in Yunlin County, Taiwan, lying to the west of Dongshi township and is bordered on the north by Mailiao Township and on the South by Sihu Township.

Mailiaoliuqing heavy industrial district is located in the north of the base.The polluting emissions and wastewater discharged by the factories there cause serious pollutions. Meanwhile, it’s hard for plants there to survive because most land in Taixi is tidal land and the dams interferes with seawater to flow, leading to saline formation. Thus, Taixi relies on fish farm as its major industry.

[ Recovery System ] My plan is to recycle the industrial waste, starting from environmental enhancement to develop the economy; meanwhile, the development of solar energy industry could bring a great reversal to Taixi.

After the Flood
Building the dams rises the water table. While the evaporation has bigger implications than transpiration, leading to soil salinisation issues, the seawater pours backward to land but couldn’t be drained because of the dams and water evaporates, leaving large quantities of salts and accelerating salinisation. To bust the dams, first thing to do is to grow salt-tolerant plants and build up natural waterfront landscapes so as to lower water table and improve soil structures.

Polluted water is first purified by the algal pond then introduced into the greenhouses to farm fishes and vegetables.
Through pipeline, industrial waste hear is transported to greenhouse, keeping the water in a constant temperature.

Vertical Beard A Gong Dian Reservoir Park The base is closely connected to both the Hsiao-kang mountain and the reservoir. Therefore, we want to design a bridge that links the three places together, making the base a recreation park for people to relax themselves in nature.

We could reconstruct the artificial drainage ways into public landscape space, building up the waterfront platform and sunken plaza.
We can develop the flat grassland into camping area which could be used as market in the day because it's near the orchard, and camping site at the night.
