Bees get the nectar they need to make honey by traveling between flowers, and brings pollen from one plant to another, resulting in pollination, through this relationship they can take each other's needs and grow better.Since 1993, Taiwan has begun to enter an aging society. In 2018, Taiwan enter an "aged society". In the future population will move towards to ultra-aged society. With the continuous aging of the population, the empty house rate in Taiwan has increased significantly in recent years, more and more elderly people live alone in a house, even if they die that no one has found out . How to deal with these old and empty houses is an issue that needs need to be take high seriously. How to make old and empty houses have a new dialogue with people and the environment is the issue I want to study.

Reduce the walls of old buildings

Interacting with the streets

"Can people experience space freely like a bee?Can these different programs have a good effect on each other? " By observing the "mutualism" system between bees and flowers, the bees will collect the pollen on their feet and in the whole collect process, it will not hurt the growth of the flowers. All the bees freely shuttle between the flowers, there is no regular fly form, but overall can be seen to fly around the flowers, and fly straight between the stems. I think this amazing relationship is like putting new life in the old house, growing each other without creating a new thing. It become very powerful that just having a good chemical reaction with each other on the original basis. The Yongkang shopping area has developed outwards with "Yongkang Park" as the center. After the MRT Xinyi Line is opened to traffic, it makes transportation more convenient. Foreign tourists are mostly Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea. There are also many schools nearby. In this historic community, combining new and old products, different cultures. So I chose six different program to renovate the old house beside the park, trying to insert new activities and produce good effect to the old functions without destroying the entire old house. In order to connect the opposite park and the surrounding environment, I choose these six different program (shop, gallery, library, student activity center, residence, gardens) into a small old house and expect to create mutualism between these program.

Notation Of MUTUALISM Reducing , Producing

What I wanted to renovation but not building a new architecture is that when the resourse are getting limited, how to achieve maximum benefits with minimal movement.

"Mutualism" is a way that I combine this concept into renovation. For me, Mutualism architecture can divide into three part-〔〔surrouding environment/architecture〕/human〕, and can produce benefit to each other.

It's relatively easy for human to produce benefit to architecture, for example : people use light, controllable, recyclable material or form to built architecture and the activity that happened in the building can be seen, so the old house can be transparentizing. When the building releases the message of external connection, people are no longer afraid to approach the old closed house. But, how can architecture produce benefit to human I think it's relatively hard for me.

I want my architecture can offer people freely go through the different program that happened in the building.

So I think the newly intervention activity is like a bee, in the notation is the red part, It can have a Mutualism relationship with the original old house, through reducing the wall , floor, corrider of the original building, re-interpretation of the old and the new, the relationship between people and architecture and the environment.
