Gracias a las acciones tomadas por el señor presidente de la República, Dr. Alejandro Giammattei, durante estos dos años de gestión se ha fortalecido el Sistema Nacional de Salud, no solo para la prevención y cuidado del Covid-19, sino que se ha garantizado el derecho de acceso a la salud. Hoy, Guatemala cuenta con más centros de salud y unidades hospitalarias. Durante la pandemia, Guatemala registró un crecimiento
económico histórico de 7.5% del producto interno bruto. Además, se ha impulsado la reactivación económica y social. Se ha priorizado la red de servicios de seguridad alimentaria y nutricional, vivienda y educación, a través de distintos programas de los ministerios. El Presidente asegura que todos estos resultados son producto de la unión de los guatemaltecos y que seguirá trabajando, pues espera que el país siga creciendo.

María Godoy DCA Mundo La ópera Pueblo k’iche’ fue escrita por el guatemalteco Virgilio Rodríguez Beteta y compuesta musicalmente por el también guatemalteco Jesús Castillo. Esta obra se presentó por primera vez el 25 de julio de 1925, en el Teatro Abril de la ciudad

Amor y maldición Compuesta de tres actos, la obra nos ubica a instantes de la invasión de los españoles al territorio guatemalteco, a la vez que los espectadores disfrutan de la
cosmovisión y mitología k’iche’. Inicia con el culto al sol, y de repente se anuncia el sacrificio de la princesa Alitza, para complacer al dios Tojil, y así evitar la catástrofe. Quetzaltenango, conocida también como Xela o Xelajú, es la segunda ciudad más importante de Guatemala, por su actividad industrial, económica y turística. Xela es el centro de la cultura maya quiché. Ubicado en el área central, este es el corazón del lugar. Además, en Quetzaltenango podrá observar varios monumentos: el Obelisco del Triunfo que conmemora a la Revolución de 1871. También se encuentra el monumento al Tigre, que mide 17 metros de altura; o bien, el dedicado al General Justo Rufino Barrios, el de la Marimba o el de Tecún Umán.
Es la primera iglesia que se edificó en Centroamérica (1524). Llamada La Conquistadora, en la construcción se puede apreciar detalles de la época medieval, así como del arte románico. Además, la iglesia contiene los retablos más antiguos de Centroamérica y la primera imagen de la Virgen traída del viejo continente.

Cerro El Baúl National Park
Hermitage of the Concepción
Also known as Tecún Umán, this place holds a bit of history. Located in the central square, it has in the center the Obelisk, which conmemorates the revolution of 1871. The main square also stands out for the Tiger monument, which measures 17 meters high. It is also believed that Prince K’iche is buried in this park.
It was the first church built in Central America (1524). Called La Conquistadora, in the construction, you can appreciate details of the medieval period, as well as the Romanesque art. In addition, the church contains the oldest altarpieces of Central America and the first image of the virgin brought from the old continent.

Marisol Vásquez DCA Mundo La guatemalteca Lyla Carrillo Quan vive en los Países Bajos desde hace años, y es la autora del libro Mujeres Latinas de Almere que ilustra y narra a la mujer migrante latinoamericana.
“Cada una de las participantes de mi proyecto comentaron que transmitían su cultura por medio de la gastronomía, la música, entre otros, y eso se plasma en cada foto”, comenta. Entre sus futuros proyectos está realizar otros libros pero con mujeres de otras nacionalidades. Su trabajo ha sido presentado en las cadenas de televisión y radio neerlandesas. El libro se incluyó en la colección del Stadsarchief Almere con una exposición en su honor, que puede ser visitada y guiada.
Portraits of Immigrant Women Marisol Vásquez DCA Mundo Guatemalan Lyla Carrillo Quan has lived in the Netherlands for years and is the author of the book Latina Women of Almere, which illustrates and narrates Latin American migrant women. The portray of twenty Latina women in a book where they relate their lived experiences in a text that is a tribute to cultural diversity. Carrillo exemplifies perseverance and migrant struggle, living more than 9,000 kilometers away from her homeland.
