En esta edición le compartimos que el presidente Alejandro Giammattei participó en el 78 período de sesiones de la Asamblea General de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU), donde hizo un llamado a la paz y que los países que la integran velen por buscar soluciones pacíficas, que no conlleven a una guerra. Le co m e n t a m os q u e e l Programa de Alimentación Escolar beneficia a 3 047 612 de estudiantes; además, ayuda a dinamizar la economía local, lo que se traduce en que las comunidades cuenten con una mejor calidad de vida.
Asimismo, le presentamos los diferentes proyectos que impulsa el Ministerio de Economía para fortalecer a los emprendedores y a las pequeñas y medianas empresas para que diversifiquen sus productos y puedan ingresar en nuevos mercados. Con la finalidad de fortalecer las capacidades de funcionarios de cara a la 28 Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Cambio Climático (COP28), la cual se desarrollará del 30 de noviembre al 12 de diciembre de 2023 en Dubái, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, los ministerios de Relaciones Exteriores (Minex) y de Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (MARN) efectuaron un taller con la finalidad de lograr una participación efectiva del Estado de Guatemala.
Compromiso Karla Samayoa, viceministra del Minex, recordó que en esta ocasión el país asistirá ostentando la presidencia protempore de la Asociación Independiente de Estados de América Latina y el Caribe, grupo de negociación ante la Convención.

Más de 8 mil asistentes pudieron degustar el sabor del café guatemalteco en la 10ª. edición de la feria Exigí Buen Café , el mayor evento del aromático de especialidad en Argentina.
More than 8 thousand attendees could taste Guatemalan coffee’s flavor at the 10th edition of the Exigí Buen Café fair, the largest specialty coffee event in Argentina.
Los funcionarios de la Embajada de Guatemala en dicho país reunieron la bebida de tres regiones: Huehuetenango, Cobán y La Antigua Guatemala, el cual destaca por sus cualidades. Además, en la actividad se realizó el Concurso de Barista donde se preparó el grano nacional. Para la participación se contó con el apoyo de la Dirección de Política Económica Internacional de la Cancillería de Guatemala y de la Asociación Nacional del Café (Anacafé). Con estas acciones, el Gobierno de Guatemala refrenda su compromiso de promover la diplomacia comercial.

Progress Raúl Bouscayrol, president of the board of directors of the Chamber of Industry of Guatemala (CIG), emphasized that this event “is the ideal space to propose ideas and present best practices to achieve industrial development.”

El presidente de CIG recalcó la importancia del sector y dijo que según información del Central American Business Intelligence (CABI, en inglés), los sectores representados por CIG aportan un aproximado del 24 por ciento al producto interno bruto (PIB) de la nación, 20 por ciento del empleo formal registrado en el IGSS, y el 23.8 por ciento de recaudación fiscal.

He made a call for peace requesting the “withdrawal of Russian forces” in Ukraine, and the petition that Taiwan be part of the organization and called for the disarmament of nuclear weapons. “Let us unite, let us strive, so that one day all the world’s citizens can dawn in a climate of peace, progress, prosperity and development,” he said.

María Godoy DCA Mundo Cada 1 de noviembre, las calles de Villa Nueva, Guatemala, se llenan de personas disfrazadas que salen a bailar para representar y burlarse de las situaciones de la vida diaria.
Los Fieros de Villa Nueva inició hace 260 años, debido a que los guatemaltecos no eran partícipes de la celebración que realizaban los españoles a la Virgen de la Concepción, por lo que decidieron crear su propia fiesta, donde utilizaban sus mejores ropas y de esta forma dio paso al desfile bufo.

Al paso del tiempo, utilizaban máscaras con rasgos exagerados de los personajes de la Colonia. Esto fue cambiando con el transcurrir del tiempo y actualmente se puede observar desde Pedro, de Los Picapiedras , hasta Pokemón, entre otros de la cultura pop, así como a famosos de la política. Cabe resaltar que

Los barriletes, un saludo a los que ya no están María Godoy DCA Mundo En Santiago Sacatepéquez, durante el Día de los Difuntos, (1 de noviembre) se realiza el Festival de los Barriletes, donde los pobladores llegan al cementerio de la comunidad para orar, llevar flores, comida, pero también para volar dichos cometas. Estos son elaborados cuatro meses antes, donde los comunitarios forman grupos para dedicarse a la fabricación que conlleva papel de china, bambú, pegamento, entre otros materiales. Una leyenda La tradición conlleva una conexión espiritual, pues los residentes aseguran que al volarlos alejan los malos espíritus del camposanto. “El Día de los Difuntos era invadido por almas malignas que llegaban para maltratar a las buenas ánimas, cuyos cuerpos descansaban en la tierra. Los curanderos aconsejaron que la única manera de alejarlos era hacer que el viento chocara contra los pedazos del papel y así el ruido los alejaría de inmediato”.
Hora del vuelo Estos se comienzan a volar desde temprana hora. Para ello, varios jóvenes sostienen el barrilete mientras esperan que el viento sople a su favor y al escuchar la orden, los sueltan. A la vez, dan grandes tirones y aflojan un poco el lazo para que este pueda elevarse. Lo más complicado es mantenerlo en el aire. ¡Guatemala, asombrosa e imparable!
María Godoy DCA Mundo The Kite Festival takes place in Santiago Sacatepéquez; during All Souls Day (November 1 st), villagers come to the community cemetery to pray, bring flowers and food, and fly kites. Preparation of the kites takes place four months before, the community members form groups for the manufacturing process, which involves Chinese paper, bamboo, and glue, among other materials. The largest ones measure up to 22
meters in height, and, depending on who has registered for the event, they can be flown or exhibited.
A Legend The tradition has a spiritual connection, as the community members claim that by flying kites, they keep evil spirits away from the cemetery. “All Souls’ Day was invaded by evil spirits who came to mistreat the good souls, whose bodies rested in the earth. The curanderos (healers) advised that the only way to drive the evil spirits away was to make the wind crash against the kites so that the

The kites begin to fly early in the morning. Several young people hold the kite while they wait for the wind to blow in their favor, and when they hear the order, they release them. In the meantime, they give big tugs and release a little ribbon so the kite can rise. The most complicated thing is to keep it in the air. Guatemala is unique and unstoppable!

Marisol Vásquez DCA Mundo El fotógrafo Carlos López Ayerdi exhibió su colección Guatemala, a Tapestry of traditions and landscapes ( Guatemala, un tapiz de tradiciones y paisajes), en el National Chiang Kai-shek Pasillo Memorial de Taiwán, del 8 al 20 de septiembre. “Me he dedicado a documentar la cultura, gastronomía, los paisajes, el idioma y las costumbres”, aseveró. El profesional de la imagen ha trabajado intensamente desde hace más de 14 años; cuenta que es “producto de un fracaso”, porque tenía una empresa, la cual quebró. Esta “pérdida” lo impulsó para enfocarse en lo que sería su pasión posterior, la fotografía. “Estoy dejando un legado para mi familia, para la nación, que sirva de referencia histórica fotográfica y videográfica del país en esta época”, refirió.

la pandemia del Covid-19. En sus redes sociales también encuentra sus relatos como la Boda tradicional indígena, con la etnia kaqchikel y Remesas con rostro e identidad.

The photographer Carlos López Ayerdi presented his collection Guatemala, a Tapestry of Traditions and Landscapes, at the National Chiang Kaishek Memorial Hall in Taiwan from September 8 to 20. “I have worked documenting the culture, gastronomy, landscapes, language and customs,” he said.
