El gobierno del Dr. Alejandro Giammattei ha destacado por impulsar el desarrollo social, y en esta edición le comentamos que 80 mil guatemaltecos se han beneficiado por las jornadas móviles, las cuales tienen el objetivo de acercar servicios médicos y ciudadanos a las diferentes comunidades.

Además, le compartimos que sigue avanzando la construcción de escuelas bicentenarias que atenderán a más de un mil estudiantes por jornada. Estas construcciones son totalmente nuevas y en ellas los alumnos contarán con diferentes áreas para su aprendizaje.

Más de 1 mil estudiantes serán beneficiados con la construcción de dos escuelas bicentenarias. La primera está ubicada en Parramos, Chimaltenango, y la segunda, en Palín, Escuintla.

Al beneficio de la comunidad

El viceministro de Edificios Estatales y Obra Pública, Carlos Quiñónez, aseveró que estas construcciones son totalmente nuevas y en ellas los alumnos tendrán diferentes áreas para su aprendizaje como los espacios de juegos infantiles, canchas techadas, aulas termoacústicas, entre otros. Además, resaltó que estos centros educativos cuentan con accesos y servicios para personas con discapacidad.

Durante la administración del gobierno del presidente Dr. Alejandro Giammattei, ya ha sido inaugurada una Escuela Bicentenario en Escuintla; asimismo, se están construyendo otras 12 en el ámbito nacional.

El programa del Ministerio de Economía contó con un estand en el mencionado lugar, con la finalidad de dar visibilidad a los diferentes productos. Además, se invitó a los asistentes para que conozcan la infinidad de artículos con que cuenta el catálogo, así como a la diversidad de emprendedores que forman parte del programa.

El Sello Blanco fue impulsado durante 2021 dentro del Plan para la Recuperación Económica de Guatemala, cuyos ejes principales son la generación de empleo, la atracción de inversiones estratégicas y el fomento del consumo de productos nacionales a escala local, regional y mundial. Cabe resaltar que un 50 por ciento de estos productos ha representado al país en eventos internacionales. ¡Guatemala, asombrosa e imparable!

Durante una reunión entre el embajador de Guatemala en Argentina, Héctor Iván Espinoza; el primer secretario y cónsul guatemalteco, Roque Abel Arriaga, y la directora de Integración Económica Latinoamericana y Caribe del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, Comercio Internacional y Culto de Argentina, María Sandra Winkler, se abordaron las oportunidades para fortalecer el comercio y el turismo entre ambos países.

Uno de los puntos por resaltar consiste en la reducción de aranceles de ciertos productos guatemaltecos para que estos penetren en el mercado argentino. El embajador centroamericano puntualizó las diferentes oportunidades de inversión y cooperación en los diversos sectores nacionales. Además, agradeció al Gobierno de Argentina por el interés mostrado.

Estas acciones forman parte del compromiso del gobierno del Dr. Alejandro Giammattei, de fortalecer las relaciones con el mundo.

Discussions on trade and tourism opportunities took place during a meeting between the Guatemalan Ambassador in Argentina, Héctor Iván Espinoza, the first secretary and Guatemalan Consul, Roque Abel Arriaga, and the director of the Latin American and the Caribbean Economic Integration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship.

Reducing taxes on certain Guatemalan products for the Argentina market was on the agenda. The Central American Ambassador emphasized the different opportunities for investment and cooperation in the various national sectors. He also thanked the Government of Argentina for their interest.

80 mil guatemaltecos beneficiados con jornadas móviles

Cada día se suman más guatemaltecos beneficiados por las jornadas móviles, las cuales son ejecutadas por la Secretaría de Coordinación Ejecutiva de la Presidencia (SCEP) junto a 20 instituciones y han recorrido el territorio nacional.

Estas tienen el objetivo de acercar diferentes servicios a los ciudadanos, tales como tramitar certificaciones, el Documento Personal de Identificación,

antecedentes, o bien solicitar la licencia de conducir. En cuanto a salud, pueden consultar en medicina en general, odontología, pediatría, pruebas de laboratorio, suplementos alimenticios y desparasitantes; así como jornadas de vacunación para niños y contra el Covid-19, entre otros.

Brindan atención

De enero a agosto del presente año, se ha atendido a 80 mil guatemaltecos. Entre las gestiones que más demanda tuvo fue el de licencia de

conducir con 8452 solicitantes, y en servicios de salud en general se atendió a 6249 pacientes.

80 thousand Guatemalans benefit from mobile services

Daily, many Guatemalans benefit from nationwide mobile services, and with the coordination of the Secretariat of Executive Coordination of the Presidency (SCEP) with twenty other institutions.

These aim to bring different services closer to citizens, such as processing certifications or personal identification documents, background checks, or applying for a driver’s license. In terms of health, they can consult in general medicine, dentistry, pediatrics, laboratory tests, food supplements, deworming, and vaccination days for children and against COVID-19, among others.

Providing care

80 thousand Guatemalans have received services from January to August this year. Among the most demanded procedures is the driver’s license, with 8452 applicants, while in general health services, 6249 patients received attention.

In the following months, this service will reach Santa Cruz Barillas, Huehuetenango; San Rafael Pie de la Cuesta, San Marcos; Puerto Barrios, Izabal; Camotán, Chiquimula; Colomba Costa Cuca, Quetzaltenango; Moyuta, Jutiapa, y San Benito, Petén.

Estados Unidos agradeció a la administración del presidente Alejandro Giammattei por la cooperación en el combate contra el crimen transnacional, informó el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores (Minex).

El reconocimiento se dio durante un encuentro que sostuvo el gobernante guatemalteco con el subsecretario de Estado de Gestión y Recursos de EE. UU., Richard R. Verma, y del subsecretario adjunto de Estado para Centroamérica de la Oficina de Asuntos del Hemisferio Occidental del Departamento de Estado, Eric Jacobstein.

Ejecución

En el evento el funcionario Verma “agradeció, en nombre del mandatario Joe Biden y del secretario de Estado de los Estados Unidos, Antony Blinken, la cooperación de Guatemala en contener el narcotráfico, acciones como la destrucción de los precursores químicos y los esfuerzos por agilizar la extradición de personas vinculadas con estos delitos”, destacó la Cancillería.

El Ministerio de Gobernación ha reforzado las estrategias de seguridad destinadas a la

lucha contra la venta de drogas, organizaciones delictivas y las actividades ilícitas en las zonas fronterizas del país, por medio de sobrevuelos y operativos en conjunto que desarrolla la Unidad Aérea del Ministerio de Gobernación (Unagob), la Policía Nacional Civil (PNC) y el Ejército.

Además, ha deshabilitado siete pistas clandestinas de aterrizaje, así como la detención de 730 personas, al mes de agosto. Estos logros resaltan el firme compromiso del Gobierno de Guatemala.

The U.S. thanked the administration of President Alejandro Giammattei for cooperation in the fight against transnational crime informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINEX, acronym in Spanish).

The recognition was made during a meeting between the Guatemalan leader and the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Richard R. Verma, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central America of the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs of the Department of State, Eric Jacobstein.

Enforcement

At the event, Deputy Secretary Verma “thanked, on behalf of President Joe Biden and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Guatemala’s cooperation in the fight against transnational crime, drug trafficking, actions such as the destruction of chemical

precursors and efforts to expedite the extradition of persons tied to these crimes,” said the Foreign Ministry.

The Ministry of the Interior has reinforced security strategies in the fight against drug sales, organized crime, and illicit activities in the country’s border areas through overflights and joint operations carried out by the Air Unit of the Ministry of the Interior (Unagob, acronym in Spanish), the National Civil Police (PNC, acronym in Spanish) and the Guatemalan Army.

In addition, seven clandestine landing strips have been dismantled, and 730 people have been arrested for illegal activities or for being involved in drug trafficking. These achievements highlight the strong commitment of the Government of Guatemala.

En Chiantla, Huehuetenango, fieles ingresan arrodillados en la iglesia para pedir favores a la Virgen de Candelaria, conocida también como la Virgen de Plata, pues aseguran que al rezar con devoción y cumplir la promesa, esta aliviará la pena.

La imagen data del siglo XVI y se distingue ya que su manto y ropa están forjados en plata. Además, cuenta con siete diamantes, los cuales representan un día de la semana. Esta escultura se le atribuye a Quirio Cataño, quien elaboró la imagen del Cristo Negro de Esquipulas.

Una leyenda

Sin embargo, un misticismo la rodea. Según relatan los pobladores, fue la propia la imagen que decidió en dónde se construiría la parroquia que ahora la alberga.

En cuanto al origen de su manto, españoles llegaron a trabajar a la región y le solicitaron a la Virgen llevar su cargamento a salvo; a cambio, estos le prometieron la vestidura.

Sus creyentes tienen tanta fe que en su celebración, cada 2 de febrero, asisten unas 20 mil personas desde varias partes del país y de México para

venerarla. La rfigura es parte del Patrimonio Cultural de la Nación por su inmensurable valor histórico y artístico. ¡Guatemala, asombrosa e imparable!

The Virgen de Plata and her miracles

In Chiantla, Huehuetenango, the faithful kneel in the parish to ask favors to the Virgin of Candlemas; the Virgen, also known as the Virgin de Plata (The Silver), they assure t hat praying with devotion and fulfilling the promise will alleviate the pain.

The image dates from the XVI century and is recognizable because of its silver mantle and clothes. It also has seven diamonds, which represent a day of the week. This sculpture is attributed to Quirio Cataño, who sculpted the image of the Black Christ of Esquipulas.

La finca El Barretal se caracteriza por sus cosechas de café, grano guatemalteco que destaca por el aroma, acidez, cuerpo y dulzura, una combinación exquisita que podrá degustar en una taza, pero además abrió sus puertas para que turistas y connacionales puedan conocer la experiencia de un buen expreso.

Ubicada en el kilómetro 39, San Vicente Pacaya, Escuintla, usted podrá explorar las plantaciones y le explicarán por qué se siembran ciertos árboles. Se estima que en el territorio nacional se cultivan 800 millones de cafetos que reciben sombra de 38 millones de árboles, así como el proceso de esta mágica bebida, que se inicia desde la semilla hasta convertirse en una infusión.

ElBarretalis known for its coffee crops, a Guatemalan bean that stands out for its aroma, acidity, body, and sweetness. You can taste this exquisite combination in a cup, but it also opens the doors so tourists and nationals can experience a good espresso.

Located in kilometer 39, San Vicente Pacaya, Escuintla, you can explore the plantations, and they will explain why certain trees are planted. The estimate is that 800 million coffee trees are cultivated in the national territory, which receive shade from 38 million trees, as well as the process of this magical beverage, which starts from the seed until it turns into an infusion.

Las letras de Valeria Cerezo narran emociones por medio de los personajes y las historias. Sus días transcurren entre novelas, cuentos, poesía, para los cuales también involucra a niños y jóvenes a fin de compartirles sus conocimientos.

En la actualidad, trabaja en el fomento de la lectura, escritura y creatividad. Al respecto, Cerezo indicó: “He sido muy feliz con el contacto de muchos lectores”. Añadió que tiene pendiente de publicar una novela infantil.

Un escrito para todo

Con La raíz ganó el Premio Centroamericano de Cuento Mario Monteforte Toledo en 2015. Con los años le han seguido más publicaciones como Lafloroscura, Cosas más extrañas suceden en elmundoy más.

La autora ha sido jurada calificadora de diversos certámenes literarios en los cuales aseveró que hay buenos escritores, pero deben cuidar aspectos como la redacción, gramática y ortografía. “Siempre y cuando escribas bien, no importa qué tema; para todos los públicos hay lecturas”, relató.

She is currently working to promote reading, writing, and creativity. In this regard, Cerezo said: “I have been delighted with the contact of many readers.” She added that she still must publish a children’s novel.

A writing for everything

In 2015, with La raíz, she won the Mario Monteforte Toledo Central American Short Story Prize. Over the years more publications have followed, such as La flor oscura (The obscure flower), Cosas más extrañas suceden en el mundo(Stranger things happen in the world) and more.

Vuelta Ciclística a Guatemala conmemora a México

Cientos de ciclistas nacionales e internacionales se alistan para arrancar la edición 62 de la Vuelta Ciclística a Guatemala, que iniciará el próximo 23 de octubre y finalizará el 1 de noviembre.

Para esta edición, la quinta etapa se celebrará en Tapachula, México. La Federación Guatemalteca de Ciclismo aseveró que responde al marco de conmemoración del 175 aniversario de las relaciones diplomáticas entre México y Guatemala. Esta será la sexta ocasión en que la competencia llega a dicho lugar; la primera fue en 1971 y dos veces en 1972, 1973 y 1983.

El circuito tendrá un recorrido de 140 kilómetros, saliendo de

Plaza Galerías, para continuar por la 4ª. avenida sur en dirección al Libramiento Sur Poniente y finalmente regresar al punto de inicio. Las otras nueve etapas se realizarán en el país y se visitarán 14 departamentos.

¡Una celebración!

El evento es una festividad. Las diferentes calles se llenan de color y los habitantes esperan observar el paso de los titanes de los caminos; mientras, los pedalistas se impresionan de la forma en que se vive el ciclismo en la nación. ¡Guatemala le espera!

Hundreds of national and international cyclists are preparing to start the 62nd edition of Guatemala’s Cycling Tour, which begins on October 23 and ends on November 1.

This time, the fifth stage will take place in Tapachula, Mexico. The Guatemalan Cycling Federation stated that it responds to commemorating the 175th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Guatemala. This will be the sixth time that the competition has arrived at this place. The first was in 1971, and twice in 1972, 1973 and 1983.

The circuit will be 140 kilometers long, starting at Plaza Galerías, continuing along 4th Avenue South towards the Libramiento Sur Poniente, and finally returning to the starting point. The other nine stages will occur in the country, visiting 14 departments.
