Plan de Gobierno: por un país para vivir El plan de Gobierno 2024-2028 que estableció el presidente Bernardo Arévalo, junto a la vicepresidenta Karin Herrera tiene una finalidad: construir un país para vivir. Dicho proyecto se basa en cinco principios que transformarán a la nación en un lugar seguro y con oportunidades para todos los guatemaltecos. Esto será posible con una economía firme y pujante, para lo cual se generarán
oportunidades de trabajo, negocios e inversión. A la vez, se utilizará la fuerza de la ley y de las instituciones públicas para garantizar la seguridad. Sin embargo, la meta final es que cada familia cuente con acceso a la salud pública, electricidad, vivienda digna, agua, trabajo, protección y condiciones necesarias para su bienestar. César Bernardo Arévalo de León es el nuevo presidente de Guat ema la. Hi jo del expresidente Juan José Arévalo Bermejo (15 de marzo de 1945 - 15 de marzo de 1951) y de Margarita de León. Nació el 7 de octubre de 1958 en Montevideo, Uruguay, ya que sus padres vivían en el exilio. Su niñez transcurrió entre Venezuela, Chile y México; retornó a su amado país a la edad de 15 años.

Nuevamente se marcharía de la nación, pero esta vez para estudiar sociología en la Universidad Hebrea de Jerusalén; su pasión por la sociología lo llevó a doctorarse en filosofía y antropología social en la Universidad de Utrecht, Países Bajos. Domina el hebreó, portugués, francés, inglés y español. En la década de 1980 se incorporó al Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, donde comenzaría su carrera diplomática. Entre 1984 y 1988 fue secretario y cónsul de la Embajada de Guatemala en Israel; en 1994 y 1995 fue nombrado viceministro de Relaciones Exteriores, y en 1996 sería embajador de Guatemala en España. A d e m á s , o c u p ó va r i a s posiciones relevantes en organizaciones internacionales; una de ellas fue Interpeace, donde se desempeñó como asesor para la consolidación de la paz en conflictos internacionales. Mientras que en el Centro de Investigaciones Regionales de Mesoamérica
(Cirma) fue parte de la junta directiva y presidente de la misma. En 2015, Arévalo y varios intelectuales conformaron el partido político Movimiento Semilla, donde fue electo como diputado al Congreso (2020-2024). En 2023 ganaría las elecciones para Presidente de la República.
María Godoy DCA Mundo César Bernardo Arévalo de León is the new President of Guatemala. He is the son of former president (March 15, 1945 – March 15, 1951) Juan José Arevalo Bermejo and of Margarita de León.
He was born on October 7, 1958, in Montevideo, Uruguay, while his parents were in exile. During his childhood, he lived in Venezuela, Chile, and Mexico. However, he came back at the age of 15 to country. Again, he would leave the country, but this time to study Sociology at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem; his passion for Sociology took him to his PhD in Philosophy and Social Anthropology at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He is fluent in five languages: Hebrew, Portuguese, French, English, and Spanish. In the 80s, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he began his diplomatic career. Between 1984 and 1988, he was secretary and consul of
the Guatemalan embassy in Israel; in 1994 and 1995, he was appointed vice minister of Foreign Affairs, and in 1996, he became the Guatemalan ambassador to Spain. He also filled several relevant positions in international organizations, including Interpeace, where he worked as a consultant to consolidate peace in international conflicts. At the Center for Regional Research of Mesoamerica (CIRMA), he was part of the Board of Directors and President. In 2015, Arevalo, with several intellectuals, formed the political party Movimiento Semilla . He was elected to Congress in 2020, and then in 2023, he won the elections for President of the country.

Karin Larissa Herrera Aguilar es la segunda vicepresidenta de Guatemala. Nació el 25 de julio de 1968, en la ciudad de Guatemala. Es hija única de Adalberto Herrera y Gladis Aguilar. Es química-bióloga, científica, catedrática y política. Sus estudios los realizó en el Instituto Belga Guatemalteco, luego ingresaría en la Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala. Su pasión por el medioambiente la llevó a obtener una maestría en estudios ambientales en la Universidad del Valle de Guatemala.
H e r re ra Ag u i l a r d e c i d i ó participar en la política y fue electa como representante del Colegio de Farmacéuticos y Químicos de Guatemala ante el Consejo Superior Universitario (2015-2017). En 2021 se convertiría en vicepresidenta de la Junta Directiva del Colegio de Farmacéuticos y Químicos de Guatemala (2021–2023).

She was born on July 25, 1968, in Guatemala City. She is the only child of Adalberto Herrera and Gladis Aguilar.
Karin Larissa Herrera Aguilar, second Vice-President of Guatemala.
She has a degree in Biology and Chemistry; she is also a scientist, professor, and politician. She studied at the Instituto Belga Guatemalteco and graduated from the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala as a biologist chemist. Her passion for the environment led her to a master’s in Environment at the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. She is a professor at Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala and director of the same university’s Chemistry and Biology Research Institute. She also has a Ph.D. in political science and sociology from
the Pontifical University of Salamanca. Herrera Aguilar decided to participate in politics and was elected to represent Guatemala’s Board of Pharmacists and Chemists before the Supreme University Council from 2015 to 2017. In 2021, she would become vice president of the Board of Directors of Pharmacists and Chemists of Guatemala for 2021-2023. In 2022, she joined the Movimiento Semilla and was elected by the party as a vice presidency candidate

En cuanto a los planes de trabajo afirmó que se ampliará el acceso y la calidad de los servicios de salud y bienestar, para que todos los guatemaltecos tengan la oportunidad de vivir y crecer de manera saludable, plena y digna.
Bernardo Arévalo se convirtió en el 52.º Presidente de Guatemala, al ser juramentado en los primeros minutos del lunes 15 de enero. En su discurso inicial aseveró que se está “marcando un hito significativo gracias al ejercicio democrático”. Además, aseguró que se transformará el panorama político. “Es un compromiso que asumimos con humildad y determinación, conscientes de la responsabilidad que implica trabajar en favor del bienestar común y la prosperidad”. Así como sentenció que: “Nunca más al autoritarismo. Jamás permitiremos que la violencia sea empleada como medio para promover agendas políticas o preservar privilegios”.
Un llamado a la unidad En sus palabras agradeció al pueblo, en especial a los jóvenes y a los cuatro pueblos, así como a la solidaridad y el respaldo de las naciones hermanas.
Asimismo, resaltó que “es hora de emprender un camino de unidad, diálogo y paz (...) No podemos dejar escapar esta oportunidad; es crucial trabajar juntos en unidad y armonía para

Vice President Karin Herrera spoke on the balcony of the National Palace of Culture, stating: Today, I address you as your Vice President with the explicit intention of being part of a Government of change.” I will not be satisfied hearing that in Guatemala, we are beginning to see more justice, equality, and opportunities.” She emphasized having “the courage” to face the nation’s challenges. She said, “you will have a binomial that will work for the country.

He also emphasized that “it is the moment to unity, dialogue and peace (…). We cannot let this opportunity slip away; it is crucial to work together in unity and harmony to improve the quality of life of our people.” Regarding work plans, he stated that access to and quality of health and welfare services will be expanded so that all Guatemalans can live and grow in a healthy, complete, and dignified manner.

Con 21 cañonazos, el Ejército de Guatemala rindió saludos a los nuevos líderes Bernardo Arévalo y Karin Herrera. “Las mujeres y hombres de uniforme nos unimos para presentarle un respetuoso saludo a nuestro comandante general del Ejército, Bernardo Arévalo, presidente de la República”, dijo el ministro de la Defensa, Henry David Sáenz Ramos.

Igualdad de oportunidades Por primera vez, esta actividad se realizó en la Plaza de la Constitución, zona 1 de la ciudad capitalina; el presidente Bernardo Arévalo aseveró que la decisión fue para hacer conciencia de que se “dé cara al pueblo, con el pueblo”. Además, hizo énfasis que el Ejército de Guatemala brindará apoyo a las fuerzas de seguridad civiles en la lucha contra el crimen organizado y la delincuencia transnacional. Asimismo, hizo un llamado para que en las filas castrenses destaque el papel de la mujer y que se ofrezca igualdad de condiciones. “De ahora
en adelante, los procesos de nombramiento en las filas militares representan una modernidad arraigada en principios democráticos
sólidos”, informó el también comandante general. Al lugar se hicieron presentes los integrantes de las diferentes
fuerzas armadas de la Nación, así como ministros y secretarios de Estado, quienes pudieron observar el despliegue de las fuerzas armadas.

The members of the different armed forces of the nation, as well as ministers and secretaries of state, were present to observe the deployment of the armed forces.

Rodrigo Pérez DCA Mundo Ocho hombres y seis mujeres encabezan los 14 ministerios del Ejecutivo que impulsarán el plan de Gobierno del presidente Bernardo Arévalo para mejorar la calidad de vida de la población guatemalteca; en especial, los más necesitados. “Los hemos seleccionado en función de sus capacidades, preparación y de su compromiso. Nos hemos asegurado de tener un Gabinete de personas íntegras y valientes en las que confiamos”, afirmó el jefe de Estado. El mandatario también dijo que son profesionales “que han respondido al desafío encomendado y que está vinculado a los retos que hoy atravesamos, no solo en el plano político e institucional, sino, por sobre todo, en torno al sentido básico de su función, que es trabajar al servicio de todos” los guatemaltecos.

Rodrigo Pérez DCA Mundo Eight men and six women are the leaders of the 14 ministries of the Executive Branch that will promote President Bernardo Arevalo’s administration to improve the quality of life for the people of Guatemala, especially for the neediest. The Head of State commented, “We have selected these men and women due to their capacities and commitment. We have ensured a Cabinet with honest and brave people whom we trust.”
The President also stated, “They are professionals that have said yes to the political and institutional challenges and overall, to their basic function to work at the service of all Guatemalans.” The mission of the ministers, said Arévalo, is “to work to improve the livelihoods of all the people, to build a nation where there is no uncertainty in the future, where we can be free of fear of insecurity, where the cost of living is not a burden or living in fear of constant discrimination.”
