Bob’s work on the Board includes assisting Michael Dorvillier (Chairman) in generating sponsorship money for the event, managing the photography and videography vendors who provide all the amazing shots and footage of our great Concours and working on the sub-committee that engages automobile owners to register and exhibit their superb automotive examples, at the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance. La Jolla Concours d’Elegance and the La Jolla Historical Society are thrilled to welcome back Keith Martin as emcee of this year’s show. “In 2012 the event raised it’s bar significantly. It has all the requisite pieces in place to move up the ladder of nationally known concours. The setting is spectacular, almost Pebble Beach-esque,” says Keith.
In addition to being the founder and publisher of the monthly Sports Car Market and Corvette Market magazines, Martin’s columns on collecting and reviewing of exotic cars have appeared in The New York Times, Automobile, AutoWeek, Road & Track and other publications. His Keith Martin on Collecting series, published by Motorbooks International, includes books on Ferrari, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, Porsche, Austin-Healey, MG and Triumph, as well as two editions of Keith Martin’s Guide to Car Collecting.
In 2011, Martin and eBay Motors released a proprietary web-based value-tracking tool, the Collector Car Price Tracker, the first real-time collector car price guide in the world. On television, Martin’s most recent show is What’s My Car Worth, now showing on the Velocity channel (formerly Discovery HD Theater). For eleven years, he was an analyst at the Barrett-Jackson auction for Speed Channel. Known for his incisive knowledge of collector cars coupled with a warm sense of humor, Martin is the morning host for the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, emcee of Concourse
Italiano and the Keels and Wheels Concours in Houston, and the co-emcee, along with Edward Herrmann, of the Kirkland Concours, in Washington.
The Harley-Davidson or classic collectible car stands proud with the sun reflecting in its polished chrome. Every detail is perfection, right down to the reflections. Admirers are often surprised to discover that the image before them is not a photograph, but a Scott Jacobs painting. In 1993, Scott became the first officially licensed Harley-Davidson artist and still proudly holds that honor. Added to that list are: Chevrolet, Ford, Mattel, Marilyn Monroe Estates and Elvis Presley Enterprises.
Scott began his career in art, not with his painting, but by buying a failing gallery at 19 with money he had saved from working odd jobs. At 21, Scott had the cash and customer base to open Reflections On Canvas Gallery in Westfield, N.J., a gallery that met with much success. Scott’s images can be seen on a variety of objects from limited editions graphics to Franklin Mint Collector plates, coffee mugs, beach towels, clocks and many others. 2010 saw the release of his second book, The Art of Scott Jacobs - The Complete Works.

Welcome To The Concours Presented By La Jolla Historical Society
The mission of the La Jolla Historical Society is to inspire and empower the community to make La Jolla’s diverse past a relevant part of contemporary life. The Society serves as a thriving community resource and gathering place where residents and visitors explore history, art, ideas and culture.
The Society proudly presents the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance & Motor Car Classic. The Concours is an important community event open for all to participate, an important source of economic activity for La Jolla’s small businesses before the traditional summer tourist season, and an important source of funding that allows the Society to present year-round rotating exhibitions and educational programs at no cost to the public. The Concours is also a juried exhibition and has an inherent dimension of history, both of which add aspects of educational value that align with the Society’s mission.
The La Jolla Historical Society is a 501c3 nonprofit, public benefit corporation with seven hundred household and business members. Wisteria Cottage Galleries are open Thursday through Sunday, noon to 4:00pm or by appointment. Admission is free. The Public Research Center is open Monday through Friday 10:00am to 4:00pm or by appointment. Research access to the Society’s archives is free.
