Welcome... to ‘Night at the Museum’, San Diego County Dental Foundation’s annual gala. The Foundation is the charitable arm of the Dental Society, raising funding for and operating oral health initiatives in San Diego. The Foundation’s flagship program is the John Geis DDS Dental Clinic at Veterans Village of San Diego. Dental care significantly impacts veterans’ lives, providing them with the confidence of a healthy smile, which, in turn, opens doors to employment opportunities and helps them reconnect with their families and community. By attending the gala and contributing to the cause, participants play a vital role in supporting the essential services offered at the dental clinic and making a positive change in the lives of under-served veterans. The state-of-the-art clinic provides no-cost dental care treatment such as upper and lower partials, dentures, and full mouth restorations to the residents of Veterans Village of San Diego. The clinic does not charge patients for this service and is fully funded by grants and individual contributions. This gala is the primary fundraiser for the clinic, providing nearly half of its annual budget. We are here tonight to ensure the clinic’s successful operation for another year.

GOLDEN HEART AWARD P R E S E N T E D B Y: DR. DANIEL S. WITCHER, PRESIDENT
DR. KEVIN KENNY Dr. Kevin Kenny’s outstanding contributions to the San Diego dental community are indeed commendable. He has been recognized and nominated for the Golden Heart Award by members of the San Diego Patriot Study Club (SDPSC), including, Dr. Thomas Brant, Dr. Thomas Olinger, and Dr. Gerald Kerr. Dr. Kenny’s dedication to service and camaraderie within the San Diego dental community is exemplified by his involvement as a co-founder of SDPSC. Under his leadership, SDPSC has evolved from a fellowship-focused organization into a thriving one with over 120 members, offering both continuing dental education and philanthropic initiatives. One of Dr. Kenny’s notable achievements is his fundraising efforts, which have generated over $165,000 for various charitable causes. These contributions have benefited organizations such as the Geis Clinic at Veterans Village, UCSD Pre-Dental Society, Free Clinics, Veterans Clinic at the UCLA School of Dentistry, and the San Diego Food Bank. His commitment to giving back extends internationally, as he has participated in humanitarian dental trips to underserved communities in countries like Cambodia, Guatemala, Panama, Nepal, and more. Furthermore, Dr. Kenny’s mentorship has had a significant impact on aspiring dental professionals. He has guided pre-dental students on their journey to dental school and supported young dental officers as they transition into private practice. Dr. Kenny’s unwavering dedication and selflessness make him a shining example of a compassionate and impactful dental professional. His contributions to the community, both locally and internationally, are truly remarkable.
