GATES AUSTRALIA PARTNERS WITH OSCAR TARGETT

The Junior Grove Racing Driver will be sponsored by Gates Australia in 2023 Gates Australia has announced its sponsorship of junior racing driver Oscar Targett, a highly promising young racer from the Grove Racing Junior team who has demonstrated exceptional skill and determination on the track.

Oscar competes in two junior categories, the Toyota Gazoo Racing 86 Series, and the Porsche Sprint Challenge.

Oscar believes participating in these two vastly different categories is the “ultimate challenge,” with the Porsche being a highly modified 480-plus horsepower race car and the 86 being a lower horsepower streetcar, with both handling and driving very differently.

Gates Australia says that as a leading manufacturer of innovative automotive products, it recognises the importance of investing in the development of young motorsport talent.

By sponsoring Oscar, Gates aims to provide the resources and technical expertise necessary for the development of his racing career, stating that this sponsorship is a testament to its commitment to supporting motorsports at various levels and in multiple categories.

“We are delighted to partner with Oscar Targett and support his journey as a rising star in the world of motorsports”, Gates Australia Marketing Manager, Priscilla Robb, said.

“We are excited to collaborate with him and believe our partnership will create remarkable opportunities for all parties involved.”

Oscar Targett expressed his gratitude for the sponsorship.

“I’m really excited to have Gates onboard for my 2023 Toyota 86 and Porsche Sprint Cup campaigns,” Oscar said.

“I met Rainer (Rainer Wuenstel, Gates Australasia Managing Director) in 2022 at the Gold Coast Supercars event and we talked cars and so much more and now they are supporting me, which I’m excited and honoured to do.

“Gates are a fantastic business and working with apprentices through their program is something I’m really looking forward to. I can’t thank Rainer, Priscilla and the whole Gates team enough for their faith in me.”

Grove Racing Commercial Director, Gavan Wills, also conveyed his thoughts about the sponsorship.

“We are delighted that Gates has expanded their partnership with Grove Racing to include our Junior Team and specifically Oscar,” Gavan said. “He is embarking on a hectic 2023 campaign racing the Grove Hire Porsche in the Porsche Michelin Cup Challenge and Toyota 86 in the State and National series and Gates’ support is highly valued.

“Gates are a significant and long-term partner with our Supercars team and their support of young driving talent in Australia is a great strategic fit for both Gates and Grove Racing and complements their national apprenticeship program which utilises our team facilities at each round of the Supercars championship.”
