A SPORTS BAR LIKE NO OTHER

HSP has released the Armour Bar

With so much hype around the front of the car, HSP says it is sometimes easy to forget the most important part of a Ute: the tub. This is why it has created the Armour Bar, it says. HSP explains the Armour Bar is the first in a new line of ‘aesthetic enhancement’ products by HSP, stating that it couldn’t think of a more beautiful product to start with. Light weight

HSP says the Tub is essentially the whole reason you purchased a Ute, so when designing the Armour bar, it wanted to ensure that it was as light weight and as non-invasive as possible. As such, the clear choice for HSP was alloy, which sees the bar weigh half of any comparable steel bar, meaning less stress on the tub and a higher payload. Middle Curve extension

The Armour Bar’s rear legs start from the middle and curve out towards the rear. HSP says this not only looks great but gives you the ability to centre mount lightweight accessories such as spotlights (please check with your state legislation prior to installing any lights on your vehicle). Anti-Rust design

Unlike steel sports bars, HSP says the front and rear of the Armour Bar contain almost no iron. It states that without iron, there is no rust. Any nonalloy parts such as brackets and bolts are either powder coated or have anti-rust protection.

TOWING, TORQUE AND TUFF CLUTCHES

Whether it’s a caravan, boat or trailer, towing places additional demands on a clutch system

With more and more off-road capable caravan and camper trailers available from manufacturers today, there is an increasing number of 4WDs hitting the tracks with something hitched to their tow bars. “Clutches take a heap of abuse in the bush. Frequently, we find that during 4WD trips, clutches are held for long periods in the partially engaged position. For example, when holding the vehicle on hills using the clutch or by trying to rock the vehicle, as is sometimes the case when 4WD driving on rough terrain,” EXEDY Senior Product Manager, Mark Davis, said. “This is exaggerated when you are towing and can generate extreme heat causing clutch fade, similar to brake fade, to the point where clutch disc linings start burning to dust in the bell housing. This results in a smoky smell that can often signal the start of a problem, which has the potential to bring a trip to an early end.” If you plan on towing, Mark says the Exedy Safari Tuff is an excellent upgrade guaranteed to give you peace of mind and outstanding performance. “The Exedy Safari Tuff clutch range has been purposely engineered to meet the extra demands that towing and four-wheel driving place on the drivetrain,” Mark said. “Our Safari Tuff Kit features a high-quality clutch disc with premium grade friction materials and in most cases upgraded damper springs.” The engineered cover assembly boasts a minimum 25 percent increase in clamp load compared to standard fitments. The Exedy Safari Tuff Clutch Kit also features an anodised cover pressing to limit corrosion, spheroidal graphite anti burst pressure plate casting and, in most cases, additional drive straps. “Designed and assembled in Exedy’s Australian facility using quality components from our Japanese factories, the Safari Extra Tuff clutch kit includes a clutch disc with improved damper springs and high coefficient friction material; Premium finish

The Armour bar comes standard with a premium matte powder-coated finish. HSP explains that not only does this look and feel sensational but when compared to a painted or polished finish, it states powder coat is best for withstanding the elements. Compatible with Roll R Cover Series 3

HSP says the Armour Bar looks fantastic on any naked tub, but for anyone who has a HSP Roll R Cover S3 and above, it now has a mounting kit available to adapt the Armour bar. It explains that each bar has been specifically designed to sit perfectly in line with your cabin. For more information, visit www.hsputelids.com

coupled with an upgraded Safari Tuff clutch cover resulting in the highest clamping force in the Exedy range,” Mark said. Importantly, all Safari Extra Tuff clutch kits also come with an alignment tool, spigot bearing and grease satchel, so you have all the tools you need to do the job. To date, Exedy has released Safari Tuff Heavy duty clutch kits for Toyota Landcruiser, Hilux and Prado applications as well as Nissan Patrol, Mitsubishi Triton and Holden Colorado. More applications are being developed continuously. For more information, visit www.exedy.com.au

NEW PRODUCT LINE FOR THE CAMPER MARKET

Bilstein has introduced a new line which features the high performance B6 Camper shock absorber

Bilstein says it is proud to introduce a tailor-made product line for motorhomes built around the B6 Camper shock absorber. The company noted that classic van suspensions are designed for highly fluctuating load conditions, while motor homes are never truly empty. Unsuitable suspensions can lead to poor stability in curves, loud driving noises, and a lack of general comfort. Bilstein says this is why it has designed its new product line to meet the specific needs of the growing number of motorhome owners. The B6 Camper configuration was first tested in the Fiat Ducato, which forms the basis for well over half the motorhomes in Europe and Bilstein says all identically constructed vehicles from Citroën and Peugeot were also taken into account. Bilstein says its B6 Camper offers a significant increase in damping force compared with the standard damper. Bilstein will also offer a variant with automatic damping force adjustment using a purely mechanical process. This shock absorber will be able to automatically adjust its characteristics based on vibration feedback from the road. The B6 Camper is also available for semi-integrated vehicles.

HAMER 4X4 BAR WORK

For the Next-Gen Ranger

Hamer 4x4 has released a full protective bar range to suit the Next-Gen Ranger, featuring the King Series Front Bar, the Nova Rear Step-Towbar and the Shadow Side Step. More accessories will be release next year. The King Series bullbar is said to be perfectly integrated to the vehicle and is a full bumper bar replacement which avoids cutting in the original bumper. Strong and durable, it is made of 3mm high-grade steel plate with a matte black powder coating finish, is equipped with LED indicators, fog and daytime running lights and is winch compatible with a towing rating up to 12,000 LBS. It will be released in two variants, the hoopless version and the King Series Plus with triple loops. Standard or Ultimate Rated shackles are available in red, black and nardo grey. The Nova Rear Bar has an integrated step-towbar which increases the protection needed to preserve the vehicle’s integrity, offers a 3T tow rating, and features two lights to increase confidence and visibility when manoeuvring. The Shadow Side Step provides easy and safe access for occupants climbing in/out of the vehicle, with an anti-slip surface and a light separating the step illuminating red when opening/closing the door. For more information or to become a Hamer distributor, call 1300 545 554 or email sales@hamer4x4.com.au Bilstein states that the benefits of the B6 Camper include a more comfortable riding experience, increased safety in crosswinds and on bends, a reduction in driving noise, and more precise handling. Each vehicle application is individually tuned on a demanding course in the Bilstein road test at “ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg.” Bilstein will be releasing more products in the line as the rigorous testing processes are completed. “Caravan owners have been able to upgrade their towing vehicle for some time now with our improved Bilstein B6 series replacement shock absorber, which we also recommend to all other motorists due to its greater damping force,” Bilstein Academy Head, Rainer Popiol, said. “But now, for the first time, we can also offer a special product for motorhomes.” For more information, visit camper.bilstein.com

NEW FROM TERRAIN TAMER

Terrain Tamer has released an Electronic Secondary Park Brake Kit for Landcruiser

It is well known to owners of Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series vehicles that the OE handbrake on these models is insufficient and prone to failure, causing slipping and dangerous rollaway events, says Terrain Tamer. To combat this, Terrain Tamer has developed the Electronic Secondary Park Brake (ESPB) kit. The kit is a secondary inclusion designed to support the vehicle’s primary OE handbrake rather than replace it. The kit includes calipers, wiring, controller, control switch and all accessories required for fitting. It is compatible with OE size pads and rotors, without the need to replace these parts. Once fitted, the Electronic Secondary Park Brake utilises an in-dash switch for easy activation, and utilises the hand brake warning light on the dashboard when engaged.

The kit also features auto safe engagement, causing automatic activation when the vehicle’s ignition is cycled to off, in order to prevent potential roll-away. The ESPB kit is compatible with upgraded larger front brakes but is vehicle specific and will not fit other applications. It features plug and play installation, requires an approximate three-hour fitting time, and does not require ADR engineering compliance. A repair kit and spare parts are in development and will be available soon. The Terrain Tamer ESPB Kit comes with a twoyear or 40,000km warranty. ARB explains that its Intensity IQ driving light has been developed from the ground up, with performance front of mind, whilst delivering a design that complements modern vehicle styling and bar work. Packed with features, the Intensity IQ is said to set a new level of driving light composition and useability. Incorporating a unique four-optic design of LEDs (Super Spot, Spot, Flood and Midrange), ARB says this provides virtually unlimited choice of light beams to suit any road condition, allowing for user customisation to suit individual needs. The Super Spot and Spot optics, based on freeform reflector technology, produce an even spot beam for extended distance illumination. The Flood optic has a specially designed lens to maximise the light spread for excellent foreground visibility, while the Midrange optic employs a conventional parabolic reflector to illuminate the midrange area. Furthermore, the beam pattern of each of the two lights can be independently adjusted allowing users to run any combination of LED design. ARB says its Intensity IQ driving lights offer a new and innovative user interface, allowing the user to monitor, adjust and configure the light settings through the Intensity IQ Onboard Control Switch, which is customisable via the ARB Intensity IQ app (available via the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android) or the ARB Linx. ARB explains that this provides a tailor-made approach to driving lights; with full control at the user’s fingertips, and as such, states that the ARB Intensity IQ driving lights are truly adaptable to all driving conditions. These lights allow you to do more than just see clearly on the road, it says, stating that ARB Intensity IQ driving lights come feature packed including courtesy and work light attributes. Courtesy lighting allows users to receive temporary light from their vehicle after the ignition is turned off to ensure safe vehicle exit. Work light turns on the IQ lights without the vehicle high beam trigger, allowing users to continue working in dark environments. All features are fully customisable with the app. The ARB Intensity IQ driving lights are $1,995 (Australian East Coast Metro) and will be available from late November. With one driving light that “does it all,” ARB says Intensity IQ are the most advanced driving lights ARB has ever created. For more information, visit www.arb.com.au
