Koliwada Kolis are the original inhabitants of Bombay. Kolis occupied the islands in successive waves and engaged in husbandry and fishing. Koliwada is the colony of Kolis (fishermen). Kolis are settled in various parts of Mumbai namely Juhu, Mahim, Worli, Versova, Dharavi, Panvel, Sion.
Worli Koliwada
The Kolis fisher folk of Mumbai are a distinct community.
In their dress, their language, their food and their lifestyle they are easily distinguishable.
Houses are painted in bright colors and decorative finishes are done on facades.

Though house patterns differ, every house has a chool (kitchen),
vathan (room) and a devghar (the worship room).

WORLI FORT
Built by British, protected by Koli
community, surrounded by slums & Koliwada.
It is located in the middle of Worli village; on peninsular landmass amidst the blue Arabian Sea. It is a well-built structure that has survived the vagaries of nature. It is under state archaeological department and was restored by ASI in 2007-2009. It visible from the Bandra -Worli Sea Link Bridge.
