ďƒ˜Step 1: Enabling the keyboard in window Skip this step if the computer does not enter sleep mode or if the computer wakes unexpectedly. Follow these steps to enable your keyboard to wake your computer from sleep mode: 1. In Windows, search for and open the Device Manager. 2. Click the arrow next to Keyboards and double-click the name of your keyboard‌.



3. If the Power Management tab is available, proceed to the next step.

If the Power Management tab is not available, click the Change Settings button if it appears below the Device status box. The same Keyboard Properties window opens with the Power Management tab available. If you are prompted for an Administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 4. Click the Power Management tab and make sure that the box next to Allow this device to wake the computer is checked. 5. Click OK, and then test to make sure that the keyboard can now wake the computer. If the computer still cannot wake from sleep mode, continue using these steps.



 Step 2: Updating software and drivers Some drivers can be downloaded from HP and others can be downloaded from Microsoft using Windows Update. Having the most current BIOS version and drivers installed on your computer can resolve several issues. To find the BIOS and driver updates available for your computer, check, in the following order, the following locations:  For instructions on how to update the BIOS of your computer, see one of the following HP support documents: • Updating the BIOS (Notebooks) • Updating the BIOS (Desktops)  For information and instructions on downloading and updating software and drivers, see the HP support document, Downloading or updating software and drivers for HP computers.


ďƒ˜ Step 3: using HP support assistant to find updates automatically in window HP personal computers with Windows come with HP Support Assistant installed. You can use HP Support Assistant to automatically find and install the latest updates for your computer. If needed, you can install the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the HP Support Assistant site (in English).

Follow these steps to open the HP Support Assistant and check for software and driver downloads:


1.In Windows, search for and open HP Support Assistant. 2.In HP Support Assistant, click Updates and tune-up. 3. Click Check for HP updates now.

HP Support Assistant checks for the latest updates from HP. 4. If new updates are available, make sure the checkbox next to each update is checked and click Apply to begin downloading and installing the updates. If no new updates are available, click Finish


ďƒ˜ Step 4: Using Windows 10 or Windows 8 Power troubleshooter You can run the Power troubleshooter to adjust your computer's power settings. The Power troubleshooter checks things like your computer's timeout settings, which determine how long the computer waits before turning off the monitor display or entering sleep mode. Adjusting these settings can help you conserve power and extend your computer's battery life.


To run the Power troubleshooter, use the following instructions: 1. In Windows, search for and open the Control Panel. 2. In the Control Panel Search field, type troubleshooting. 3. Click Troubleshooting. 4. Under System and Security, click Improve power usage. If asked for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide the confirmation information.



5. Click Next to run the troubleshooting tool. A Detecting Issues window displays while Windows detects and attempts to fix any issues.

4. After troubleshooting is complete, close the troubleshooter, or click Explore additional options if needed.
