Nitro Tap Coffee Shop Semester 6 2019
Nitro Coffee Taps
Nitro Tap is a social coffee experience offering nitro coffee taps and a full espresso bar. This gives customers the ability to have espresso beverages as well as 24 different flavors of nitro coffee. Booth seating encourages customers to come in groups and connect with each other over coffee. For individual guests, the mezzanine offers counter top seating. The mezzanine also includes coffee taps so customers can easily get a refill.

Seating options Booths: groups of 4 and 6 Tables: pairs, groups of 4 and 6 Counter: individual and pair The ribbon ceiling creates implied privacy for booth seating groups by lowering the ceiling plane. It also allows for ambient light to be incorporated into the voids.
The darker color is kept to the lower third to reinforce the horizontal line that the continuous bar creates. This color application also adds emphasis to the verticality of the mezzanine and how the floors relate.

The three dimensional graphic adds depth to a flat surface. The graphic also brings a liveliness to the space without creating visual noise.

Three-in-One Bathroom Faucet Semester 5 2018
Soap.Wash.Dry. The three-in-one’s on the market are either 3 individual fixtures sold as a set or a fixture that has two bases on the counter. Due to this, I created a fixture that has all three features in one fixture, and it connects to the counter at a singular base.
All 3 functions attach at one base
The hand dryer is elevated to allow for more room when drying hands
Alignments inform the shape of the faucet

Design-Build Chair DIS Copenhagen Summer 2019
Influence
Studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark allowed me to be introduced to incredible works of furniture. Danish design is intentional, simple, and honest. I wanted to incorporate these principals in my chair.
32cm
Many Danish lounge chairs have a low seated angle and seated position. They also typically have around a 104 degree angle between the seat and back for comfort. A curved seat and back also helps to make a wooden surface very pleasant to sit on.
The Design
The design phase started by sketching forms inspired by how the human body looks in a seated position. I wanted to make the seat appear to be floating above the legs, and for the legs to appear thinner than they are. I then began to work with full scale study models in order to find the best dimensions and proportions for the chair in terms of comfort and aesthetics.

The Build
We were given 3 sticks of 3.5cm thick maple to work with, along with the ability use veneer to create bent plywood for the seat and back. I first cut all 5 pieces for each leg to size, then used dominoes to connect them. Next, I glued maple veneer on molds using clamps and ratchet straps. The crossbars were installed using dowels, and the seat and back were glue joints.
Adding a chamfer to the legs implies a smaller thickness, making the chair appear visually lighter.

Semester 6 2019
Furniture & Wine Siit is a source-book style furniture store with a wine bar. De Stijl greatly inspired the design. The principals of De Stijl helped to inform how to place the vertical and horizontal planes that create space. Also, I wanted to create a store that was more like an art gallery than a standard showroom. Having a wine bar encourages customers to socialize and sip on wine while they admire the furniture pieces.
In short, let the furniture shine.

Placing furniture in front of colored backdrops helps to create visual depth and differentiate the pieces.
The arrangement of the vertical and horizontal planes creates a more organic circulation path for customers to roam and view the furniture in the order they desire
An overhanging parapet helps to reduce direct light in the space, so the furniture has controlled soft lighting.
