Our goal is to launch an exclusive Shadowman shoe - 500 pairs to be made. In concert with a private viewing of the new Richard Hambleton movie by Academy Award Nominated Director Oren Jacoby, a pop-up experience will be held allowing a select group of guests access to Richard Hambleton’s artwork and the limited edition Nike shoes. After this VIP screening of the movie, a pop-up show launching the shoes will take centre stage amongst life size photo murals and large prints of Hambleton’s shadow figures caught on film during his reign as king of the Downtown New York street art movement during the 80’s. From our first event, we hope to take this pop-up experience and the limited edition shoes to cities around the world where the shadowman was known to stalk the streets.


HAMBLETON The undisputed “Godfather of Street Art”, Richard Hambleton was born in Vancouver in 1952. In the early 80’s Richard was more famous and his artwork more sought after than his contemporaries Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. While Basquiat and Haring became victims of the scene, Hambleton survived and disappeared until the last 10 years brought back a ghost. The last living member of the Downtown Street Art Kings... Thrust back in the limelight thanks to attention from Armani, Phillips Gallery and now Amazon who have secured the rights to Shadowman - The Movie, Richard still paints his shadow figures today... The artist that said no to Andy Warhol. The artist who inspired Blek Le Rat and Banksy. The SHADOWMAN - Richard Hambleton.




When Hambleton painted the streets, he wore the NIKE Cortez. Now, 30 years later, we aim to create a Shadowman edition Nike Cortez shoe that embraces the legacy of Richard Hambleton. Provided in a shoe box that will reflect the splatter and rawness of the Shadowman paintings, the entire edition will be a testament to the artist and his work. Delivered in a custom dust bag, each recipient will receive a NIKE x HAMBLETON paint brush (similar to that which Richard paints the Shadowman with) and a small, numbered limited edition print of a Shadowhead.

WHY NIKE?









Our ambition is to host a number of pop-up experiences in key locations around the world that best represent and showcase the influence The Shadowman has had on street culture. Cities ranging from Richards adopted home of New York to London, Berlin, Paris, Milan & Tokyo. The Galleries will house a small collection of original SHADOWNMAN works, alongside large scale photographs taken during his 80’s domination of the downtown street art scene. Amongst all the SHADOWMAN works and photograghs, the shoes will be showcased as a testament to the continuation of the SHADOWMAN legacy. Each pop-up gallery will be open for 48-72 hours and will be the only location where these limited edition shoes will be available.

FILM SCREENING

To celebrate the launch of the Nike x SHADOWMAN collab, in concert with our pop-up event tour, a screening of the SHADOWMAN movie will be available for an exclusive guest list. After the VIP screening, the pop-up experience will be open to the public and our invited guests - the official launch of the collaborative project and product. Each of the invited guests will recieve an exclusive Shadowman collectible gift... Delivered in a custom dust bag and collectable artwork box, each recipient will receive a custom SHADOWMAN Nike hooded sweatshirt, branded paint brush (similar to that which Richard paints the Shadowman with) and a small limited edition print of a Shadowhead. All items will only be produced to fulfil the limited amount of Nike Cortez shoes, and then be retired to enhance their exclusivity and worth.

GALLERY EVENT TIMELINE Our aim is to launch pop-up events in New York and London as our main focus, to maximise and ensure a unique and rare expereince for all guests. With the Shadowman artwork proving to be very popular in the UAE, we also hope to host an event in Dubai in 2018.
