Mystery at Discovery Lake When Elizabeth, Alexis, Cailey, Sydney, McKenzie and Kate end up as roommates at summer cam[, they soon suspect there's more going on than crafts and Bible quizzes. Haunting howls… Surly attitudes… Whispered tales of thievery… Threats of danger… A decades-old mystery resurfaces, and the Camp Club Girls join forces to solve the perplexing puzzle. But will they put the pieces together before time runs out?
Courageous Four Men, One Calling: To Serve and Protect. As law enforcement officers, Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, and their partners willingly stand up to the worst the world can offer. Yet at the end of the day they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. But they're quickly discovering that their standard is missing the mark. They know that God desires to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, but their children are beginning to frift farther and farther away from them. Will they be able to find a way to serve and protect those who are most dear to them? When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. Can a newfound urgency help these dads draw closer to God...and to their children?
The Fish For nearly two thousand years, the fish has been a symbol of Christianity. It is interesting to note the fish is an aquatic creature designed for underwater life. Fish come in all shapes, sizes, colours and characteristics and are a great source of sustenance for many other creatures. They can lay millions of tiny eggs, most of which end up as food for others. Thus it appears the main purpose of a fish is to sustain and strengthen other creatures. Christians are Heavenly creatures designed for a spiritual life. We, too, come in all shapes, sizes, colours and personalities. Christians have many purposes – one of the highest being a source of nourishment to the needy. In an intolerant world, we are to be tolerant. In a world of hatred, we are to love. In a world of despair, we are to give hope. Many people will feed from our Christian attributes as, we in turn, feed from the teaching of Jesus Christ. Just as fish lay many eggs, we hopefully produce many acts of kindness, love, self-control and compassion to be digested and turned to energy by the hungry souls in our community. Just like the fish, we are unlikely to see the results of our eggs (spiritual works). We will never really know who was led to Christ and salvation through our labour, until we reach Heaven. A typical day after breakfast would find them dividing into work groups for such tasks as painting, vehicle repairs, construction, and kitchen duties. They all worked diligently toward the goal set out for them. The main objective of the trip was to have the third floor of the orphanage prepared for the concrete to be poured and that was accomplished. Praise the Lord! Evenings included spending valuable time with the Mexican children, soccer games, church services, and shopping. Events to be highlighted comprised of a purity session with the girls, Thursday evening services for the children, and a grocery outreach in which 120 bags were prepared and distributed.
While reading through the 1,189 chapters of the Bible (929 in the Old, 260 in the New) can seem to be a formidable task, following the right reading plan can easily get you through in the course of one year. I know this to be true having read through the Bible many times myself. Let me share with you some of the more popular reading plans:
1. Tried & True This reading plan has been the favorite of multitudes of saints down through the generations. It involves reading 3 chapters of the Bible every day for 6 days of the week, and 5 on Sunday, totaling 23 chapters a week. By following this simple plan you will easily make through the Bible in a year's time. The only down side of this plan (if you can call it that) is it will take you 40 weeks to get through the Old Testament. If that causes you to go weak at the knees, why not try a variation of
2. Old & New You can change things up a bit by
reading 3 chapters in the Old Testament and 2 in the New. This will take you through the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice. You will even have some time left over at the end of the year! This plan is probably the most preferable as you get to read from both Testaments. Plus most people can handle 5 chapters a day, especially if you split them up between morning and evening. Another variation of this is the plan I am currently following. I read 2 in the Old, 2 in the New, 5 Psalms, and 1 of Proverbs. This plan will take me through the Old Testament once, the New Testament twice, and the Psalms and Proverbs every 30 days. Mind you, this adds up to 10 chapters a day, so this may be for the more aggressive readers. I really enjoy this reading plan.
3. Saturation in the New Some find the Old Testament to be just too difficult. If that's you, why not try saturating yourself
with the New Testament? Reading 3 chapters a day will take you through the 260 chapters of the New Testament 4 times. How familiar do you think you would become with the New Testament reading it that many times? What do you think it would do for your spiritual life?
4. Everyone needs a plan Everyone needs a plan to help them read their Bible consistently. A good reading plan is useful in keeping you on track, measuring your progress, and helping you to keep going. I encourage you to find the one that is right for you and stick to it. And don't think you have to wait until the first of the year to begin. Start today! It is well worth the pursuit.

Some great witnessing opportunities were made available to them as they went out as a group of white people working as a community, but more so when they all wore their matching ‘Children of Hope’ shirts, giving them the chance to explain about the organization and reaching the lost for Christ. On behalf of the group, gratitude for prayer and financial support has been expressed. They enjoyed safe travels and true blessings through this experience.

Four Essentials of a Healthy Church Part Four: Prayer What does a healthy church look like? Well, so far we have seen that it’s a body of believers who are devoted to the teaching of the Word of God. They enjoy close fellowship with one another (ministering to and interacting with each another) and they frequently celebrate the Lord’s Supper. But there is one more activity that is absolutely essential for the local body of believers and it is probably the single most thing the Church struggles with and that is prayer. Paul writes that we should pray continually, everything by prayer and petition, be devoted to prayer. Question: how is this possible? Paul also wrote in Romans 8: 2830: we are to be conformed to the likeness of His Son. That includes prayer. The example of Jesus in the gospels we notice He was in constant communion with His Father. Henry Blackabey says concerning Jesus: “Through His prayer life He always knew the goals, purposes, plan and activity of the Father. Out of His prayer life He knew the Father’s will and obeyed. It will be the same in every church, the church that prays together as the Body of Christ will both know and do the will of God.” No doubt this is why Jesus spoke the works in Luke 19:46 “My house will be called a house of prayer” so could we not say the building we meet in as a body of believers should first and foremost be a place of prayer? After Jesus departed to His Father, we find His disciples obeying His command: “do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift My Father prom-
ised.” Acts 1, as they are waiting, we are told in verse 14 they ALL joined together constantly in prayer. So with the birth of the Church and an additional 3000 disciples of Christ, I expect the 120 disciples lead the way by example, so in verse 42 we read they devoted themselves to prayer. I believe it was C.H. Spurgeon (a great British Pastor) who said we should speak to God from our hearts and talk to Him as a child talks to his father. I believe as the early Christians interacted with each other and together communicated with their loving Heavenly Father, and He with them, their prayer times became the most ex-

citing part of their fellowship. Read carefully what God says in Isaiah 55:8-9, “for My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” In Proverbs 3: 5-6 “Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In ALL your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” As the Heavenly Father communicated to these early Christians, He would reveal Himself more fully to them but He also revealed His thoughts and His ways. Take note also of Jeremiah 33:2-3 “This is what the Lord says, He who made the earth, the Lord who formed and established it, the Lord is His name; call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” The early church was totally dependent upon revelation from their Heavenly Father as He communicated with them, but He also answered their prayers and released His power so they could join Him in His work. Without prayer none of this would have h ap pe ne d . “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him” Heb.11:6.
