Lincoln Heights, Ohio is another historical town that is has been on the recent decline. A predominately African American c o m m u n i t y, t h e t o w n’ s h i s t o r y w a s r i c h , v i b r a n t , a n d v e r y close-knit. They want to be among the first communities in the area to feature an ecovillage with integrated active and passive energ y systems, mixed use program, and space for community connection. This proposal is based on the idea of “modular agg re g a t i o n ” , m e a n i n g t h a t t h e s t r u c t u r e ( a 1 2 ’ x 2 0 ’ x 1 2 ’ 3 D g r i d ) a n d solar array canopy would be constructed first, allowing residents and businesses to build and expand their units by infilling walls, ceilings, and floors. This also means that the block would be at least net-0 until about 40% development. Semi-open spaces were carved f r o m t h e b u i l d i n g f o r m s t o a l l o w f o r m o r e re t a i l s t o re f r o n t s p a c e a t the ground level, to enhance the spatial experience, and to allow for more southern light and natural ventilation.

With pivot points at the center of each outside wall, the Tiny House takes on a dynamic, adaptable form. The windows in both the bedroom area and kitchen / living space are slotted into the walls surrounding them, compensating for any loss or gain of wall space on either side. These details allow the house to change form in order to better fit a location or environment either visually or spacially. Because the pivot point is centered in the walls, the available living area remains unchanged throughout all of the above variations.
