When Sibutramine was first formulated, it was intended for use as an antidepressant.

In humans, Sibutramine powder , which is a monoamine reuptake inhibitor, minimizes the reuptake of certain substances at certain levels. For example, it reduces dopamine by 16 percent, serotonin by 54 percent, and norepinephrine by 73 percent. Within 12 months of continued use, 75 percent of those who used sibutramine maintained their weight loss, compared to 42 percent of those who took placebo.

In another randomized controlled trial involving 605 volunteers, a different method was put to test. The volunteers were given 10 milligram of sibutramine per day in addition to a very low-calorie diet. Those who managed to lose at least 5 percent of their baseline weight were randomized to go on taking placebo or 10 milligrams of sibutramine every day for another 18 months. 80 percent of those who took sibutramine managed to maintain their weight loss, compared to only 16 percent of those who took placebo.

Sibutramine powder Dosage The recommended sibutramine dosage is 10 milligrams per day, which should be taken orally.

Depending on your tolerance or clinical effect of the drug, your doctor may change your dose to ensure that you get the best possible results.

For instance, your doctor may adjust your daily dose to 5 milligrams or up to 15 milligrams per day.

MAO inhibitors – tranylcypromine, selegiline, rasagiline, phenelzine, isocarboxazid and furazolidone.
