Geraldine Farmers’ Market
Every Saturday from October to April, load up on produce, grab a coffee, gobble a pastry (or two) and chat to the locals while musicians strum a beat. Open 9am-12.30pm.

The Vintage Car and Machinery Museum
Admire a shiny array of classic cars. There are over 1400 exhibits in here, including the oldest working tractor in New Zealand.

A five-minute stroll from Geraldine’s main street leads to four, easy short walks and trees that are well over 800 years old.
White-water Rafting
South Canterbury offers one of the best white-water rafting experiences in the country. Located in the wild landscape of the Southern Alps. Companies such as Hidden Valleys in Geraldine and Peel Forest Outdoor Centre have options to suit every excitement threshold.
Rangitata River Salmon fishing
Roughly 20 minutes from Geraldine. The best salmon fishing at the river mouth is from mid-November to mid-March, while up-river fishing is better between January and March. Early in the season, sea-run brown trout are also ample.
Big Rock Adventures Canyoning
Explore Kaumira Canyon with the experts, sliding, abseiling and ziplining through the crags for a full five hours. Take a deep breath and jump in.
