Endorsed or Not Endorsed? Know What Comms to Install in Your Helmet
For five years now, Lightspeed Aviation has delivered ANR systems for helmets with the Zulu H-Mod, responding to overwhelming customer demand for active noise reduction for helmets.
Using the award winning ANR technology found in Lightspeed’s Zulu ANR headset series as a template, this purpose-built ANR system designed specifically for aviation helmets focuses on the comfort and clarity fixed wing pilots and Heli pilots have come to expect. The LSA 56 ANR system was developed specifically with Gentex for the HGU-56/P helmet, and a growing army of pilots rely on this trusted technology in both applications.
Lightspeed endorses every one of it’s ANR systems in helmets. Beyond the technology, getting the installation just right is a key to ensuring the system has the performance and longevity you expect. Lightspeed has hand-picked a global team of skilled technicians and helmet experts and certified them to install and service the systems we sell, and provide the after sales service you expect.
One of the most important features unique to the helmet application is the need for an emergency egress. Lightspeed engineers developed an integrated “quick disconnect” that will automatically break free ensuring that you and your helmet exit the aircraft with no noticeable drag from the connection to the panel.
There still remains a temptation to install deconstructed aviation headsets into a helmet. This creates a series of problems including poor fit and comfort as well as nonoptimized ANR.
A deconstructed headset from any manufacturer “installed” into a helmet not only voids the warranty of the original aviation headset but is not endorsed by the manufacturer. The installer may or may not offer a supplemental warranty but recognize that if it is not backed by the manufacturer, you may have no warranty at all. Why take the risk?
