Thousands of fashion designers, models, buyers, accredited journalists and invited guests converge on New York City every February for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to see what's coming for the next season. Among the 90-plus shows was one by the Academy of Art University, a regular participant and often the only school to present.

Backstage was a mix of excitement and just a hint of insanity as up-and-coming designers put finishing touches on looks, were interviewed by international members of the media, and took in the experience of presenting at Lincoln Center tents for the first time.
