PROJECT BRIEF The table is designed keeping in mind the idea of having a space which is formal and an informal both at the same time. This place serves as a discussion space, breakout space, lunch space and a informal brainstorming session area. The idea was to to provide the user with a table that could be used by one person for discussion while the other can use it for breakout as well. This was done keeping one side of the table fixed with services in it and the other part divided into 3 equal modules that have castors so that they can be separated . Materials used are colored HDF and MS hollow box sections as the table is placed in Pixibee office it follows the language of partitions and hence the same concept.

PROJECT BRIEF BIRA means brother in North India and ‘The brave one’ in Bengal. The company started off with a name Biru which means beer, however relating the company back to India the name was changed to “bira”. The 91 stands for the country code of india. The mascot is the representative of everything that the brand stands for. A tropical creature that resonates with the rest of the world, its fun loving, original and remarkably social. The Site is of 600 sqm.

CONCEPTUAL TAKE Bira portrays itself as an unorthodox brand. It promotes the spirit of rebellion against the conventional, being bold and playful. Taking in consideration of these words the concept was : Breaking free from the rigid behaviour of grid and playing around deconstructing the grid connecting it to the rebel identity of the compnay. Colours like orange, red, black and white are used in the office constantly along with the other colours used by the company. Rebel and bold could be shown in the space through- sloped walls, one wall with a different material than the rest, using a abstact colour on one of the elements and the rest in same colour. The grid is breaking not only in the 2D but in the 3D as well. The pattern is incorporated in the partitions and also the flooring. Partitions are of two different materials glass being one them so as to keep the transparency permanent throughout the office.

Residential | Semester-4 | Compact Living | Mumbai

PROJECT BRIEF

CONCEPTUAL TAKE

The project also deals with a couple of whom one is a apparel designer and another is a contemprorary dancer who wishes to live on the top most floor of a exixsting building in Mumbai such that they are connected with nature, yet living close to the heart of the city, whilst living far from the crowded streets below.

The idea was simple to use the lower level as the dancing studio and living space and thus keeping the curved facade openable as the terrace can be used in case of performances, practice or social gatherings.The staircase and space around it is used a seating element.

The site is of 36 sqm.

The upper level thus has a bedroom and design studio combined in a box. The room can be divided if one wants to sleep otherwise used as a studio space.

POWER GRID Lighting Installation | Navratri 2018 | Location: CEPT

CONCEPTUAL TAKE The festival of navratri is all about dance, music and motion. There is a sense of dynamism in it. The power grid is based on the concept of dynamism- Fluidity that one sees when one stands and sees the installation from different positions. The project was done by a team of 12 students, where in I had taken the lead along with 2 more students.

PROCESS OF MAKING

Based on this simple idea power grid is made of 4 panels each 4 by 4 ft. The size of pvc pipes reduced horizontally and vertically by 2.7 cm while diagonally its was a different calculation. The base was of MDF(12mm).The lighting was LED strip lights which were later replaced by series lights due to being more easy to handle and safe.The pipes had cut outs to let light come out and the ends were closed by using translucent acrylic to hide the source of light. These 4 panels were joined together with nuts and bolts and then a strong metal frame was made with MS Hollow box section available out of the Tackboard stands and welded in the workshop. The 4 panels were separately connected to the frame and then the installation was hung on a wall with cables.

These 4 panels were CNC cut along with the holes for inserting pipes. The whole idea was to let the installation serve ,more then just a lighting element. The element serves as a panel worth looking at even without the presence of light while using the light highlights the flow of point grid.

SUMMER SCHOOL Museums of Europe | SWS- 2019 | Bombay, Sttutgart, Berlin, Paris

ABOUT THE COURSE The programme undertook the visit of three cities - Paris, Berlin, and Stuttgart and key museums were visited and discussed for their architecture, curatorial programme, and a select set of objects on display within them. The design of buildings, as well as the adoption of certain thematic organisation of the galleries in these museums, along with some of the crucial works of art and architecture displayed in here - helped us understand the ongoing project of Modern and Postmodern Europe. These were accompanied by expert lectures by local scholars in each city. During this course i came across a lot of pieces of art and architecture which were made with similar concepts or thoughts. These were than collected in pictures and we had to write about what makes us think the art pieces are similar, what do we understand from them and how do we build our views and perpective about art. How is Europe shaped? What shaped the idea and self-image of Europe? And how did these experiences shape the universal (or so imagined) ideas of Modernism, Modernity, and the Postmodern? were some questions which this summers school raised
