TAHIRAH'S BIOGRAPHY Reggae Songstress and Songwriter Tamoya Simpson aka Tahirah was born on the 3rd of October 1990 in Fort George District, St Ann. A former student of Marcus Garvey Technical High School that studied business. Tahirah grew up singing in the church at a tender age, as she grew older so does her voice with her powerful melodic sound. She is a humble and conscious person that believes anything is possible once there is life! Her musical influences are Marcia Griffiths, Beres Hammond, Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Queen Ifrica, Etana, Chronixx and Tessanne. These are entertainers that leave their impressions and inspires Tahirah to stay positive and write some deep and meaningful lyrics. In high school she was persuaded by friends to start writing but didn’t until 2010. In 2012, she started singing on a dead yawd band, where she travels the parishes in Jamaica. She did her first recording 2013 at an unprofessional studio in Kellits, Clarendon. In early 2014, she decided to pen some songs like « It Nuh Pretty « , » Plee », « Secret Sin », » Why », « Let Go », « I Hear My Calling », « Ghetto Youths Live Up ». She is now working on her EP out of studio professional like Category 5 Recording Studio to Anchor Recording Studio. she is now signed to Black 90 Records owned by Laurence Andrew Warren. Now she is anticipating the release of the EP with some Bombshell tracks that touches on issues on the injustice, poverty,violence, and love from a soulful place. Her goal is to travel the world and bring love and joy to the people with her unique style and her energetic captivating sound.
TAHIRAH : A NEW VOICE IS COMING OUT OF JAMAICA A new voice is coming out of Jamaica with the female reggae songstress and song writer Tamoya Simpson aka Tahirah and the release of her debut EP titled Sanctify. The EP has been released end of June 2015, with a launch hosted at Blue Essence Lounge located King’s Plaza in Kingston. This month of august Tahirah drops the First official video for her EP with the song titled Fyah. This is that song that will introduce Tahirah to her fans worldwide.. The natural tones, soulful melodies and some valuable lyrics on issues such as injustice, poverty,violence, and love truly show Tahirah’s ability to captivate her audience at different levels of the musical expression. The musical quality of this debut EP is already a success, which offers a very promising note to the debut and the future musical carreer of Tahirah. Tahirah was born on the 3rd of October 1990 in St Ann. Described as having a soulful voice with a powerful melodic sound. She is a humble and conscious person that believes anything is possible once there is life! « I love to write just as much as singing. I want people to relate to my songs when they hear them », she said. Tahirah can currently be seen promoting her EP album on radio, live stages and through interviews and album reviews. She has had the opportunity to gain experience doing the rounds in preparation for Sanctify’s launch. She has done shows in St Elizabeth, St Catherine and Kingston. A strong cast of musicians worked with Fraser on Sanctify, including guitarist Mitchum ‘Khan’ Chin and drummer Oral Browne.
