WHY: Prague as the country’s capital for more than 10 centuries is full of historic and cultural highlights such as the Prague castle – the biggest castle grounds in the world, seat of the kings and now the residing president, Charles Bridge or many of the museums and beautiful small cobblestone streets. HOW TO GET THERE: The easiest way is to fly to the Prague airport. Direct flights to Prague are operated by major airlines and depart from most European airports. The front nine holes, designated as the “Links Nine”, and the back nine holes, designated as the “Lakes Nine” provides an interesting variety of playing conditions. The clubhouse and restaurant area was developed with very sensitive reconstruction of a 200-year-old horse stable. The fi rst-9 has more forgiving rough but the second-9 is fi lled with long fescue mounds and devilish water hazards which could have you screaming back to the clubhouse needing to buy more balls in order to fi nish the round! This championship 18-hole par-72 open-links style golf course (SOUDNY) is located north-east from Prague. You may be surprised to learn that the course was built on a former tank-training field of the Soviet army. Characterised by wrapped fairways, long distances between the holes, high rough, and a lot of water hazards the course is challenge from the very fi rst tee: par 5, with a huge 500 m from the yellow and 426m from the red tees. Better then most Czech courses we have a beautiful cascade of small lakes, which is a huge challenge near a few holes. There is 9-hole practice course, practice facilities and a modern clubhouse including bar and restaurant. The Sokolov golf course was built as an exemplary redevelopment project within this mining area. The slightly undulating course is suggestive of a Scottish links with its large greens, deep bunkers, wide fairways and windy conditions. Bratislava WHY: The capital of Slovakia is quite small in comparison with the capitals of the countries around, however it doesn’t lag behind any of them. With its beautiful historic centre together with great natural conditions it represents the city with unique character. You can see many cultural and historical sites, 2 castles, churches, museums, and go for a walk at the same time to a big forest park just behind the corner. It is also the city of many restaurants with local meals and cafÊs and you will not definitely know which one to choose while walking around the city. WHERE: Bratislava is located in the south-west of Slovakia, close to boarders with Austria and the Czech Republic. This 18-hole championship course was designed by Hans Georg Erhardt, a world famous architect and was opened in 1997. The Hungarian Open Amateur Championship was held there twice in 2011 and 2012.
Founded in 1998, Old Lake Golf Club represents one of the first golf courses in Hungary. Built on the former property of the noble Eszterházy family, the facility is one of the most popular in the region. The 18-hole championship course with par 70 is situated in an arboretum and offers a unique golfing experience in a beautiful Hungarian landscape.
