The Czech Republic lies in the heart of Europe. Prague, the capital, known as the Golden city or the City of a hundred spires, has been a popular city break destination for some time and is now emerging as a remarkable destination for Golf. Top quality golf has a long tradition in Czech Republic. The first golf courses were open in the west of the country in the spa towns of Karlovy Vary in 1904 and in 1905 in Marianske Lazne. Since this time the Czech Republic has hosted many golfi ng events and in recent years the European Tour has returned. With a low number of Czech Golfers, it makes it a heaven for golf tourist.
Beyond West Bohemia, there is an increasing selection of championship courses around Prague; most of them within a 30 – 45 minute drive from the city centre. There are many other excellent courses in the North and South Moravia areas including Celadna the current Czech Republic host to the European Tour. All this, plus the beautiful countryside and many historical highlights will bring breadth and depth to any golfi ng break. Although the Czech Republic has more than 80 golf clubs, our golf professionals have reviewed and evaluated all the courses to ensure we are offering superior level golf. WHY: Prague as the country’s capital for more than 10 centuries is full of historic and cultural highlights such as the Prague castle – the biggest castle grounds in the world, seat of the kings and now the residing president, Charles Bridge or many of the museums and beautiful small cobblestone streets. It is also a great place to relax, go shopping or enjoy many restaurants, bars and excellent nightlife. Prague is also a great base from which to explore the rest of the beautiful countryside, castles and other historic places of the Czech Republic as well as the wonderful Czech hospitality. WHERE: Prague lies in the centre of the Czech Republic with the Vltava River meandering through its heart. In the area of Prague there are more than ten attractive 18-hole courses, the majority within a 30-45 minute drive from the heart of the city. Worth mentioning for example is GC Karlstejn which has hosted the European PGA Tour and has stunning views over the 14th century Karlstejn castle.
HOW TO GET THERE: The easiest way is to fly to the Prague airport. Direct flights to Prague are operated by major airlines and depart from most European airports. You may be surprised to learn that flight duration from London it is only 90 minutes. WHEN: High golfing season is from April to October, however you can usually play both during late March and early November. OUR TIP: Enjoy favourable golf weather all throughout the summer and have an unforgettable dinner at one of the famous restaurants along the river with stunning panoramas of the Charles Bridge and Prague castle.

This excellent course hosted the European PGA Golf Tour in 1997. There are 27 challenging holes with wide but tricky greens along with several ponds and a hilly profile, making the course very memorable for all golfers. Located not far from Prague centre in the beautiful Czech countryside, the magnificent Karlstejn castle also provides a spectacular backdrop. The clubhouse has superb facilities including a great summer terrace. Karlstejn is one of the leading courses not only in the area of Prague, but in the whole Czech Republic. This biggest golf resort in the Czech Republic opened the first 18 holes in 2002. Konopiste offers two high standard 18-hole courses - Radecky and d’Este. In close vicinity to Prague and easily accessible from the Prague airport, this 18-hole world-class course that opened in 2009 was built with a vision to create the best course in the Czech Republic. The course is maintained with the highest attention to detail. The elegantly shaped contours in the moderately hilly terrain with rust-coloured rocks lining water hazards make for a striking layout. Casa Serena Golf is a unique golf course, accessible only to a limited number of visitors. Located close to famous UNESCO Heritage area of Kutna Hora is one of the best golf courses in the area of Central Europe. There are 18holes with the total length of 6,364 m and par 71. Casa Serena hosted several events in recent years, such us the European Senior Tour. Designed by European Golf Design as inland links golf course with wide fairways and larges greens, this venue offers a great and unique golfing experience. HOW TO GET THERE: The journey to Karlovy Vary from Prague airport by minibus takes about 90 minutes and Plzen is only 60 minutes away.
WHERE: The area of West Bohemia is located west from of Prague and stretches out to the south-west boarder with Germany. There are more than six interesting quality 18-hole courses including the most famous in Marianske Lazne and Karlovy Vary. The best access to the courses is from Karlovy Vary or alternatively Plzen when combining with the Prague area courses.

The original golf club and its 9-hole course was established in Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad) in 1904. The current 18 -hole championship course was built in 1935. This golf course is one of the oldest and the most beautiful in Central Europe, located in the magnificent setting of the Krusne hory mountain range, only 120 km west of Prague. The course hosted many local and international tournaments. The new luxurious clubhouse opened in 1997 and offers exceptional facilities and service. You can find a beautiful view of the 18th hole from the restaurant terrace. The Royal Golf Club Marianske Lazne (Marienbad) is a beautiful mature 18-hole course set in the woodland grounds in the famous spa town west of Prague, not far from the borders of Germany. The course, that is the oldest in the Czech Republic, has been professionally designed and masterfully landscaped. The course, orginally opened in 1905 by His majesty King Edward VII, offers a lot of challenging water and sand hazzards as hosted many local and international golf events including European Tour. The Cihelny course, that hosted the European Junior Championships in 2003, is full of challenging water and sand hazzards. Alternatively use Bratislava airport in Slovakia or Prague airport and we will organize airport transfers or car hire for you upon arrival. The Golf Resort Austerlitz (Slavkov) provides an 18-hole course, which has been designed very much in the ‘Scottish style’, with a good number of deep bunkers and heath land to match. This attractive golf course is situated only 20 minutes by car both from Brno airport and 30 minutes from Brno city centre. Prague is about a 2 hours drive by motorway. Located in a splendid hillside location in South Moravia, 9 km from Brno, this relatively new golf resort, which completed its 27-holes in 2007, was designed and built by the renowned British company Gaunt & Marnoch. It challenges any standard of golfer with its undulating fairways and greens, hilly set up and well placed water hazards. WHERE: North Moravia spreads over the northeastern corner of the Czech Republic; the main city of the region is Ostrava. There are fi ve attractive 18-hole courses in the area. This region is the current host for the PGA European Tour at GC Celadna. This course was designed by M. A. Jiménez and set in the beautiful Beskydy Mountains area sometimes compared with British Columbia.
HOW TO GET THERE: Direct flights are available only from Prague, so we recommend using either Brno airport or Katowice and Krakow Airports in Poland and we would provide airport transfers or car hire upon arrival. The journey from these airports to the Ostrava region by minibus takes about 2 hours. Fast trains also operate from Prague to Ostrava and get you there comfortably in 3 hours. Miguel Jimenez designed both of the 18-hole championship courses, The Old Course and The New Course. The courses are distinct, but each presents its own challenge. Set at the foot of the Beskydy Mountains amongst the attractive countryside, the golf resort also offers high quality activities and services alongside very comfortable accommodation.
