Clipa Siderala is a charitable, nongovernmental, non-political, non-profit and nonreligious organization which started its activity in 1989 and was officially registered in 1996. It is a member of the National Youth Council of Moldova. In 2004 the organization was awarded with a certificate acknowledging its contribution to the society as a socially useful organization by the Ministry of Justice. Since the beginning it has taken the initiative in providing shelter and charity support for children and youth who are in difficult social situations and extremely vulnerable to the threat of present economic situation in Moldova, where poverty remains widespread, especially in rural areas.

Who We Are We are a group of people, gathered together by the Children Charitable Foundation
AIMS and OBJECTIVES 1. providing social and recreational opportunities for orphans as a mean of mainstreaming them into society; 2. moral and material support for children in vulnerable situations and crisis; 3. implementing youth services and community awareness activities; 4. promotion of healthy lifestyle; 5. promotion of volunteer spirit and community involvement in Moldova.

‘The Island’ ‘The Island’ is a center for educational and social rehabilitation and development of teenagers and young adults, located 70 km to the North of the capital of Moldova, Chisinau.

Why is ‘The Island’ needed
‘The Island’ has the main aim to provide social rehabilitation and development together with psychological and educational help to orphanage graduates. We strongly believe that this will positively influence their attitude towards the society and the law, and allows them to get their fair part of chances in live they deserve.

The GOAL

To create in Moldova the first center for children with a practical application.
To fully withdraw children from bad human predilections - from smoking and alcoholism, from the rage and vanity, from envy and hate.
The ISLAND PROJECT
The Concept ‘The Island’ Youngsters will be placed in a relatively comfortable and family-alike environment, where they will live, learn crafts, widen their general knowledge, develop their social skills. Applying special ways of mentoring in combination with education, work, culture and sport will build the fundaments of self-identity and development of personality. We strongly believe that at a further stage of their development this will positively influence their attitude towards the society and the law, and allows them to get their fair part of chances in live they deserve.

ACHIEVEMENT The concept and implementation of ‘The Island’ initiative started in the early 2009. In March 2009, 5 acres of land was bought located 70 km to the North of the capital of Moldova. During the next year we have been reviewing and challenging the basic concept of ‘The Island’. We have requested and received approvals and support from various Ministries of Moldova. We are already working on individual cases of orphans: teens and young adults, identifying the best approach and proving support showing that that besides all circumstances, we can change the future of those youngsters!

WHAT TO DO We need to build: I. houses, where youth will live. II. farms and greenhouses, where youth will get their food from. III. workshop areas, where youth can learn crafts and work together. We need to purchase and install: I. utilities in houses. II. farm equipment. III. green houses equipment. IV. workshops tools and machines. We need to invite: I. orphans-recent graduates, who want to live and learn in this new environment. II. tutors who will guide orphans in their socialization process. III. teachers who will bring their knowledge and enthusiasm to ‘The Island’.
