MATERIAL COLLECTION
we will partner with PADUCAH RIGGING to collect used marine rope for the tote bag. they are one of the largest suppliers for rope on the waterways and have an already established recycling program.
paducah rigging will deliver free recyclable “SUPER SNACKS” to companies who show participatory interest in the program. those companies then load the bags full of used rope they wish to dispose of. once full, arrangements are made for paducah rigging to pick up the sacks. the bags will then be transported to NAUTICA’S WAREHOUSE.
ROPE POLLUTION
693 species of marine animals have had some type of interaction with human-made debris, with 17% of them listed with some degree of vulnerability to extinction. Around 80% of the time, these encounters injure or kill the animal. 92% of animal-debris interactions are with plastic debris. marine mammals are especially vulnerable to marine plastic debris, with over 2 MILLION of the reports involving these animals tangled in ropes or netting.
