Antibodies for Parkinson's disease targets

To provide the tools you need for Parkinson’s disease research, we partnered with The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) to develop rabbit monoclonal antibodies for leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2), alpha-synuclein, DJ-1, RAB8A, and RAB10. We've put together a video to showcase what the partnership means for the advancement of future Parkinson's disease research breakthroughs. Conjugated primary antibodies against neuronal and glial markers Advantages of directly conjugated neural markers - Speed up your staining protocol. Directly conjugated antibodies already have the Alexa Fluor® dye, fluorescent protein or enzyme attached, so you can skip that secondary antibody staining step. - Easily design multicolour experiments. Avoid the stress of finding primary antibodies from different host species. Directly conjugated antibodies allow you to side-step secondary antibody cross-reactivity.

Immunohistochemistry of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded rat cerebellum tissue sections stained with anti-NeuN [EPR12763] – neuronal marker (Alexa Fluor® 647) (ab190565). DAPI-only control is from another section and controls for tissue autofluorescence.

THE ADDICTIVE BRAIN The Addictive Brain is a project that focuses on science communication. Founded by Dr. Chinmaya Sadangi, a neuroscientist and a passionate science communicator, he aims to bridge the gap between scientists and the public by explaining science in ways that non-scientists can understand, “We aim to spread awareness about how scientists utilize tax payer’s money/ government funding to help develop a better world and encourage women and underrepresented minorities can get interested in studying STEM subjects.”

Why was The Addictive Brain set up? “One of the major factors that led us to create The Addictive Brain was the rising misconceptions about science. The non-scientists we speak with often have myths or misconceptions about science-related topics. “Often, people may read media reports and consider it to be true, whereas it’s far from the truth. For example, many people believe the myth that vaccination causes autism, and it was spread by some media article. And there are not just a few, but many such articles posted by nonreliable sources that spread myths. “We wanted to create a platform where scientists directly share their day to day experiences, studies, and educate people directly. For transparency, we also encourage direct interactions between our contributors and audience. We have been receiving great feedback so far and people wish to see so much more.”
