Get Your Glow On!
Unlike gyms focussing on working out, or weight clubs which focus only on calories, Glow classes believe the best way for better health is a combined approach of exercise and diet. Margery Wilson visited her local Glow class ran by Liz Ford to find out more...
I
t was with some trepidation that I pulled into the car park at Beaconhill Community Centre in Cramlington on a dark, wet September evening. It was years since I had done anything more strenuous than walking, but the information video on the 'Glow' website assured me that I could work at my own pace and ability. As soon as I entered the spacious hall I felt comfortable – the buzz of conversation and the greeting of the coach, Liz, were very welcoming. Liz told me about the session and how she had a background knowledge of dietary needs and healthy eating plans. She introduced me to the members who had arrived and gave me a basic health questionnaire to fill in (this was purely for my own well-being). Having returned the form, the ladies around me included me in their conversation and told me about the myriad of social activities Liz arranged for them as well as taking the classes. After about half an hour, Liz gave a little talk – this week about Osteoporosis – then the work began! There were about 40 ladies there, and we started with a warm-up session which consisted of a series of gentle movements performed with background music. We then had a 'water break' and the workout part of the session began. For each exercise (which was repeated for 30 seconds) Liz showed an 'easy' version and a more energetic one, and it was left to the individual to decide which one to follow. I opted for the easy version and found I could keep up, though my arm/leg co-ordination left a lot to be 14 14
desired! As the session progressed, however, I found that I was getting into the rhythm and although one exercise flowed into another I felt I was improving. Throughout the workout there were 'water breaks' so I never felt dehydrated. The cool-down at the end was very relaxing and rounded off the session perfectly. Liz showed me a timetable of the weekly sessions and each one consisted of different sets of movements so there was always variety. This variety applied to all her classes on different days, different times and in different venues. I have to admit that I was more than favourably impressed with my first visit. I have been to weight-loss groups and exercise groups before but to have them both included in one session was great. I have never been to a class where I felt so much at home and where there was no sense of others watching and criticising. The atmosphere from start to finish was genuinely friendly and sociable, the surroundings welcoming and the exercises were extremely 'do-able'. I would have no hesitation in recommending these classes (whatever your age, shape, size or fitness level) and am looking forward to next time. I feel as if I have made some new friends and I was certainly 'GLOWING' when I finished. Liz Ford runs Glow classes in Whitley Bay, Seaton Sluice, Blyth, Cramlington and Seaton Burn. To find your local class visit www.glow-fit.co.uk/liz-ford call 07982 126113, or email: liz.ford@glow-fit.co.uk

CHRISTMAS TIPS
Have yourself an
eco-friendly Christmas!
The environment is at the forefront of our minds more than ever. The average household generates more rubbish at Christmas than at any other time of the year, but there are lots of simple steps you can take to make the festivities environmentally friendly. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Food
If you’re the one cooking the Christmas lunch, shop local to help reduce food miles. Buying produce that is in season also helps. Winter greens such as cabbages and sprouts are virtually grown on the doorstep and are in season during the winter months. Consider buying organic too where possible, as no pesticides will have been used. If you really want to be eco-friendly you could go meat free with a nut roast. Meat production is said to contribute to high levels of methane and nitrous oxide. Don’t over buy food either. If you’re realistic about what you need there will be less waste. It’s only one day after all - and the shops will be open again on Boxing Day. Make the most of left-overs, such as the turkey carcass, which can be used as a stock for soups, or make some turkey sandwiches, soup or bubble and squeak. Visit www.lovefoodhatewaste.com for ideas. Make sure wine or champage has real cork stoppers, which can also be used as firelighters. Simple & Effective: Brown paper and festive ribbon
Decorations
Go for a real tree if you can. A real tree not only smells fantastic, but it’s totally recyclable – unlike a fake tree. If you do buy a fake tree, go for one you know you’ll use year after year to get your money’s worth, and avoid unnecessary waste. If you really want to be green, why not make your own decorations by collecting pine cones, tying ribbons to sprigs of holly and bake gingerbread cookies to hang from the tree? Bunting made from second hand textiles can also add some festive cheer. Ditch the glitter too – that the sparkly stuff is rubbish for the environment. It’s not good for sea life – so if you have to have a bit of twinkle in your celebrations, shop around for a biodegradable alternative. If you need new lights for your tree, LEDs are miles better – they use 95% less energy than traditional bulbs. Good for the environment AND your electricity bill.
Gifts
Shop local for your gifts, which will not only help to reduce your carbon footprint but also supports a small business - your cash is going to local people, as well as ensuring your gift is more unique. Recived an unwanted gift? Don’t bin it, donate it to your local charity shop. Don’t overbuy. We’ve all done it. Bought a ‘joke’ present which we know won’t go down well, and will likely be in the bin by New Years Day. Instead go for something useful such as restaurant vouchers or a book. 20
When you’re wrapping presents, shy away from sparkly, plastic-y wrapping paper – this can’t be recycled. Instead, get creative and wrap presents in recyclable brown paper and reusable festive ribbon (see image above).
Recycle
Recycling is so important at this time of year. Christmas cards that don’t have glitter or glue on them can be recycled in your grey bin. Turn those that can’t be recycled into gift tags for next year! Recycle used batteries. Many supermarkets have collection bins or you can pick up a free recycling bag from your local Customer First Centre. These bags can be sealed and placed in your recycling caddy on top of any glass. Or better still, invest in rechargeable batteries and stop using single use batteries altogether. Large biscuit and sweet tins can be reused for storage or recycle them in the main section of your bin, just make sure they’re completely empty and free from plastic and tape etc. If it isn’t shiny metallic or coated in glitter and stays in a ball when scrunched up in your hand then it can go in your recycling bin. All other wrapping and bows or foil should go in your rubbish bin. Keep egg boxes as these are ideal for storing tree baubles safely until they’re needed again next year.

Slow and Steady wins the Fitness Race If you’re taking up execrcise again after a long break, doing it gradually is the key explains MSK Healthcare & Performance Clinic
N
ew Year's resolution time is nearing. Exercise more, get fit, lose weight, sign up for classes - go for it! Then ouch - old knee pain come's back, nagging bad back returns, achilles tendon is sore again, does this sound familiar? Exercise increases stress on our joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments and tissues which is good if done progressively. All too often we see patients who are relativity sedative to suddenly doing 50-star jumps, 100 burpees, countless lunges and 20 shuttle runs 5 nights a week. Then they get injured unable to exercises for weeks, motivation drops off and the momentum to exercise is lost. Between the ages of 30-50 years old muscle strength and muscle mass are constant. As we enter the fifth decade this begins to change with muscle mass reducing (myopenia) along with strength loss (dynapenia). With muscle strength decreasing by 12%-15% each decade after our fifth, with muscle mass reduction by 30%40% in these years, tissues are made up of type I & type II fibres. With aging we lose type II fibres in our tissues. Type II (fast twitch) fibres have a greater force generating capacity than type I. So, with the loss of type II fibres it's understandable that there will be a reduction in strength of the muscles. It has also been found that with age, type II fibre peak-force ability greatly reduces. These type II fibres have the greatest capacity to absorb load that exercise puts through our tissue so it's
24
understandable that if we lose these loading absorbing fibres, then injuries will occur if we load tissues too high, too much and too sudden. However, if we slowly and progressively increase the loads over time the body adapts and handles exercise loads far better, significantly reducing risk of injury. It's far better to build up your exercise duration and intensity gradually over weeks and months especially if you're just getting back into exercising. Complications associated with sarcopenia, the term given to muscular power and mass loss in ageing will be more prevalent in our community in the future. Relating to reduced mobility and the reduction in preforming daily tasks. Much is known of the benefits of resistance training for greater strength and mass amongst the younger population. However, strength training amongst 60 yrs old has the disadvantage of working to combat, reduce or reverse sarcopenia. Regular resistance training in the older population greatly increased type II fibre, thus increasing the force generating capacity of the muscle. The take home message is, if you do start a new fitness programme for the New Year, start slowly and build up gradually to avoid injuries that might stop you exercising all together. GIVE GUM DISEASE
THE BRUSH OFF JOANNE DUGGAN, PRINCIPAL DENTAL SURGEON AT BEDLINGTONSHIRE DENTAL PRACTICE, EXPLAINS HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM GUM DISEASE
WHAT IS GUM DISEASE?
When your gums are sore, inflamed, swollen, bleed or infected this is gum disease. There are two main forms of gum disease: gingivitis and periodontal disease.
WHAT IS GINGIVITIS?
Gingivitis means ‘inflammation of the gums'. This is when the gums around the teeth become very red and swollen. Often the inflamed gums bleed when you clean your teeth. Some people are scared to keep brushing if their gums bleed, but it is really important to continue to do so. Spitting blood out is certainly not pleasant but if you stop cleaning you will not remove the harmful plaque and bacteria that cause the gum inflammation. So persevere, keep brushing, and with good oral hygiene at home the gum inflammation should improve. It is however important to visit your dental team to get the correct advice about
your gums and how best to clean your teeth at home and monitor your gum health.
WHAT IS PERIODONTAL DISEASE?
Teeth are held into place by the jaw bone which is under the gum. When healthy there is usually a very small space between the tooth and the gum where the tooth meets the gum. If there is gum disease, this space between the tooth and gum gets bigger forming a deeper space called a pocket. The deeper the pocket or space surrounding the tooth, the less the tooth is attached to the gum and the more difficult it is to clean; harmful plaque and bacteria can get under the gum and destroy the gum attachment further but also destroy the bone anchoring the tooth. This bone loss leads to the tooth becoming loose and if periodontal disease is not treated can ultimately lead to the loss of a tooth. 31
COMPLICATIONS OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE • •
• • • • •
Bad breath or halitosis Blood on your toothbrush or in the toothpaste you spit out after cleaning your teeth Bad taste in your mouth Abscesses Receding gums Loose teeth Loss of teeth
Gum disease has been linked with other medical conditions such as diabetes, stroke, heart disease, poor pregnancy outcomes and dementia. Although more research is needed to understand the exact link, there is evidence that having a healthy mouth and gums can help improve your general health.
WHAT CAUSES GUM DISEASE AND HOW DO I TRY TO PREVENT IT?
All gum disease is caused by plaque due to the harmful bacteria it contains. There is also a link to periodontal disease with a family history (hereditary), stress, hormonal and diabetes. Smoking too has a strong link with periodontal disease and the advice to all smokers is to stop smoking. To prevent and treat gum disease, you need to make sure you attend the dentist for regular examinations and also for any necessary treatment. However treatment at the dentist or hygienist will not be successful unless you remove all the plaque from your teeth every day. I'm afraid there is a lot of homework for you to do in between dental appointments; you cannot rely on your 3 monthly hygienist visits to do all the work for you. Treatment of periodontal disease will not be successful if you don't clean the plaque off your teeth; your plaque removal at home must be impeccable to remove the harmful bacteria to prevent the disease process progressing. I cannot stress the importance of this enough! Without good plaque removal at home then the disease process will continue. So you must: 1. Brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes, especially before bed 2. Clean interdentally every day. Your dental team will advise you of the best products for you to use for every area of your mouth. Examples of some of the products
32
are floss, interdental brushes and single tufted brushes.
SMOKING AND GUM DISEASE
There is a definite link between smoking and gum disease, so if you are a smoker, stopping is one of the best ways to improve your gum health. Smokers tend to have more hard calculus and plaque, plus smoking reduces the blood supply to the gums. This means infected gums do not heal as well and the reduced blood supply could mask the symptoms of gum disease (bleeding gums in particular). So, if you are a smoker it really is worth the health benefit for your gums if you quit.
WHY VISITING YOUR DENTIST REGULARLY IS SO IMPORTANT FOR YOUR GUM HEALTH
When you visit the dentist, they will screen you for any gum disease by performing a basic periodontal examination (BPE). The dentist will gently feel around your teeth and gums and assess the pocket depths (looseness of the gums), and if there is any bleeding, plaque and calculus. The dentist will then have a score for your gums that will indicate both the condition of your gums and also the treatment that is needed. X-rays may also be needed to see the amount of bone that has been lost. This assessment is very important, so the correct treatment can be prescribed for you.
WHAT IS THE TREATMENT?
If you have gum disease you may need multiple

Dental Practice
bacteria deep in the pockets. Your gums will then be reassessed to see if there has been improvement. If there is improvement then you will need to have a maintenance treatment plan, but if there is no improvement or worsening you may be offered more specialist treatment or even a referral to see a dentist whom specialises in periodontal disease for further help.
WHAT HAPPENS IF GUM DISEASE IS NOT TREATED?
Unfortunately, if you do not go regularly to the dentist you may not notice the destruction caused by gum disease until you have an abscess or loose tooth or bleeding/sore gums. Over a number of years, disease progression can lead to loss of the bone supporting the teeth, leading to tooth mobility, infections and tooth loss. If the disease is left untreated for a long time, treatment can also be more difficult. It is vital you visit your dentist/hygienist regularly whom will monitor your gum health and advise you of the best treatment needed for you. Periodontal disease treatment is not a quick fix; it needs a lot of motivation and commitment from you the patient. Without good plaque removal at home, gum disease will not improve. Even after gum disease treatment, your gum health will need to be monitored regularly and maintained.
IF I HAVE IMPLANTS, CAN I STILL GET PERIODONTAL DISEASE?
You can still get gum problems around implants that can lead to loss of the bone surrounding and supporting the dental implant. This bone loss can lead to the failure of an implant and it may need to be removed. This condition is called peri-implantitis. It is really important with implants that the surrounding gum health is good with excellent removal of plaque at home every day. It is important to visit your dentist/hygienist to get the appropriate advice on how best to clean your implants and to receive the correct maintenance.
IN CONCLUSION appointments with your dental team. They will remove all plaque and calculus, (hard deposits) from your teeth and show you how to remove plaque successfully yourself, so you can thoroughly and effectively clean all the surfaces of your teeth. A good oral care routine at home with brushing and interdental cleaning is the most important thing you can do to help prevent gum disease getting worse. Once your teeth are clean, your dental team may need to treat the roots of the teeth, under the gums. This would involve cleaning under the gums to flush out any References www.dentalhealth.org/tell-me-about/topic/caring-for-teeth/gum-disease www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Gum-disease/Pages/Introduction.aspx British Society of Periodontology; Basic Periodontal Examination(BPE). Mar 2016
There is no cure for periodontal disease, but it can be controlled as long as you keep up the home care you have been taught by your dental team. The success of gum disease treatment and maintaining stable gum health relies very heavily on good plaque removal and oral hygiene at home to remove the harmful bacteria that drives this disease process. This message is so important; I'm sure you are sick of reading it but I don't think I've repeated myself enough!!!! Yes I do encourage (nag) my patients just as much to brush their teeth twice a day and to use interdental cleaning products every day. (If they do it, they get the benefit of good gum health plus I stop nagging!) Pull-Apart ¹ 35 mins
Cheese Scone Christmas Wreath 15 servings
This pull-apart cheese scone wreath is ideal for festive buffets
36
INGREDIENTS
★ 450g self-raising flour ★1 ⁄ 2 tsp salt ★ 2 tsp finely chopped fresh rosemary ★ 110g chilled Lurpak® Slightly Salted Butter, cut into pieces ★ 300g mature grated Cheddar cheese ★ 1 large egg ★ 200ml milk, plus extra for brushing ★ Rosemary sprigs, to garnish ★ Olives, to serve
METHOD
1. Preheat the oven to 220°C/ fan oven 200°C/ Gas Mark 7. Grease 2 large baking sheets. 2. Sift the flour and salt into a large mixing bowl. Add the chopped rosemary and stir it in. Rub in the chilled Lurpak® Slightly Salted butter with your fingertips until the mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs. Stir in about three-quarters of the cheese.
¹
3 Beat the egg and milk together, then stir it into the mixture with a knife. Bring the dough together with your hand, then turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for a few moments until smooth. 4. Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 3cm, then use a small (3-4cm) cutter to stamp out the scones, rerolling the dough as necessary. Arrange 15-16 scones an overlapping circle on one baking sheet. Put any remaining scones on the second baking sheet. Brush the tops with a little milk and sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top. Bake for 12-15 minutes until risen and golden. 5. Leave to cool for a few minutes. Garnish the wreath with rosemary sprigs and serve while warm, with olives and extra Lurpak® Slightly Salted butter.
☛ Cook’s tip:
When cutting out the scones, avoid twisting the cutter – this will help them to rise better.

Rum Christmas Cake Muffins
These mini Christmas cakes are utterly delicious – moist, fruity and full of flavour – and just the perfect size! INGREDIENTS
★ 150g currants ★ 150g sultanas ★ 150g raisins ★ 100g glace cherries, halved ★ 100ml dark rum ★ 100g Lurpak® Unsalted butter ★ 100g dark muscovado sugar ★ 2 eggs, beaten ★ Grated zest & juice of 1 orange ★ 150g plain flour ★ Pinch salt ★ 1 tsp ground mixed spice ★ 50g caster sugar ★ Pecan halves, blanched almonds & glace cherries, to decorate
METHOD
1. Put the currants, sultanas, raisins and glace cherries into a bowl. Add the rum, stirring well. Cover and leave in a cool place for up to 2 days, though at least overnight. This plumps up the fruit to make the muffins deliciously moist. 2. Preheat the oven to 160°C/ fan oven 140°C/Gas Mark 3. Put 8 paper or foil muffin cases into a muffin tin.
3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the Lurpak® Unsalted butter and sugar until light and fluffy, using a wooden spoon or hand-held electric mixer. Gradually add the eggs, beating well between each addition. Stir in the orange zest and orange juice. (Don’t worry if the mixture curdles). 4. Sift the flour, salt and mixed spice into the bowl, folding them through with a large metal spoon. Add the soaked dried fruits and stir thoroughly. Share the mixture between the muffin cases. Bake for 50 minutes in the centre of the oven. Cool completely. 5. Put the caster sugar into a saucepan with 100ml water. Heat gently to dissolve, then boil for 1- 2 minutes. Brush over the cakes and arrange the nuts and cherries on top. Brush again with the glaze – be careful as the glaze is really hot!
☛ Cook’s tip:
Brandy could be used instead of rum – the choice is yours! 37

GIVE SOMEONE POWER OF ATTORNEY… BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE Lasting Powers of Attorney are invaluable documents as part of the overall planning of your estate as managing your financial affairs can become more difficult as you get older. If a person is unable to manage their affairs due to mental incapacity and they have not made a valid Enduring or Lasting Power of Attorney, their assets will be frozen as no one (including their spouse and children) has the authority to deal with them. At this point someone will need to apply to the Court of Protection to be appointed as the person’s Deputy. The Court will then authorize the Deputy to deal with the person’s affairs in a certain manner. This is a very time consuming (around 6 months) and expensive (in the region of £1,750) process. This situation can be simply avoided through the making of a Lasting Power of Attorney. By making a Lasting Power of Attorney you can decide whom you would like to manage your affairs in the event that you are unable to do so either due to physical or mental incapacity. There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorney that can be made, one dealing with your property and financial affairs and the other dealing with your personal welfare.
Personal Welfare
This power gives your attorney the authority to make decisions regarding your healthcare and medical treatment.
Property and Affairs
This power enables your attorney to deal with your bank accounts and your property. This includes decisions in relation to selling or renting your property, paying your bills, applying for benefits you are entitled to and all aspects of dealing with your bank accounts, savings and investments.
All work we undertake is at fixed fees: Single Property and Affairs Lasting Power of Attorney: £300 inclusive of VAT Double Property and Affairs Lasting Power of Attorney (suitable for couples): £420 inclusive of VAT Single Will: £120 inclusive of VAT Mirror Will: £156 inclusive of VAT It is imperative that specialist advice is taken in order to ensure that the power given accurately reflects your wishes. Call Crichton Wills Trusts & Probate on 01670 514772 and speak to a specialist adviser today who will be happy to discuss any concerns you may have and offers a free no obligation appointment in the comfort of your own home.

HEALTH
Winter Wellbeing
As the temperature drops and the days get shorter, here's some tips to winter-proof your wellbeing
T
he colder seasons can wreak havoc on our wellbeing. In cold weather, some people are at increased risk of stroke, heart attack and pneumonia, flu, falls and hypothermia. It can also affect people with mental health conditions, such as depression.
Protect yourself from flu
For most healthy people, flu is something unpleasant that they generally get over in a week or two. However, older people, the very young and those with an underlying disease are at particular risk of serious illness. To reduce the likelihood of spreading flu, use tissues to trap the germs when you cough or sneeze, wash your hands often with soap and water and bin used tissues as soon as possible. Contact your GP for details of their flu vaccination programme. And if you don’t qualify for a free NHS flu jab, many local pharmacies offer the vaccine privately for between and £10 and £15.
Eat & Drink Well
It may be tempting during the colder months to reach for unhealthy snacks such as biscuits, crisps and chocolate, especially over Christmas when we find ourselves surrounded by tine of sweets. But being overweight or indeed underweight can affect your
52
energy levels and your health, so it’s important to eat a balanced diet. Porridge and soup are great winter warmers.; and remember to have plenty of fruit and vegetables and to avoid eating too much processed food that is high in fat and sugar.
GIve yourself a boost
The lack of sunlight nay leave you feeling tired and sluggish. To counteract this get outdoors in natural daylight as much as you can and make time for regular exercise such as a brisk winter walk. Physical activity will lift your mood, leave you feeling energised, and help to keep you fit and healthy. Wrap up in layers and don’t forget a hat, gloves, thick socks and a scarf.
Keep warm
Heat your home to at least 18°C (you may prefer your living room closer to 21°C) and wear several layers of light clothes rather than one chunky layer. On cold nights, keep your bedroom window closed because breathing in cold air can increase the risk of a chest infection. And use a hot water bottle or electric blanket to keep warm in bed - but don’t use both at the same time.
Talk to your pharmacist
If you feel unwell, even if it’s a cough or a cold, don’t wait until it gets more serious, seek advice from your pharmacist.
A visit to Domani will not only introduce you to some stunning bathroom ideas! We are now expanding to include an exclusive range of Kitchens and Bedrooms tailored to fit your individual needs.

Whitley Bay Jewellery & Antiques Celebrates 10 Years in Business THE HUSBAND AND WIFE TEAM ARE GOING FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH WITH THEIR BUSINESS ON PARK VIEW
H
aving worked in the Jewellery business for over 30 years, Philip Stephenson and his wife Linda decided to follow their dream back in 2009 and open their own business, and ten years later the business is flourishing. Philip, along with his wife Linda, run Whitley Bay Jewellery and Antiques Ltd on Park View in the town, and he is a Registered Valuer with the National Association of Goldsmiths and a Fellow of the Institute of Registered Valuers. Philip has an outstanding background in the industry, working as a manager for Goldsmiths Jewellers and successfully running Northern Goldsmiths stores in Newcastle and Sunderland. He was also involved with Reid and Sons on Blackett Street and Grainger Street . Philip told us “For many years while I was at Reids I handled many fabulous and historic items, some of which belonged to famous and wealthy clients. My training and knowledge of antique and period jewellery and silverware was built up there.’ Now, ten years on, Philip says they are both still enjoy helping their clients to make happy memories and has never looked back since opening the store. Many people have inherited a piece of jewellery from a friend or relative and have no idea what its value might be. When someone dies and leaves you jewellery, there may be sentimental value attached to it. You might be entrusted to safeguard family heirlooms for future generations or expected to divide them up for the estate of the deceased. Perhaps
58
you want to hold onto some as keepsakes. Regardless of what you plan to do with the inherited jewellery you have one of your first priorities should be to determine its value, in part so you can insure it for the proper amount, if necessary. Using all his wealth of experience, Philip is more than happy to guide you through the contents of your jewellery box. Philip spends a lot of his time giving advice and discussing valuations with his clients, many of whom came by personal recommendation from people he and Linda have looked after in the ten years since their business opened. You can take jewellery into the shop on Park View and Philip will be happy to help, whether you are looking for a valuation for insurance, probate, to sell, or simply for your own interest and peace of mind. A written appraisal can be provided for a small fee. The valuation is carried out on the premises and comes with photographic identification. If you require only a verbal opinion Philip is also be happy to help you to the best of his ability. We hope to see the store still going strong for many years to come. With specially designed areas to support co-working for freelancers, entrepreneurs or home-workers looking to utilise the benefits of a shared commercial space, the building has been designed with the growing enterprise community in North Shields in mind. Royal Quays also offer private offices, virtual offices (mail address) and managed office solution for up to 200 people. With the ability to structure any bespoke agreement as a result of our freehold business model. Backed by asset rich £multi million property fund with a substantial investment and development portfolio with an exceptional track record of over 50 years. In line with its ethos to support local business and the start up community the new business centre has also partnered with the Business Factory in North Tyneside and offers dedicated business support to all its members. A professional advisor will work with you at any stage of your new business in addition to holding weekly workshops in a variety of areas. Since opening its new workspace in May the centre has already attracted over 20 companies and is experiencing strong enquiry levels.
