SAMMY IS 20!
TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW FOR SUNDAY FOR SAMMY 20TH ANNIVERSARY SHOWS ON 23RD FEBRUARY 2020 AT NEWCASTLE UTILITA ARENA
SUPER SUNDAY: The shows return to the arena in 2020 with a host of stars
F
ollowing the astonishing success of the 2018 sell-out, Sunday for Sammy returns to the Newcastle Utilita Arena for two spectacular 20th Anniversary shows. The concerts, locally dubbed The Geordie Command Performance, are held every two years in memory of Geordie actor Sammy Johnson who died suddenly in 1999. The 2018 shows, the first to be held at the Arena, were hailed as the best ever by fans who travelled from all over the North East and beyond to be part of the fun. Sunday for Sammy, which was staged at Newcastle City Hall for 16 years, has become one of the ‘must-see’ events in the regional entertainment calendar. Over 10,000 fans flocked to Newcastle Arena for the 2018 show and the organisers are expecting another speedy sell-out in 2020. Tim Healy, Denise Welch, Mark Knopfler, Kevin Whately, Charlie Hardwick, Jimmy Nail, Jill Halfpenny, Jason Cook, Timothy Spall, AC/DC’s Brian Johnson, Christopher Fairbank, Mattie Healy, Stephen Tomkinson, John Miles, Angie Lonsdale,
VERA: Brenda Blethyn brought the house down in the 2018 show
16
Joe McElderry, Brendan Healy, Donna Aire, Ant and Dec, Chelsea Halfpenny, Billy Mitchell, Brendan Foster, Pam Royle, Bob Moncur, Julia Tobin and many, many more have previously given up their time to take part in the show. The cast list is never revealed beforehand and every show is packed with surprises. None bigger than the reception given to actress Brenda Blethyn who brought the house down with her appearance as Vera in the 2018 show. The award-winning actress said: ‘Never in my entire career has an audience welcomed my appearance on stage as wildly and enthusiastically as the audience for Sunday For Sammy welcomed VERA. It was deafening and I’ll cherish the memory of it for ever. The warmth and enthusiasm for the entire show was overwhelming. Thank you. I’m so happy and honoured to have taken part.’ Chairman of the Sunday for Sammy Trust, Tim Healy commented: “It’s hard to believe that it will be twenty years since the first Sunday for Sammy. The show has become a part of our lives and also part of North East Culture. It makes me so proud to know that an idea that Jimmy Nail and I dreamed up to maintain the memory of our pal Sammy has so far raised over £530K to support young performers and creatives in the North East.” Show producer Ray Laidlaw added: “The Newcastle Utilita Arena is now the natural home for Sunday for Sammy. The 2018 show was a huge hit with both the audience and the performers. The success of the 2018 concert DVD, which reached No 3 in the UK charts, has helped to spread the word even further. We’re looking forward to another spectacular event. Every year, the tickets sell faster so I’d urge fans not to leave it till the last minute to guarantee your part in the 20th anniversary shows.” Tickets are on-sale from the Utilita Arena and the Theatre Royal in Newcastle. Visit www.sundayforsammy.org for details.

DRESS YOUR AREA TO IMPRESS FOR THE TOUR OF BRITAIN
T
he Tour of Britain organisers are urging community groups, schools, businesses and land owners to show their support for the race by creating bigger than life works of art in open spaces across the North of Tyne area.
Following the success of the inaugural contest, the Tour of Britain National Land Art Competition will return for the 2019 race, which takes place across North of Tyne as stage three on Monday 9 September. Anyone can also get involved by dressing their streets and shop windows with colourful bunting, flags, floral or cycling displays. The 114-mile stage starts in Berwick, passing through Northumberland and onto the North Tyneside coast, and into Wallsend, before continuing to Newcastle city centre, with a spectacular finish on Grey Street. In 2017 the Tour of Britain swept through Northumberland creating a wave of excitement as some of the world’s top cyclists cycled through our
communities. Residents and businesses colourfully dressed the route with bikes and bunting, and thousands of spectators lined the route to cheer on the riders and give them a fantastic welcome. Organisers hope that scores of local communities across the North of Tyne area will be just as involved this year. The tour passes right through Morpeth, Bedlington and Cramlington, as well as a host of local villages. As well as the chance to be crowned winner of the national competition, those that take part could be featured on TV, with the race itself aired to 166 countries worldwide. Peter Jackson, Leader of Northumberland County Council added: “We want everyone to have a fantastic time when the Tour of Britain arrives on our patch, and make it really memorable. Communities completely got behind the Tour in 2017 and did Northumberland proud by decking the route in the famous red and yellow colours. So let’s make it bigger and better for 2019, and show the world what makes us special.” North of Tyne Mayor Jamie Driscoll said: “We’ve seen from other events like the Tour de France and Yorkshire what a spectacle these races can be when communities get involved, and we want to create that same kind of buzz in our region. The Tour of Britain will be broadcast nationally and internationally – this is great chance for the world to see what a beautiful area we live in.”
Here are some ideas to show your creative side:
• • • •
•
Hang bunting or get together with others along your street Decorate bikes in all sorts of colours and decoration Create bike related floral displays along the route Dressed businesses will become easily recognisable as cycle friendly businesses so dress your windows and frontages Or come up with an ingenious idea to make your business stand out amongst the crowds
ITV4 plan to screen live free-to-air coverage of each stage, along with a nightly highlights programme of the best of the action, which will be available to 166 countries around the world. The eight-stage race runs from 7 to 14 September – full route details can be found at: www.northoftyne-tob.co.uk
If you have a great idea for a piece of artwork that would really showcase pride in your area and support for the Tour of Britain as it comes your area, register your interest before 21 August 2019 at: www.northoftyne-tob.co.uk/copy-of-schools-information 18

NORTH SHIELDS CARE HOME CELEBRATES ‘OUTSTANDING’ SUCCESS IN CQC REPORT
H
C-One’s Redesdale Court care home in North Shields has received it’s second consecutive ‘Outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which is the highest possible rating.
The residential and residential memory care home has joined the top 3% of adult social care services with the CQC’s highest rating following its latest inspection, making it one of the very best in the country. The glowing assessment of Redesdale Court carried out by the CQC, which rated the home as ‘Outstanding’ in both Caring and Well-Led categories, mentioned that the staff at the home are ‘extremely caring’. Both Residents and Residents were able to give numerous examples of how staff went ‘above and beyond’ to meet people’s needs. Feedback from Residents and visitors about Redesdale Court is noted in the report to be ‘consistently positive’, a number of Residents and Relatives stated how lucky they felt to have found the home. Redesdale Court Home Manager, Daniel Ridley said: “We are delighted with the outcome of our recent CQC inspection, which is a testament to the hard work and commitment that each and every member of the team puts in, day in and day out.” Stephen Butterworth, Managing Director at HCOne, said: “I would like to congratulate the whole team at Redesdale Court on their second well-deserved, impressive CQC outcome. “We are dedicated to achieving our aim of being the care provider of choice for those looking for the very best care and support, and employer of choice for the best, most professional, and kindest care staff.” 22
Redesdale Court’s achievements reflect HC-One’s commitment to being the care provider of choice across its family of homes for individuals looking for the kindest care and support. ARE YOU KEEPING YOUR EYES HEALTHY AND EYE LIDS CLEAN? CONCEPT EYE CLINIC ARE PLEASED TO OFFER A REVOLUTIONARY TREATMENT FOR BLEPHARITIS.
Do you suffer from any of the following… • Itching or scratchy eyes • Foreign body sensation • Tearing • Crusting • Redness/inflammation • The build-up of bio-matter around the eyelashes • Dry eyes • Eye rubbing These are all symptoms of Blepharitis or dry eye disease. While we would always recommend an advanced eye examination for peace of mind, at Concept Eye Clinic we now offer a new eye hygiene service by BlephEx. BlephEx will reduce or alleviate these chronic and debilitating symptoms. The treatment is typically repeated at regular intervals, usually every 6 months. By eliminating the inflammatory causes, the overall health of the eyelid is improved. Your eyes can then begin to produce more of their own tears and enjoy a reduction in the chronic and irritating symptoms.
HOW BLEPHEX WORKS
The revolutionary BlephEx equipment consists of a medical grade disposable micro-sponge soaked in a specialist gentle antibacterial 24
lid which is spun precisely and carefully along the edge of your eyelids and lashes, removing scurf and debris and exfoliating your eyelids. A 20 - 30 minute appointment is required on the first treatment but the procedure itself only takes approximately 10 minutes and is well tolerated. Most patients simply report a tickling sensation. After the procedure, you will be advised on how to maintain your lid hygiene between treatments. You can book a consultation at our coastal clinic in Tynemouth by calling: 0191 296 6124

NORTH SHIELDS BUSINESS CHAMBER NEWS
CEO of North Tyneside Council, Paul Hanson, Elected Mayor, Norma Redfearn CBE and Chamber Chair Miles Walton attending a Chamber event
T
CHANGE OF NAME & LOGO FOR THE CHAMBER
he North Shields Chamber of Trade and Commerce has re-launched itself as the North Shields Business Chamber.
The Chamber, which has more than 140 member businesses across the town, is also launching a brand new logo, designed by member Your Print Department. Chair Miles Walton said: The name “North Shields Chamber of Trade and Commerce” made us sound as if we were still in the last century and we think this new name is much more modern and appropriate. “We have a membership that includes large and small businesses of all types from all over the five main business areas of North Shields. We are constantly looking to see how we raise the profile of the whole town and to benefit our members. “We feel that ‘North Shields Business Chamber’ encompasses more of what we are about. We are looking forward to building on more of what we have achieved under our new banner.” The Chamber is the voice of business in North Shields and is responsible for a series of ventures to 32
help boost the local economy. These include the recent Bedford Street Events and the News Guardian’s #BackingBusiness campaign, which celebrates business successes in North Shields. The re-brand was revealed as the Chamber reviewed its recent activities at community arts space The Exchange in the town centre. The event was attended by leading business figures as well as Elected Mayor, Norma Redfearn CBE and Paul Hanson, CEO of North Tyneside Council. The Elected Mayor said: “I have worked very closely with the Chamber since 2013 and I am very grateful for all of the work they do, they have done great things in bringing businesses together. “Quite recently, they started new events in the town centre - I went along to one and it was fabulous. “Things are really starting to happen in North Shields and thanks to the Chamber for being such a big part of that.” For more information on the Chamber head to www.northshieldschamber.co.uk or visit Facebook | @onenorthshields or Twitter @NorthShieldsBC

CALLING ALL BUSKERS
The Bedford Street Events, stalls and music every Wednesday, were initially set for a six week period. But all involved have asked that we continue them for the next few months – so we are pleased to say that they will continue until mid-September (and we hope to start them again in the spring next year). Local musician and singer, Larry Page, has done a great job since the start of the events. Over the summer period, we would like to offer the music slots to acoustic buskers – if you would like to be involved, please contact Miles Walton on miles.walton@yahoo.co.uk.

BRING YOUR POLAROID CAMERA BACK TO LIFE
D
o you have an old Polaroid camera languishing in a cupboard? Now is the perfect time to bring it back to life.
Polaroid Originals is the company that rose from the ashes of the discontinuation of Polaroid instant film in 2008 and is dedicated to analogue instant photography in the original, iconic format. Back then, a number of chemical suppliers that existed solely to provide Polaroid with chemistry for film production went out of business. And over the course of the last decade some of the chemistry used in film production became unavailable for commercial use. Polaroid Originals faced the challenge of reinventing analogue instant photography with the chemistry available, and over the past nine years has been gradually improving the processing and quality of instant film. Launched on September 13th, 2017, the 80th anniversary of the founding of Polaroid, Polaroid Originals makes instant film for Polaroid cameras, and refurbishes vintage cameras so they’re good as new. If you don’t own a vintage Polaroid camera new cameras are available. The OneStep 2 is
a new Polaroid camera that blends classic design with contemporary style. It’s inspired by Polaroid’s original OneStep, but updated to create a simple, easy-to-use instant camera that works straight out of the box – just pick up some i-Type instant film and you’re good to go. It’s got a high quality lens and a powerful flash to give you great photos every time, and this newly improved Viewfinder model makes framing your photos even more intuitive than before. Plus with its long-lasting rechargeable battery, you’ll always be ready to shoot, whether you’re on a brief excursion or a journey round the world. Now is the time to reacquaint yourself with instant analogue photography in an increasingly digital world. Photographic retailer, FotoSnaps are your local stockist for Polaroid Originals products. The Wallsend retailer offers a range of colour and black and white film for your vintage Polaroid camera, and they also have the new Polaroid OneStep 2 instant cameras available if you’re interested in starting a new hobby! GIVE SOMEONE POWER OF ATTORNEY… BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE Lasting Powers of Attorney are invaluable documents as part of the overall planning of your estate as managing your financial affairs can become more difficult as you get older. If a person is unable to manage their affairs due to mental incapacity and they have not made a valid Enduring or Lasting Power of Attorney, their assets will be frozen as no one (including their spouse and children) has the authority to deal with them. At this point someone will need to apply to the Court of Protection to be appointed as the person’s Deputy. The Court will then authorize the Deputy to deal with the person’s affairs in a certain manner. This is a very time consuming (around 6 months) and expensive (in the region of £1,750) process. This situation can be simply avoided through the making of a Lasting Power of Attorney. By making a Lasting Power of Attorney you can decide whom you would like to manage your affairs in the event that you are unable to do so either due to physical or mental incapacity. There are two types of Lasting Power of Attorney that can be made, one dealing with your property and financial affairs and the other dealing with your personal welfare. Personal Welfare
This power gives your attorney the authority to make decisions regarding your healthcare and medical treatment. Property and Affairs
This power enables your attorney to deal with your bank accounts and your property. This includes decisions in relation to selling or renting your property, paying your bills, applying for benefits you are entitled to and all aspects of dealing with your bank accounts, savings and investments. 42

BLUE PLAQUE TRAIL HONOURS THE WW1 DEAD OF NORTH SHIELDS
A
poignant memorial trail has been created for a North Shields community that suffered devastating losses in the First World War.
Over 100 men from the streets between Linskill Terrace, Tynemouth Road and Park Avenue were either killed during the war of 1914-1918 or died later of their injuries. Dozens of homes have received a blue plaque to identify a soldier who once lived there, as part of a scheme by the Northumbria WW1 Commemoration Project. Now the group have created a memorial trail and published a guide, supported by North Tyneside Council, to ensure the men and the sacrifices of war are never forgotten. Project coordinator Alan Fidler says the memorial is a stark reminder of the price paid by North Tyneside communities during the Great War. “In that triangle of streets 108 men were killed. They don’t all have plaques because a lot of the properties are no longer standing but there are a number who do have plaques who we selected because they had a range of different stories about them. The rate of loss in the borough of Tynemouth was quite phenomenal and the plaques show the scale of that. Almost everyone knew somebody who didn’t come home from the war and we could easily create another four or five trails like this one. “We believe the trail will appeal to people who used to live here or amateur historians, or people who feel deeply affected by these men’s stories. We hope local people 48
and visitors will find the guide interesting as they visit all 18 featured and pause at each home to remember the man represented by the plaque, and read their story as told on our website.” More than 300 plaques have been fitted to homes in the borough since the scheme began in 2014. The 1.5 mile trail begins at the Linskill Centre and takes around 60 minutes to complete. The first plaque is at the home of Scottish writer, Caroline Kemp, on Linskill Terrace. She was inspired to write a poem for Hugh M. Hutchison, a 23-yearold soldier who lived in her house before being fatally wounded in France in 1917. She said: “I looked him up on the database, which is fascinating; lots of people are looking at the blue plaque when they come by. It’s a mixture of sadness but it’s also beautiful to have the memory and remember it and I think Hugh and his family would be very pleased this trail was here.” Other projects by the group include a unique commemorative wall listing the casualties in order of the streets where they lived, and a memorial garden for men whose homes are no longer standing, both of which can be seen at the Linskill Centre. Copies of the guide can be picked up at the Linskill Centre; Keel Row Bookshop; North Shields Customer First Centre – Discover North Tyneside; and the Fishing and Maritime heritage centre on the Quay. Further information about the group’s activities can be found at www.northumbriaworldwarone.co.uk

UPGRADE YOUR GARDEN E
njoy your garden all year-round with a bespoke cabin or summerhouse from Plantsplus Garden Centre. From upgrading your potting shed or creating a space to socialise, we’ve asked designer and expert, Cal Gowdy, to answer his most frequently asked questions before you jump in. Planning permission
Our buildings won’t need any planning permission as long you can tick off a few important things: You’re not building on the land of a listed building or within a conservation area; it’s not going in your front garden; it won’t take up more than 50% of your undeveloped garden. Heights can reach 4m, with anything over 2.5m requiring a 2m gap between the structure and the edge of your garden or fence.
Material
Our bespoke cabins and summerhouses at Plantsplus Garden Centre are made from kiln-dried Scandinavian or Baltic redwood which will reduce shrinkage. Bear in mind that there will be contraction and expansion with climatic conditions, so ensure you invest in a good paint or oil to keep it protected for longer. All our cabins have double-glazed windows, with the summerhouses being single glazed as standard. We don’t recommend using felt covering for your roof and instead pair our buildings with bitumen roof shingles or eco slates – 100% recycled and with the option of a few colours.
50
Heating
Your summerhouse or cabin comes with optional floor and roof insulation so you may want to think of having a power source for an electric heater in the cooler seasons. Whilst wall insulation and log burners are feasible, just be aware that they can double your original cost and there are extra regulations to meet. Your height restrictions will also have to take into account any flue that reaches above the roof. A guttering kit is essential for looking after your external wooden walls, so put it to good use by collecting rainwater for your garden with an added water butt. In Summer the average household’s water use in the garden can spike to almost 70% of all water supplied, up from only 3% during the rest of the year. Not only will you be taking some strain off the environment, but you’ll be insuring yourself against hosepipe and sprinkler bans. Fancy learning more? Pop in to Plantsplus Garden Centre to view our show cabins and speak to a friendly member of our team. You’ll also find inspirational garden sheds, cabins, pods and much more on our NEW website www.plantsplus.co.uk also provides you with quality garden accessories that you won’t find in store. PARKS HONOURED WITH GREEN FLAG AWARDS
I
t’s official - North Tyneside has some of the most stunning parks and green spaces anywhere in the UK.
Seven of the borough’s parks - more than any other area in Tyneside - have made it on to this year's list of Green Flag award winners, which is announced today by Keep Britain Tidy. The Rising Sun Country Park, Benton Quarry Park, Marden Quarry Nature Reserve, Killingworth Lakeside Park, Wallsend Parks and Northumberland Park have again been recognised as being among the nation's finest parks and green spaces. The Friends of Holywell Dene have also won a Green Flag Community Award for their efforts to transform, manage and maintain Holywell Dene; a small wooded park which straddles the border with Northumberland. Councillor Carl Johnson, Cabinet Member for the Environment and Transport, said: “We are immensely proud of our award-winning green spaces in North Tyneside and I am delighted that seven of our stunning parks have been recognised once again. Our parks are treasured by residents and visitors and these awards are a testimony to the huge amount of hard work and dedication that our staff and our community volunteers put in to make sure the borough remains a great place to live, work and visit.
52
The international Green Flag award is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has exceptional facilities available to visitors. A record-breaking 1,970 UK parks and green spaces and 131 in thirteen other countries around the world are to receive the prestigious quality mark. International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “It’s fantastic that we have more Green Flag Awards in the UK than ever before, joined this year by 131 International winners. Each flag honours the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award. We congratulate each and every winner on their fantastic achievement.” North Tyneside’s parks will play host to big screen blockbusters this summer. Films will be shown on a 21sq metre screen at seven locations on August 26 and September 1. Full details can be found at www.visitnorthtyneside.com.

LOOKING AFTER LOCAL EYES FOR OVER 40 YEARS J. A. HICKS OPTOMETRIST, A TRADITIONAL YET MODERN PRACTICE AND AN ESTABLISHED PART OF NORTH SHIELDS LIFE
J
.A. Hicks Optometrist began life as Richardson’s Opticians which was located by the train station in North Shields. After a brief time in a prefab near what is now the Co-op, the business became J.A.Hicks and relocated to Nile Street around 1978. They have been there ever since and they like to think of themselves as an established part of North Shields life. Their staff have all been with them for quite a while too. Janet, one of their Optical Assistants, clocked up 40 years with the company in 2017 and they will be celebrating the same length of service for Catherine, their Dispensing Optician, later this year. Nicola, their other Optical Assistant, joined the team a mere 30 years ago and Optometrist, Sylvia, took over from Mrs Hicks in 2009 (having qualified as an Optometrist in 1982). They pride themselves on being a friendly and approachable team. For kids, they offer appointments after school or on Saturday mornings and run dedicated ‘children’s’ days’ in the holidays with snacks and juice to keep everyone amused. They have a fantastic range of children’s

frames to choose from, and because they use a local workshop, glasses can be made up within a few daysand the inevitable repairs sorted out quickly too. They can also arrange a familiarisation visit for children (or adults) with special needs or autism and can allow a longer appointment if required. When it comes to adults, they offer full NHS or private examinations including retinal photography. They have designer brands such as timeless RayBans, less well known styles such as Ronit Furst (think Prue Leith on Bake Off) and an extensive range right through to budget styles. They have something to suit every pocket. With Summer just around the corner, Sunglasses should be on everyone’s minds – Studies have shown that exposure to ultra- violet light may be linked to eye conditions such as cataract and macular degeneration (AMD). It is therefore vital to protect your eyes in the sun. Being outdoors may help prevent short sightedness in children, but don’t forget that their eyes need protecting too. How about contact lenses? There
are lenses to suit more prescriptions than ever before and they are easier to wear than you might think – give it a go- J.A. Hicks offer a free trial, so you’ve nothing to lose (except your specs). Optometrist, Sylvia, works with the Charity ‘Sightservice ‘ in Gateshead, which helps people who have a visual impairment. This means she is ideally qualified to offer advice if you have ‘low vision’- (if your vision can’t be corrected fully with glasses or contact lenses) Simple advice about lighting and contrast, or the use of magnifiers, can make life that little bit easier. Just ask and we will help if we can. So why not pop down and see what the practice can offer you and your family? They pride themselves on being traditional – but not old fashioned- and have many years of combined experience to help and guide you.

DEALING WITH BUMPS IN THE ROAD
Sarah Howe, Director of three Curves fitness facility’s in the North East and a mother of two, advises how to stop beating yourself up, if you slip up on your health and fitness journey.
Y
ou’re at a friend’s house and, without thinking, you grab a dessert and eat it. Next you’re mindlessly eating crisps. In the minutes that follow, panic and guilt sets in – you’ve been working hard to follow a healthy eating plan, but now you’re fearful you’ll fall back into old habits. Does this situation sound familiar to you? At some point on your journey, you may experience a bump in the road, or slip-up. No one is perfect, so these bumps are perfectly normal. Learning to deal with the bump in a positive way is essential for long term success. Don’t beat yourself up when you slip, instead, consider it a learning experience. Here are some tools to help you navigate bumps in the road in a more positive way. Following these steps will help you learn from the past and handle bumps more effectively in the future. 1. Recognize the Bump - The bump in the road usually starts with a thought, place, feeling or action – the scale, stress at work or home, negative thoughts, office party, social gathering, holiday or vacation. Identifying some of your weaknesses is a strength because you can develop strategies to overcome these bumps in the road. 2. Pause & Examine - Take some time to talk or journal about how you are feeling, any negative thoughts you have or what’s going on in your life right now. You may need to phone a friend or connect with other women at Curves in club or online through the message boards. The Curves Community is full of women just like you. You’re not alone! When you share what you are experiencing, it strengthens your resolve. 3. Accept - Acceptance is more than just accepting that you had a moment of weakness. It’s about accepting that you’re not perfect. We don’t expect others to be perfect, so why do we expect something more from ourselves? It takes time to change behaviours. So, while 60
you may not get it right the first time, you’ll be stronger and more prepared to face a similar situation or experience in the future. Be patient, you are making great strides in improving your health. 4. Experience your feelings - Throughout this journey, it’s important you learn to experience your feelings in a healthy, positive way. Ignoring your feelings will only lead to internal turmoil and discontent. In fact, you may turn to food as a way of dealing with your emotions. Take some time to explore and understand your feelings. And realize that your feelings will pass – it may take a couple hours or a couple days, but your feelings will pass. 5. Forgiveness - Now it’s time to forgive yourself. It’s important that you place any feelings of shame or guilt in a journal or in the heart of a loving friend. Decide that you won’t let any bump in the road discourage your progress. This journey is about learning more about yourself. Consider this experience as an opportunity to shape you into a healthier, happier version of you. Once you’ve forgiven yourself, you can move on in your journey. When it comes to dealing with bumps in the road, you’ll often be faced with two decisions: one, you can choose to let your slip affect your progress, or two, you can learn more about yourself and move on in your journey. In the words of Robert Frost, “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood….I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference.” There are going to be bumps in the road throughout your journey, but tomorrow is a new day, a new opportunity – a road less travelled by. In the past, you may have felt defeated by bumps in the road and often took the well-beaten path. Why not try a road less travelled and join your local Curves Club, we can help you through your health and fitness journey. Your perseverance through change will help you become stronger both mentally and physically. For more information on Curves Fitness visit www.curves.eu/uk
