Resistant Nucleas Design Studio VIII Educational, Urban Design Yulin, Shaanxi once was a major trade point between China & Mongolia. The old city of Yulin is a small settlement almost disappearing between the rapid modern urban developments of chaotic highrise compounds & low quality vast open spaces. A new campus is part of the expansion projects to be realized. The design proposal aims to challenge the commercial norms and to resist the poor experiences that modern projects have brought. The vision includes valuable features from the old city of proximity, compactness & chinese typologies to revive the lost qualities. Dealing with existing topography creates identity & helps establish the campus as the resistant nucleas within the expansion. Team Members: Abdelrahman Ghoneim , Mahmoud Samir, Nada Anwar 6

Vertical Dialogues Bachelor Project Urban Planning, Urban Design Barcelona is a prominent city when it comes to urban public life. Thanks to the ambitious projects carried out after the 1992 olympics. However, the sense of public life is lost when the city touches the three hills in the middle of the city. Unlike montjuic and the sea which were major areas of the urban transformation, the hills remain almost unrealized with complex urban organizations. The design proposal explores verticality: its characteristics and power recognition to create a dialouge of vertical elements that would connect Barcelona and the hills. 02 A Resilient Grid Design Studio VII Urban Planning , Urban Design Zafaranaa is one of the new cities planned to exist by the Egyptian government. The site encapsulates a variety of natural assets being located on the red sea and gains recognition by being the outstanding areas having wind flows and dry river beds (Wadis). The design aims to layout a masterplan for a regenerative city that would change the seasonal cities concept recently developed in Egypt’s shorelines. An orthogonal grid is oriented in respect with the city’s natural elements. The wadis intersects with the grid rhythmically creating new schemes for urban districts & neighborhoods that is developed as exemplary every day living situation.

Re-Exploring The River Design Studio V Urban Planning, Urban Design Cairo is one of the most dense cities in the world. With a population of around 20 million people, it offers only little urban space for public activities. The design aims for developing a strategical approach that would help generate public life in Cairo and relate the public spaces with nature. Hence, our design uses the water as a feature to re-explore the public urban life through reviving historical canals and the creation of new ones based on routes that host already existing landmarks. By designing additional anchors that integrates with the water, value public spaces would be generated. Team Members: Abdelrahman Ghoneim , Mai El Shenawy, Ranya Ayman, Reem Ahmed 30

Azbakeya Market Hall Design Studio III Commercial AL-AZBAKEYA is an old historical district located in Downtown Cairo where most of the city activities take place. A vacant land remains lifeless next to the existing book store in al opera square. The project’s scope was to use the land to design a market hall that serves the area with its surroundings neighborhoods. The site, being previously a park, is revived through the design by creating a market hall with a green roof that blends with the ground. The result is a hybrid building inspired by the organic forms of greenery reflected in its form and facade. Team Members: Abdelrahman Ghoneim , Ranya Ayman, Robert Ashraf,Youssef Rafik 38

Start-Up Community Design Studio IV Housing The population boom in Egypt creates an issue in providing socialhousing. As a result, a single model of social housing that is spreadceverywhere without no consideration of the different needs of the people. The design aims to create new housing typologies for low income people. The design proposes different types of houses for a work- live neighborhood and shows incremental possibilities for future development, all originating from a single unit typology.

CAD CAM // Rhinoceros Digital Design The aim of the project was to improve our digital design skills by using Rhino as a modelling tool. A Scifi-look painting was being visualised and generated as a 3D model. All abstract and blurry details of the image were created by researching similar references. After the modelling phase, textures and renderings were done via V-Ray. Photoshop was used for adding some post production which gives atmosphere to the image. The 3D model was then used to create new scenarios based on our own imagination and explore different themes. Team Members: Abdelrahman Ghoneim , Roubair Ashraf,Youssef Rafik
