Today at my house is my grand brother’s wedding party. All my family members are invited to our house, everyone is excited, they are moving in all the directions so that everything is ready for this very special day. In the midst of this effervescence, with a tray on my hands, I have stopped and while I was gazing in this position on the back of the house, the small wooden door opened giving a sight to the garden space. An idea occurred to my mind. The small garden where our animals are does not belong to the party space. It is the space where we put our animals. I turn my head to the other side to look at the first guests sitting in the big garden. They looked so happy to me. Everyone was talking and laughing out loud while behind the house lays the saddest place in the world. These poor animals are locked in this small enclosure. They will never have the chance to celebrate this big day with us. Back to where am I standing in the middle of the passage with my tray on my hands, I asked my father: -Baba, who builds spaces? -The architects he answered, they draw the spaces for people so they can live in them. Aujourd’hui chez moi c’est la fête de mariage de mon grand frère. Toute ma famille est invitée ici dans notre maison, les grandes personnes s’agitent, ils courent dans tous les sens afin que tout soit prêt pour ce jour très spécial. Au milieu de cette effervescence, un plateau dans les mains je m’arrête et mon regard se pose sur l’arrière de la maison. Je vois, à travers la porte en bois laisée entre-ouverte le petit jardin. Le petit jardin n’est pas destiné à la fête, c’est l’espace où se trouve nos animaux. Je tourne la tête de l’autre côté pour regarder les premiers invités installés dans le grand jardin. Ils ont l’air si heureux, tout le monde parle, ri aux éclats alors que là juste derrière la maison, se trouve l’endroit le plus triste au monde. Ces pauvres animaux enfermés dans ce petit enclos, ils n’auront pas la chance de fêter ce grand jour avec nous. C’est alors là au milieu du passage avec mon plateau dans les mains que j’interpelle mon père est lui demande : -Baba, qui construit les espaces? -Se sont les architectes, ils dessinent les espaces pour que les gens vivent dedans -Alors je serais architecte pour qu’il n’y ait plus jamais d’espaces tristes ... BeMA (Beirut Museum of Art ) is located in the heart of Beirut, at one of the most important crossroads in the city(AL-Muthaf) . This museum is located in a mixed use neighbourhood, between collective housing, cultural facilities and administrative establishments. It is one of the pivotal areas of the city. The diversity of functions reflects the urban complexity where you can feel it in its busy road, inaccessible parks and little space left for pedestrians. Currently the plot is entirely occupied by cars, part of which belongs to the extension of the Saint-Joseph University. This project takes place in a heterogeneous context both spatially and functionally. BeMa (Musée d’art de Beyrouth) ce situ au coeur de Beyrouth, à l’un des carrefour les plus importants de la ville. Ce musée s’implante dans un quartier mixte, entre logements collectifs, équipements culturels et établissements administratifs c’est l’un des quartier charnière de la ville. La diversité des fonctions est à l’image de la complexité urbaine qui l’entoure, une voie très passante, un parc inaccessible et peu de place laissée aux piétons. Actuellement la parcelle est occupée entièrement par les voitures, une partie est dédié à l’extension de l’université Saint-Joseph. Ce projet s’implante dans un contexte hétérogène tant sur le plan spatial que fonctionnel.

ADMINS PERMANENT EXHUBITION The initial program consisted of several permanent and temporary exhibition halls and workspace for different groups. After analysing the site and putting into perspective the challenges that are existed in this project, I have chosen to add two spaces that seemed essential to me. The first problem is the lack of public space in Beirut the solution has been taken to leave an important place for an outdoor exhibition. The second decision was to arrange the whole project around an “open public” exhibition this helped to create an open circulation where the artists can use it to express themselves and exhibit their works in different positions and angels. Le programme initial se constituait de plusieurs salles d’expositions permanentes et temporaires , d’espace de travail pour différents groupes. Après avoir analysé le site et mise en persepective les enjeux que représentait ce projet, j’ai choisi de rajouter deux espaces qui me semblaient incontournables. Dans un premier temps, la problématique du manque d’espace public qui est une réelle question à Beyrouth, j’ai donc choisi de laisser une place importante dédiée une exposition extérieure. Dans un second temps, tout le projet s’est construit autour d’une exposition “libre”, l’ensemble des circulations de ce projet laissent la place à des artistes de tous horizons pour qu’ils s’expriment et exposent leurs oeuvres.

Another important point in the location is that it is located on the “green line”. It is the name of the road which establishes the border between East Christian Beirut, and West Muslim Beirut during the civil war and it has carried a completely different symbol for the last decade, and gradually it becomes the cultural line that will unite the city where several important projects take place to strengthen this idea of reconciliation. Un autre point important de l’emplacement est qu’il est s’implante sur “la ligne verte”, route qui établissait la frontière entre Beyrouth Est, chrétien et Beyrouth Ouest, musulman durant la guerre civile. Depuis plusieurs années déjà, elle porte un tout autre symbole , et devient petit à petit “la ligne culturelle” qui va souder la ville afin qu’elle ne fasse plus qu’une. Plusieurs projets sont déjà installés et contribuent à cette ligne de la réconciliation.

The specificity of this project can be summed up in terms of location and function. It is requested to imagine on this site an International Center of Architecture, City and Landscapes of Rotterdam. The plot has a strong industrial character due to its port activity as well as a residential typology. The plot is partly occupied by the museum boat SS Rotterdam, but the public space in front of the museum is used for purely logistical purposes, so it is not qualitative for the city. La spécificité de ce projet se résume en termes de localisation et de fonction. Il est demandé d’imaginer sur ce site le Centre international de l’architecture, de la ville et des paysages de Rotterdam. La parcelle est emprise d’un fort caractère industriel de part son activité portuaire ainsi que d’une typologie résidentielle. La parcelle est en partie occupée par le bateau du musée SS Rotterdam, mais l’espace publique devant le musée est utilisé à des fins purement logistique, il n’est donc pas qualitatif pour la ville.

The relationship between Rotterdam and water is in the Rotterdam heritage and the people of the city are used to live with the see shore and it is integrated in their lives culturally. This project reflects this interesting relationship. This decision was introducing a new experimental idea to create a public place floating on water and in creating floating corridors that look alike the simplicity of the design and suggests a feeling of walking on water. As mentioned earlier, Rotterdam is a city that is integrated in the sea shore and the idea that it adapts a floating project can help to preserve the future of the city because it shows its ability to expand with in the challenges of the climate change and the high level of water in the future. La relation entre Rotterdam et l’eau est une relation historique et les habitants de la ville sont habitués à vivre avec la mer et à s’y sont adaptés. Ce projet reflète cette relation historique. Ce choix introduit une nouvelle idée expérimentale dans la création d’un lieu public flottant au-dessus de l’eau et dans la création de couloirs flottants reflétant la simplicité du design et suggérant une sensation de marcher au-dessus de l’eau. Comme indiqué précédemment, Rotterdam est une ville adaptée à l’eau, le fait qu’il s’agisse d’un projet flottant lui donne la capacité de s’adapter au changement climatique et au niveau élevé des eaux à l’avenir.

43 The project meant to emphasize the relationship between the public and private spaces. The axis between the underwater tunnel and the city centre hosts the public functions of the project (exhibition hall - large theater - gymnasiums) While the most private functions such as classes and workshops are on the other side to be accessed from the main entrance, then the staircase zone is located in order to serve all the blocks. Through this system, public and private places operate in an integrated, separate and connected way at the same time. Ce projet s’inscrit dans une relation entre les espaces publics et privés. L’axe situé entre le tunnel et le centre-ville contient les fonctions publiques du projet (salle d’exposition - grand théâtre - gymnases) Alors que les fonctions les plus privées telles que classes et ateliers sont de l’autre côté accessibles depuis la passerelle, puis cette dernière se redivisent afin de desservir tous les blocs. Par ce système, les lieux publics et privés fonctionnent de manière intégrés, séparés et connectés en même temps.

The choice of materials was inspired by the traditional architecture of Rotterdam and the rich industrial history of the site. Bricks and steel perforated represent the identity of the city. The perforations on the metal surface provide natural light and give rise to a variety of patterns in terms of lighting. Rays of sun seek a path through the perforated facade giving birth to an interesting range of shapes inside. Le choix des matériaux s’est inspiré de l’architecture traditionnelle de Rotterdam et de la riche histoire industrielle du site. Les briques et l’acier perforé représentent l’identité de la ville. Les perforations de la surface métallique fournissent de la lumière naturelle et donnent lieu à une variété de motifs en terme d’éclairage. Des rayons de soleil cherchent un chemin à travers la façade perforée donnant naissance à un éventail intéressant de formes à l’intérieur.

This project is located in the town of Saint-chamond in France, it is a rehabilitation of a social housing building that was built in 1964. The main thrust of this project is to make this building more sociable and more ecological. These ideas were translated by a permeability of the ground floor, to improve the connection between the old city and the new city each on both sides of this housing bar. The decision was taken to move towards more convivial spaces by transforming the top floor into a public space. Ce projet se situ sur la commune de Saint-chamond, c’est une réabilitation d’un bâtiment de logement sociaux construit en 1964. L’axe fort de ce projet étati re rendre ce bâtiment plus social et plus écologique. C’est idées se sont traduit pare une perméhabilité du Rezde-chaussée, pour améliorer la connection entre l’ancienne ville et la ville nouvelle chacune de part et d’autre de cette barre de logement. A l’intérieur, notre volonté s’est portée sur des espace plus conviviaux en transformant le dernier étage en espace partagéé.

This project is located in Lido Island in venice. Between land and sea, this building reflects both its environment and its surroundings. On the sea side, the facades follow the sand of the beach as if it is the continuity of it. On the city side, the facades are vertical and very urban. This dichotomy of language makes it possible to create singular specialities outside and inside according to the needs of the space. Ce projet est situé sur l’ile du lido à venise. Compris entre terre et mer ce bâtiment reflet de par et d’autre son environnement direct. Côté mer, les façades inclinées viennent épouser le sable de la plage comme une continuité de cet élément. Côté ville, les façades sont verticales et très urbaines. Cette dicotomie de langage permet de créer à l’extérieur comme à l’intérieur des spatialités singulières en fonction des besoins de chacun des espaces.

This project is located to the northern district of the ancient city of Damascus. The program consists of shops, restaurants, sport activities and it is quite generous in showing public spaces. This project seeks to link the ancient city of Damascus to the more residential part of the city. Ce projet se situ dans le quartier nord de l’ancienne ville de Damas. Le programme est constitué de magasins, de restaurents et d’espaces publiques généreux. Ce complexe cherche à faire le lien entre l’ancienne ville de Damas et la partie plus résidentielle de la ville.

The project is inspired by the flower of Jasmine that is the symbol of the old city of Damascus. Therefore, the design of the project is a try to mix between the identity and the modernity in the ecological and social aspect of the project. Le projet est inspiré de la fleure de Jasmin, symbol, atemporelle de la ville de Damas. Le design du projet est donc un mélange entre une identité et un symbol ansestral et la modernité dans l’aspect écologique et social du projet.

This project is located in the northern district of the ancient city of Damascus. its island side gives it a special place in the city. The plot is both the link and the limit. The program is divided into two parts, on the one hand a public library, on the other a children’s library, this division in the program was an imposed constraint. Ce projet se situ dans le quartier nord de l’ancienne ville de Damas. son côté insulaire lui procur une place particulière dans la ville. La parcelle est à la fois le lien et la limite.Le programme est diviser en deux partie, d’un côté une bibliothèque public, de l’autre une bibliothèque pour enfants, cette division dans le programme était une contrainte imposé.

The idea was to work horizontally, to express the transition between old Damascus and the more modern city. The two libraries are independent, both in their volume and in their functioning, and in the same time they are connected by the main entrance. They are both divided into two levels which communicate by a set of paths and ramps which enliven the interior space. The glazed facades are treated in away that transmit the light from the outside to the inner volume which helps to preserve energy for light and temperature wise. L’idée était de travailler l’horizontalité, pour exprimer la trasition entre le vieux Damas et la ville plus moderne. Les deux bibliothèques sont indépendantes, tant dans leur volumétrie quen et dans leur fonctionnement. Les deux bibliothèque ne sont pas totalement indépendentes, ils sont reliés à une seule entrée principale. La bibliothèque est divisée en deux niveaux qui communiques par un jeux de passerrelles et de rampes qui viennent annimer l’espace interieur. Les façades vitrée sont traité de manière à tamiser la limière venant de l’extérieur se qui cré, en plus d’un confort thermique, un confort d’usage.

The Green Tower is located in the Mazeh district which is a new administrative and residential district in Damascus. It offers vertical work on eleven floors. This project is proposed by the Syrian government as well as the resulting program. To restore the district’s attractiveness, the first three levels will be entirely dedicated to large shopping malls. The other floors will be rented as platforms to attract important national and international companies. The whole project was designed with the latest technologies in terms of self-management to make this building as a passive building. La Green Tower est située dans le district de Mazeh qui est un nouveau quartier administratif et résidentiel à Damas. Il propose un travail de verticalité sur onze étages. Ce projet est proposé par le gouvernament Syrien ainsi que le programme qui en découle. Pour redonner une attractivité au quartier, les trois premier niveau seront entièrement dédié à des grandes galeries marchandes. Les autres étages seront loué comme des plateaux pour attirer d’importes entreprises nationales voire internationales. L’ensemble du projet a été conçu avec les dernières technologies en terme d’auto-gestion pour faire de ce bâtiment un édifice passif.

142 The total surface area of the tower is approximately wrapped in an organic local vegetation green roof that plays a key role in the site’s rain water management system, and passive architecture will allow for natural ventilation. Publicly accessible ramps will connect the first five floors to the street level lined in shops, restaurants and plant life. The glass façade provides a high-performance building envelope that reduces solar gain and heat load while allowing the benefits of the city views and daylight into creative spaces. Environ la totalité de la surface de la tour est recouverte d’un toit vert végétal organique qui joue un rôle clé dans le système de gestion des eaux pluviales du site, et une architecture passive permettra une ventilation naturelle. Des rampes accessibles au public relieront les cinq premiers étages au niveau de la rue bordé de magasins, de restaurants et de plantes. La façade en verre offre une enveloppe de bâtiment haute performance qui réduit le gain solaire et la charge thermique tout en permettant aux avantages de la vue sur la ville et de la lumière du jour dans les espaces créatifs.

This service station is located on the main highway between Damascus and Latakia. The program includes 6 service stations, Super market, restaurant, public services and car wash. The concept is a dramatic exploration of the sculptural form to create eye-catching images amidst industrial road architecture, unlike usual station designs, the dominant visual form is the building itself, not the spontaneously made signage and graphics. Cette station-service est située sur l’autoroute principale entre Damas et Lattaquié. Le programme comprend 6 stations-service, Super marché, restaurant, services publics et lave-auto. Le concept est une exploration dramatique de la forme sculpturale pour créer des images accrocheuses au milieu de l’architecture industrielle routière, contrairement aux conceptions de gare habituelles, la forme visuelle dominante est le bâtiment luimême, pas la signalisation et les graphiques.

Dubai is a city that is perceived one of the fastest growing cities in the world. Moreover, increasing globalization and the settlement of different foreigner groups have transformed the city into a mixture of different nationalities and have offered an ascent to a cosmopolitan that is synced internationally. The weather in Dubai is considered warm and sunny during the day, while at night the temperature is relatively cool, which gives the locals the opportunity to gather in the pubic area and do public activities. The port of Dubai Creek is one of the most important places that has undergone significant urban transformation. The object of the project is to design “A mosque for all”, it will not only serve the Muslim community of the city and the surrounding communities will serve mainly as a benchmark for religious tolerance. Dubaï est une ville qui est perçue comme l’une des villes à la croissance la plus rapide au monde. De plus, la mondialisation croissante et l’installation de différents groupes étrangers ont transformé la ville en un mélange de diverses nationalités et ont offert une ascension vers une culture cosmopolite en phase avec d’autres villes mondiales. Le temps à Dubaï est considéré comme chaud et ensoleillé pendant la journée, tandis que la nuit, la température est relativement frais, ce qui donne aux habitants la possibilité de se rassembler dans l’espace pubien et de faire des activités publiques. Le port de Dubai Creek est l’un des endroits les plus importans ayant subit une transformation urbaine importante. L’objecti du concours est de concevoir «Une mosquée pour tous», elle servira non seulement à la communauté musulmane de la ville et des communes alentour servira surtout de repère pour la tolérance religieuse.

The mosque is located on the axis of the Creek tower (Iconic tower of Dubai That Will be built) and the Creek harbour port. The main prayer hall is oriented towards Mecca. The project is not cantered in the plot in order to leave an important public plaza. La mosquée est axée d’une part avec la tour Creek (tour emblématique de Dubaï qui sera construite) et d’autre part avec le port harbour. La salle de prière principale est orientée vers la Meque. Le projet est ex-centré par rapport à la parcelle afin de laisser une place libre importante.
The emplacement of the mosque and its orientation brings all visitors to go through the project. L’implacement de la mosquée ainsi que son orientation amene tous les visiteurs à traverser le projet.

The large transparent main hall façade that is along the main public axis, the successive arcades give the passengers the impression by being the main praying hall of the mosque. La façade qui longe l’axe publique principal est vitrée, les arcades qui se succèdent laisse au passant l’impression d’avoir pénétré dans la salle de prière de la mosquée.
The dome remains unconditionally the symbol of the mosque, so I tried to open it to the public so that it represents a new definition of the experience of the mosque by making it a “MOSQUE FOR ALL”. Le dôme reste inconditionnellement le symbole de la mosquée, j’ai donc chercher à l’ouvrir au publique pour qu’il représente une nouvelle définition de l’expérience de la mosquée en en faisant une «MOSQUÉE POUR TOUS».

The first floor of the main hall and the roof are connected by ramps inside the entrance dome. This makes the entry and exit of the faithful easier and safer. Le premier étage du hall principal et le toit sont reliés par des rampes à l’intérieur du dôme d’entrée. Cela rend l’entrée et la sortie des fidèles plus faciles et plus sûres.
The rain of light is a traditional technique to filter the light and the heat of the induced by the sun, this ancestral technique is revisited in this project to play between tradition and modernity. La pluie de lumière est une technique traditionnelle pour filtrer la lumière et la chaleur du induit par le soleil, cette technique ancestral est revisitée dans ce projet pour jouer entre tradition et modernité.

As one of the oldest cities in the world, Aleppo has witnessed various events marking its history, notably its essential place in the Silk Road where its influence has spread to countries beyond its geographical borders. historically; one of the most sought after places in terms of quality of life and commerce, no matter how many times it has been destroyed, it has been rebuilt again. Étant l’une des plus anciennes villes du monde, Alep a été témoin de diverses évènements marquant son histroire notamment sa place essentielle dans la route de la soie où son influence s’est étendue dans des pays au-delà de ses frontières géographiques. Historiquement; l’un des endroits les plus recherchés en termes de qualité de vie et de commerce, peu importe combien de fois il a été détruit, il a été reconstruit encore.

To accept the catastrophe that has happened today and rebuilds here on. A memory is a precursor to the hope. Visualize memory as a gateway to bring people together and connect to the past. Memory is a multidimensional concept and it is not limited to mourning - nor should it be. The message that this project wants to deliver is to produce a physical and social experience so that visitors awaken their awareness of the importance of restoring Aleppo not only by restoring ancient sites but also by gathering in a beautiful public space dotted with urban monuments. Accepter la catastrophe qui s’est produite aujourd’hui et reconstruit ici. Une mémoire est un précurseur de l’espoir. Visualiser la mémoire comme une passerelle pour rassembler les gens et se connecter au passé. La mémoire est un concept multidimensionnel et ne se limite pas au seul deuil - il ne devrait pas non plus l’être. Le message que ce projet veut délivrer est de produire une expérience physique et sociale pour que les visiteurs éveillent leur conscience sur l’importance de rétablir Alep non seulement en restaurant des sites antiques mais aussi en se rassemblant dans un bel espace public parsemé de monuments urbains symboliques.

The Cross-Border Park contains sports activities, a wild zoo, and open-air exhibitions. The Damascus interactive centre is a project that seeks to reconnect the Al-Thowra district in the heart of Damascus following the construction of an urban highway in the 1960s. The main objective of this project was to offer residents a public space which the city is sorely lacking. Five different programs have formed this urban project, we find: public space, the rehabilitation of the Yalbougha building, the rehabilitation of the Souk Al Hall, the restoration of the historic facade of Aybeh and finally the restoration of the Hammam Al Karamany. Le centre interactif de Damas est un projet qui cherche à reconnecter le quartier Al-Thowra au coeur de Damas suite à la construction d’une autoroute urbaine dans les années 1960. L’objectif principal de ce projet a été d’offrir aux habitants un espace publique dont manque cruellement la ville. Cinq programme différents ont formés ce projet urbain, on trouve l’espace publique, la réhabilitation de l’immeuble Yalbougha, la réhabilitatino du Souk Al Hall, la restauration de la façade historique de Aybeh et pour finir la restauration du Hammam Al karamany.

252 This project is a response to the proposal of a government project. The authorities wanted to build a large road in the heart of the neighborhood, the destruction of many monuments and habitats would have been inevitable. on the contrary, this project aimed to have the least possible impact on the neighborhood. The project was therefore built around underground tunnels to leave the ground floor free. Ce projet s’inscrit comme une réponse à la proposition d’un projet gouvernemental. Les autorités voulaient construire une route d’une largeure importante au coeur du quartier, la destruction de nombreux monument et habitats auraient été inévitable. au contraire ce projet avait pour objectif d’être le moins impactant possible sur le quartier. Le projet s’est donc construit autour de tunnels souterains afin de laisser libre le rez-de-chaussée.

The displacement of the road allows to leave a free important plaza in the heart of the city. This space will be occupied by different open modules in order to make it attractive to all users of the surrounding buildings. The Yalbougha building was built in the 1960s, so far no project has been completed. The project plans to rehabilitate it as a museum and nature research centre. This programming responds to its location on an important axis crosses the city connecting two major agricultural space for the city, on this axis is already the Umayyad mosque, a cultural centre for children and a park which gives this axis a strong symbol. L’immeuble Yalbougha a été construit dans les années 1960, jusqu’à aujourd’hui aucun projet n’a abouti. Le projet prévoie de le réhabiliter en musée et centre de recherche de la nature. Cette programmation reponds à sa localisation sur un axe important traverse la ville reliant deux espace agricole majeur pour la ville, sur cette axe se trouve déjà la mosquée umayyad, un centre culturel pour enfant et un parc ce qui confert à cette axe un symbole fort.

This building is located in a still very traditional urban-space, it is between souks and the ancient city. The project consists in preserving the activities present on the site by rehabilitating the building in order to make it a centre of traditional crafts. Ce bâtiment ce situ dans un espace urbain encore très traditionnel, il est entre des souk et l’ancienne ville. Now this facade is currently suffering from the lack of maintenance and the project idea is to restore the facility so it can be reused. This hammam belongs to the architectural heritage of the Mamlouk period (1300 - 1400 BC). It was the most popular hammam until the 1950s thanks to its strategic position in the city center. Today it is abandoned but remains in a very good structural condition. On the other hand, outside, the loss of protective limestone affects its facades. The project seeks to restore the hammam’s appearance as well as its attractiveness of past. Ce hammam est un heritage de la période mamlouk (1300 - 1400 avJC. Il étati le hammam le plus populaire jusque dans les années 1950 grace à sa position stratégique en centre ville. Aujourd’hui il est abandonné mais reste dans un très bon état struscturel. Par contre à l’extérieur, la perte du calcaire de protection affecte ses façades. Le projet cherche à redonner au hammam son aspect ainsi que son attractivité d’antan.
