We select the perfect ship for every voyage.
In the world of Luxury Expedition Cruises, one size does not fit all. We continuously scour the world’s finest expedition fleets to select the perfect vessels for every voyage, ensuring we have just the right blend of size and comfort.
Luxury Expedition Cruisers in Polar Regions
The largest vessels in our lineup, luxury expedition cruisers are big enough to handle any seas but small enough to access restricted polar areas. We exclusively charter and then specially configure these ships to limit capacity to 199 guests (from a maximum of 244), affording a personnel-to-guest ratio of 1 to 1.2 and a private balcony with every stateroom and suite.
Small Explorer Ships for Cultural and Warm-Water Voyages
When it comes to expedition vessels, small means versatile. These small explorer yachts are perfectly sized to access the exotic ports and harbours closed to bigger ships. When exclusively chartered and configured for our expeditions, these vessels feature a capacity limited to 148 guests (from a maximum of 184), a private balcony with every stateroom and suite and an intimate 1 to 1.2 personnel-to-guest ratio.
Ecoventura Adventure Yachts in the Galápagos
Our exclusive Ecoventura adventure yacht, Theory, explores the Galápagos Islands with a standard of luxury unrivalled in the region. Stretching 43 metres in length, this stylish, sophisticated vessel affords plenty of space to accommodate up to 20 guests and a crew of 13 amid the wild wonders of the equatorial Pacific.
We elevate life on board to exacting standards.
Whichever expedition you choose, our elegant cuisine, fine wines and attentive service enhance every moment on board.
Savour Sumptuous Cuisine and Unlimited Beverages
Luxury cruising with A&K includes every meal and unlimited house drinks aboard your ship, even Champagne. With gourmet culinary fare at your fingertips, savour a menu that includes:
▶ A wide range of fresh salads, buffet and á la carte options, and exquisitely plated dishes
▶ A lavishly coursed Captain’s Dinner

“My Antarctica expedition with A&K exceeded all expectations. The ship was beautiful, the food fabulous and the service excellent. Reaching my seventh continent was an absolute pleasure.”
— Patricia, December 2022
Our expeditions are designed for a sustainable future.
From the very beginning, we pioneered an approach to travel that helped preserve the communities and unspoiled locales we visited. Today, it remains our mission to actively protect and care for every environment we touch.
We Sail on Sustainable Small Ships Utilising Innovative Technology
Each luxury expedition cruiser and small explorer ship we charter features energy-efficient engines, reduced fuel consumption using only environmentally compliant fuel types, and computerised dynamic positioning systems that minimise the need to anchor in fragile marine reserves. All carbon emissions from our cruises are 100 percent offset, and an Environmental Officer oversees each voyage to make sure all environmental protocols are observed to the letter.
We Practice Conservation and Minimise Waste
On voyages aboard luxury expedition cruisers and small explorer ships, we provide a complimentary reusable water bottle for every guest and significantly reduce other single-use plastics such as straws, laundry bags, cups and food containers. More than half of all packaging is recycled on board while the rest is fully tracked, ensuring nothing ends up in the water or on land.
Our Chartered Ships Are Certified Sustainable
All of our chartered luxury expedition cruisers and small explorer ships have been awarded the CLEANSHIP or CLEANSHIP SUPER label by Bureau Veritas, certifying their ecologically responsible operations and allowing you to explore with peace of mind.
Our Environmental Commitment to the Galápagos
We are committed to conserving the Galápagos Islands’ precious natural resources at sea with a host of environmentally friendly operating procedures and onboard upgrades, such as advanced wastewater treatment systems. On land, we’ve partnered with a regional airline to open an onsite recycling facility on San Cristóbal, saving an estimated 10 tons of waste from being landfilled on the islands per year.
We’re Proactive Leaders and Partners in Protecting the Polar Environment
The polar ships we charter exceed every environmental protocol, including those set by the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) and the Antarctic Treaty, Association of Arctic Expedition Cruise Operators (AECO), National Science Foundation and Environmental Protection Agency. A&K has been a full operating member of IAATO since 1992 and AECO since 2012, and has served on the executive committees for both.
The
International
Association of Antarctica Tour Operators
IAATO has established best practices to ensure that ship-based tourism has minimal impact on the Antarctic environment. A&K has been an active IAATO member for numerous years, with our Expedition Team remaining a steadfast advocate for the preservation of Antarctica’s delicate ecosystems.
The Association of Arctic Expedition Cruise Operators
Like IAATO, AECO is dedicated to managing safe, responsible and environmentally friendly travel in the Arctic. A&K is also an active member of AECO, whose core mission is preserving and protecting the endangered wildlife, delicate landscapes and remote villages of Svalbard, Jan Mayen, Greenland, Arctic Canada and Iceland.
A&K Philanthropy partners with local communities to improve lives and
protect the environment.
Building on a Legacy of Partnership
A&K founder Geoffrey Kent pioneered the communityfirst approach to conservation more than 60 years ago. Today, A&K Philanthropy (AKP) still believes that the best way to protect our planet’s remaining wilderness is to invest in the communities who live there. In alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals, we partner with local communities to improve education, environment, health and enterprise through a global network spanning 24 countries on all seven continents — a philanthropic commitment unequalled in the travel industry.
Our Global Footprint
A&K Philanthropy employs a team of Philanthropy Coordinators stationed throughout the world, dedicated specialists who facilitate our commitment to our community partners and introduce guests to our philanthropic efforts.
Experience an A&K Philanthropy Project Firsthand
A number of our small-group journeys offer opportunities to visit an AKP partner community, affording a wealth of moving experiences you won’t find anywhere else. Look for this symbol for opportunities to visit an A&K Philanthropy project on your A&K journey.
Our projects pioneer transformation in health, education, enterprise and conservation to drive meaningful change and uplift thousands of people around the world. Here are just a few of the ways in which A&K Philanthropy is helping to make a difference.
EDUCATION
Education is the key to equality of opportunity and to the conservation of our whole world. AKP partners with underserved communities to build schools, provide books and free school meals and to foster teacher training programs. The Children of the Rainbow School (Fundacion Niños del Arco Iris) was founded to serve one of these communities in Peru’s Sacred Valley. Alongside literacy and language lessons are sessions on nutrition, personal and social development, and respecting and caring for local plants and wildlife.
ENVIRONMENT
Through education programs with local communities and collaborating with government organisations, A&K Philanthropy promotes the protection of our planet’s fragile ecosystems, from the rainforests of Uganda to the marine reserves of the Galápagos Islands. Save the Albatross is devoted to helping protect the albatross and other Antarctic seabirds from becoming accidentally tangled in deep sea fishing lines.
HEALTH
Safe water is a basic human need. It is a UN Sustainable Development Goal to ensure every human has access to safe and affordable drinking water by 2030, and to this end A&K Philanthropy has invested in the provision of clean-water wells, water filters, and hygiene education. Since 2017, A&K Philanthropy has partnered with LifeStraw, a leader in accessible filtering and purification systems, to provide safe water to thousands of children in India, Kenya, Myanmar, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam and Zambia.
ENTERPRISE
Our community-led enterprise projects are designed to empower people to learn, earn and progress in the destinations where our guests travel. We foster local partnerships to launch start-ups, including the Sishemo Bead Studio in Zambia’s Nakatindi Village, which helps a small group of local women to support their families and community through traditional glass bead-making.
