Marvelous Hobbies with Malcolm Kuzak: Grade 4 How to Set Up Your Own Wood Working zone: You have to get the tools: a screwdriver kit, wood, screws, sandpaper, nails, a hammer and a saw and saw gloves (you need your parents for the sawing parts). An electric screwdriver is even better because it won’t make your wrist tired but do not use an impact driver – they go so fast it went right through the wood! A garage, or a shed or a tree fort are good places to set up your woodworking. Do not let dogs in because my dog jumped over the top of the door, opened the latch and started eating my power tools – and I found them all over the yard! A good first project is to saw liner wood into small cubes (with your parents help) and then sand it with sandpaper until it is smooth. Then you will have blocks, they make good presents.
Why Knitting Should be Your New Hobby When you knit it turns out very nice and it is really satisfying to create something, and if you knit you won’t have to buy a scarf or blanket. You can custom make things to look any way you want.

Story Time with Grace Donaldson, Grade 4 Animal Town Illustration by Layla Sills: Grade 3 Do you ever wonder what your pets are doing when you are somewhere else other than the house? Well this story is about what they do. When you are not there they go into a hidden portal which leads them into an animal world filled with happy animals and fun stuff. It looks like the town that you are living in right now, it has sky scrapers, houses, even ice cream stores, and they have a special kind of chocolate for the dogs. Every pet from cats and dogs to venomous snakes and poisonous frogs are all allowed in the village. Everyone gets along together and the humans will never know what it looks like, until a new cat named orangey the fat cat came in and he was really hyper so hyper that he destroyed so many things by accident. A week later he had destroyed every clock in the village! At first none of the cats realized it was a big deal until later in the day when it was too late they realized without the clocks they didn’t know the time and might not get back before their humans noticed they were gone. They suddenly rushed out when that news spread but it was too late – when they tried to step out of the portal a bunch of humans rushed in and they destroyed everything while screaming their pet’s names, looking for them. By the end of the day only a quarter of the city was standing. It was only at midnight when they stopped, they all did a yawn, walked out of the portal and went to bed, talking in their sleep of their pet’s names. The next day, the humans had slept in for about an hour because they had been up so late destroying everything – working hard. That gave all the pets some time to discuss a plan to fight back before the humans came back and ruined what was

ABERDEEN HALL | THE GLOBAL GRYPHON left of their village. They huddled at the town square, yelling out ideas. A parrot named Squawk winked and suggested he could fly around the human’s heads in circles to make them dizzy. A monkey named Oo Oo Ah Ah suggested that they could chase the humans into the forest, make them climb a tree and hope they accidentally fall out. Brunswick the cat suggested he could meow so loud it would break the human’s ears and then the other animals would be able to sneak up on the humans. Finally, the mayor Mr. Brown bear said “let’s go the human world and play tricks on the humans so they won’t want to come back again”. The birds began the tricks, there were six heavy red paint cans beside a house, six birds picked them up and threw them all over the human’s cars. The humans came out, wondering what was going on and they saw monkeys giggling and laughing at them. The humans got a ladder to climb up to the monkeys but hawks came and grabbed the humans and threw them onto a big mattress. They bounced off and landed in the mud. The bear kind roared and told them, “that will teach you! Do not come to our animal homes again.” From that day on all the humans treated the animals right, and the fat cat had to live in the human world forever. The end!

Fabulous Fashion with Penelope Todd: Grade 1 I made this dress up by looking at a colored feather in my shoebox of materials. I looked at the feather and thought ‘ what if there was a dress that had all these coloured feathers on it’ then I made up this dress that I really like. It’s a plain dress with feathers stuck everywhere. My favourite design is called The Gorgeous Dress, it is a white wedding dress with ruffles and it has a tiara, a vale, long earrings and a sparkly purple cape. I was inspired when I was thinking about my uncle’s wedding from this year. I looked at my auntie Stephanie’s dress in my mind, and thought what if there was a beautiful dress like this one with a long glittering cape?
The Shooting Star Dress was inspired when I was looking outside and it was already dark and I saw a couple stars and I thought ‘what if I invented a dark blue dress with matching earrings covered in stars and moons that glow in the dark?’
The Sway in the Sand Dress w as inspired when I was at my Grandparent’s lake house and was looking down at the water. The skirt is blue and the top is tanned like the sand, the earrings would be half blue, half sand.
