Oliver! was last performed at Aberystwyth Arts Centre in 2005, when local celebrity Taron Egerton starred as the Artful Dodger alongside a host of other talented young performers. Although Taron will not be returning, we are thrilled to welcome back many of the original cast members from 2005 who are now professional actors – and we’re sure more stars of the future will be amongst our new cast of young people! BORTH ARTS 13 April - 13 June Opening - April 18th, 6pm ‘On the Edge’ is an exhibition of work by Borth Arts, a group of artists living and working in Borth and Ynyslas. Using a variety of media and techniques, this diverse group is connected and inspired by the unique environment of Borth – sea, beach, mountains, colour and ever-changing light. Both artists and location are literally on the edge, trapped between the sea and the mountains. Borth Arts grew out of a desire to promote Borth and Borth artists through joint exhibitions and activities. Consequently, the group was established in February 2016. The group’s aim is to support artists living and working locally, not only providing opportunities for exhibiting their work, but also creating opportunities for the sharing of expertise and the learning of new skills. It believes that arts and culture play an important role in the enrichment and wellbeing of the wider community.

LINDA JANE JAMES: INDEFINITY 1 March – 6 May Indefinity is a work developed over the last year by artist Linda Jane James that expresses her feelings about the overwhelming accumulation of materials and waste and the endless, complex and layered consequences of the human need to be productive, to grow and expand. Stuff is rescued from a state of lying- aroundness – material that is leftover, surplus to requirements, unpredictable and unquantifiable, of dubious quality, not yet buried, burned or recycled. These tangible reminders of excess and inefficiency, redundancy, the mismatch between supply and demand, transformed into a work of immense scale and indefinable beauty.

CATRIN DAVIES 20 August - 14 October Within my work, I often refer to the classic painting tradition and use different media to explore and play with this tradition. Symbolism within painting plays an important role in my work. New works combine my paintings and drawings with digital media. Landscape painting is used to represent internal states of being. By animating the images, my intention is to emphasise and bring out the ideas that were initially explored through the drawings. https://catrindavies.carbonmade.com https://www.catrinandlewis.com)

CERAMICS GALLERY

KATE HAYWOOD, THE LANGUAGE OF CLAY: TRACES 13 April - 9 June Kate Haywood’s exquisite porcelain forms are at once assured and delicate. Made with keen attention to detail, each form is precise and elegant. Kate has a passion for objects, sometimes hand-held objects, often objects from the past. She scours museum collections and researches archives to identify intriguing pieces and purposes. Kate’s recent work is inspired by children’s games, games from a time when they were more readily played in the street than they might be today. Combining her ceramic sculptures with other materials adds layers of reference and appeal. Everyone will recognise different traces in her new body of work. The Language of Clay is a series of national touring exhibitions organised by Mission Gallery and funded by the Arts Council of Wales.
