Electrifying new dance-circus from Motionhouse. Charge, Motionhouse’s incredible new multimedia show is inspired by the role of electricity in the human body. From the electrical charge that sparks human life, to the beating of our hearts and the memories we make, six performers use dance and acrobatics to delve deep into the human body, tracing the incredible story of energy in our lives. Digital projections create a world on stage where dancers and images interact seamlessly, bringing to life stories of energy in our own bodies and humans as energy manipulators. In an exciting fusion of art and science, Kevin Finnan worked with Professor Frances Ashcroft and her team at the University of Oxford to to inspire the show. | Ysbrydolir y sioe aml-gyfrwng newydd anhygoel hon gan rôl trydan yn y corff dynol. Harry Gibson’s original stage adaptation was instantly successful and controversial and won the Sunday Times Award for Best New Play. NT CONNECTIONS FESTIVAL Saturday 10 March | Dydd Sadwrn 10 Mawrth |
£7 (£5)
Connections is the National Theatre’s annual festival of new plays for youth theatres and schools. It gives young people experience of professional theatre-making. Their experience mirrors that of a company producing a new play in any theatre in the country. They create marketing campaigns, design sets and costumes, operate lighting and sound boards, stage-manage their performances. Each year the Connections team travels the length and breadth of the country to support and encourage the participants – the drama teachers and youth theatre directors who take on the challenge of staging a new play, and the young theatre companies. Each year we are thrilled by the skill, creativity, commitment and passion that go into each production, often on a shoestring budget and a rehearsal schedule carved out around school commitments. 5.30pm Ysgol Aberconwy: THE CHANGING ROOM by Chris Bush. 6.15pm Aberystwyth Arts Centre Youth Theatre: CEASEFIRE BABIES by Fiona Doyle. 7pm Christ College Brecon: THESE BRIDGES by Phoebe Éclair Powell | Gŵyl flynyddol Theatr Genedlaethol Lloegr o ddramâu newydd ar gyfer theatrau ieuenctid ac ysgolion yw Connections. We’re Here Because We’re Here 20 January – 14 April | 20 Ionawr – 14 Ebrill An exhibition that documents ‘We’re here because we’re here’, an event that took place on 1st July 2016, where thousands of volunteers participated in a UK-wide contemporary memorial to mark the centenary of the Battle of the Somme. Commissioned by 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War centenary, the work was conceived and created by Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller in collaboration with Rufus Norris, Director of the National Theatre. Produced by Birmingham Repertory Theatre and the National Theatre, in collaboration with 23 UK theatres. | Arddangosfa sy’n dogfennu ‘We’re here because we’re here’, gweithgaredd a ddigwyddodd ar 1af Gorffennaf 2016, pryd y bu miloedd o wirfoddolwyr ledled y DU yn cymryd rhan mewn achlysur cyfoes i nodi canmlwyddiant Brwydr y Somme. Suzie Larke – In the Mind’s Eye 21 April – 22 July | 21 Ebrill – 22 Gorffenaf “My project is an attempt to visualise depression and anxiety through conceptual photography. One of the problems with mental illness is that the symptoms are often not outwardly apparent. My work is inspired by personal experience, creating imagery as a means of translating feelings that are difficult to put into words. I hope to raise awareness of depression and promote a greater understanding of the spectrum of experiences.” This project is for those who have been affected by mental health issues and those who might be in the future – in effect for everyone. | Ymdrech yw fy mhrosiect i ddarlunio iselder a phoen meddwl trwy ffotograffiaeth gysyniadol. Un o’r problemau gyda salwch meddyliol yw nad yw’r symptomau bob tro yn amlwg o’r tu allan. Ysbrydolwyd fy ngwaith gan brofiad personol, yn creu delweddaeth fel ffordd o ddehongli teimladau sy’n anodd i’w rhoi mewn geiriau.
