(Keiichi Hara, Japan 2015, 93mins, subtitled) Set in early 19th century Japan, this animation brings to life the story of O-Ei, the daughter of the ukiyo-e master Katsushika Hokusai (globally famous for his piece The Great Wave). O-Ei is the inheritor of both her father’s stubbornness and his talent, which ultimately leads her into trouble.

Jonas Kaufman: An Evening with Puccini

On the 14th June German tenor Jonas Kaufmann walked onto the stage of La Scala Milan, the home of Italian opera, for one of the most highly anticipated performances of 2015. Cinema audiences can now experience this revealing introduction to Puccini – the man, the musician, the superstar – narrated by Jonas and featuring rare archive footage. 130mins approx. £13/£11 (special £10 silver screening on 17th).

After the lunch box she packed for her daughter becomes a huge hit at school, she decides to try and open her own bento shop, offering inexpensive but delicious food.
