The Lost City of Z

(James Gray, UK 2017, 141mins) This highly acclaimed drama tells the incredible true story of British explorer Percy Fawcett who, in the early 1900s, journeyed deep into the Amazon convinced he’d find traces of a long-lost civilisation, despite ridicule by the scientific establishment back home.

(Lone Scherfig, UK 2016, AD, 117mins) Bill Nighy and Gemma Arterton star in this crowd-pleasing wartime comedy. In an attempt to boost morale, the UK government decide their films need a “woman’s touch”, and hire Welsh scriptwriter Catrin Cole (Arterton) to step in.
