George Bugatti And Vincent Falcone Recreate The Tony Bennett And Bill Evans Recordings: A 40th Anniversary Celebration
Tony Bennett and Bill Evans had first met in 1962, when both were performing (though not together) in a special jazz event on The White House lawn (during the Kennedy years). In June 1975, 13 years after their first meeting, Tony Bennett and Bill Evans got together at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley CA; Evans had asked Tony to come to the studio alone, with no cronies and no sidemen. As a result, not only were there no bassist or
drummer present, but practically no one else was there either. The only people in the studio were the two principals plus engineer Don Cody and Evans’s manager, Helen Keane. While Ms. Keane was nominally credited as producer, it was Bennett and Evans who selected the tunes, worked out the arrangements semi-spontaneously, and picked the final takes to be used. The result of this session was The Tony Bennett Bill Evans album; Followed by another session a year later. Both albums are acknowledged in the jazz world as the quintessential and important vocal/piano collection. As we moveCalendar into the month of Of Events October, I wanted to take the time to revisit the topic of Medicare. As a member of the Senate Remembering Nevada Aging Committee and the Senate Finance Committee, which have jurisdiction over Medicare, I believe this program isHappy crucial Holidays to keeping our nation’s seniors happy and healthy, without overwhelming medical costs. Starting this month, Medicare recipients are able to make certain changes to their accounts. Open enrollment for Medicare Parts C and D for 2016 runs from October 15th to December 7th. I want to ensure that Nevadans remain up-to-date on what Medicare plan best fits their needs, and my office is here as a resource should you have questions. Medicare has four key parts to understand. Medicare Part A is hospital insurance that covers inpatient care in hospitals, home health care, nursing home care, and hospice care. Medicare Part
B is medical insurance that covers services for doctors’ visits, preventive services, medical equipment, outpatient care, and home health care. Original or Traditional Medicare includes both Parts A and B. Additional benefits through a Medicare Advantage or Medigap plan can be purchased under Part C. This may be helpful if you have growing health needs that traditional Medicare may not cover. This also generally includes prescription drug coverage, much like Medicare Part D. Part D is Medicare prescription drug coverage and is also run by Medicare-approved private insurance companies. The open enrollment period beginning on October 15th allows Medicare beneficiaries to enroll or make changes to their Medicare Part C and Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage Part D for 2016. During this time, Medicare recipients can: Not That Old And Loving It!
• Change from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan • Change from a Medicare Advantage Plan back to Original Medicare • Switch between Medicare Advantage Plans • Change from one Medicare Advantage Plan that does not offer drug coverage to one that does, or vice versa • Join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan • Switch from one Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to another • Drop Medicare prescription drug coverage completely (Penalties could apply if you eventually re-enroll) The open enrollment period addressing Original Medicare runs from January 1st to March 31st. During this time, seniors can switch from a Medicare Advantage Plan to Original Medicare, with a deadline of February 14th to join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan.
Not That Old And Loving It!
As a reminder, enrollment continues year-round for newly-eligible seniors. I hope you find this information helpful. If you or any other Nevadans are facing difficulties with this program, my staff and I would be happy to assist you. To reach my Las Vegas office, please call (702) 388-6605. I also encourage you to call (800) MEDICARE or visit http://www.medicare.gov/ to review your coverage options. Additionally, should you have questions regarding which plan will be best for you, the State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) is available to offer assistance in comparing plans– at no cost to you. SHIP can be contacted statewide at (800) 307-4444, and additional information is also available on SHIP’s website at http://adsd.nv.gov/Programs/Seniors/SHIP/ SHIP_Prog/. +

Temecula, established in 1859, is one of the most historic communities in Southern California. From Indian village to mission outpost, from Mexican rancho to crossroads settlement, from railroad town to modern city, the story of Temecula is rich and varied. Temecula is the only city in California to still retain its original Indian name. The hillsides of Temecula were the home of Temecula Indians, the first residents of the area. a barrel of monkeys. If you could duplicate the magic of the track, you’d be a billionaire.”
Happy Holidays
Dick Cobb, who won the track title in 1980 and 1982, might have said it best when he stated “We didn’t know how good we had it.” Endless colorful stories remain including the night of Friday, Sept. 13, 1968. North Las Vegas police showed up wanting to close the track after Bob Ruppert and Wulfenstein flew through the fourth turn wall (it was actually plywood) and into the parking lot wrecking several cars. As the story goes, a CRS official waved a pistol at the surprised cop, who climbed into his patrol car and ran for his life.
Big-time names like Dick Trickle invaded Craig Road Speedway during Fall Open Comp events each October.
Then, there was the time that Ruppert won a race before heading straight for the pits where he climbed the fence, hopped into a waiting getaway car and escaped officials of the Internal Review Service. Indeed, the ghosts of Craig Road are still present in North Las Vegas. The pig farm lives on and when the wind is right, you can tell by the smell that the closing of Craig Road Speedway came way too early. +

What to Look for Calendar Of Events When Hiring a Handyman
Calendar Of Events
Remembering Nevada
Happy Holidays
Hiring a handyman can make you want to pull your hair out. Unfortunately, that’s totally normal. The easiest way to approach this is to break it down a bit. You want to have a good understanding of the exact work you need done so you know what kind of handyman you are looking for. The word handyman is an umbrella for many things. It’s important to remember that a handyman is just that. He’s handy to help with many home projects. However, not all handymen are experienced plumbers, electricians, or tradesmen of any sort for that matter. Here are a few things to look for when hiring a handyman.
Specialty It’s important to find a handyman that specializes, or at least has a lot of experience, in the type of work you want done. Ask them about similar projects they have completed locally. A good handyman who is experienced in the line of work you need done should always have local references, but we’ll get to that. Ask about prior projects they have completed.

October/November 2015
Sometimes they will even have pictures they can show you. Now days everyone has a smart phone and many handymen that are proud of their work will take pictures.
References Definitely ask for references, but ask specifically for local references. Many handymen rely on word of mouth for their advertising. A trustworthy handyman will be able to provide you with some good local references. If this particular handyman was not referred by a friend or neighbor, don’t be afraid to actually call the references he provides. Most of them will not mind. Nothing will set your mind more at ease than a reference who tells Not That Old And Loving It!
you that the handyman you are considering showed up on time, did good work, and didn’t try to rake them over the coals when it came time to pay up.
Licensed, Insured, and Bonded The handyman that you hire should be all of these things and he should be able to provide proof. It is for your protection and for his. This is not negotiable. If you hire a handyman who is not properly insured and he gets injured while working on your property, then you are liable. He should have his own insurance to cover this. It should also cover him if there is accidental damage to your property while he is working. Accidents happen all the time. They cannot always be prevented but your handyman should have the proper insurance to correct them without further headache or liability on your part.
the charges should be transparent. You should know if he is charging by the hour or by the job. You should also be able to see the exact price of the materials involved. Nothing is more insulting than a handyman who goes to the local hardware store and then tries to mark up the price of materials by thirty percent. On the flip side, you do need to be willing to pay an honest wage for good work.
Guarantee
Pricing and Scheduling
Ask about a guarantee or a warranty for the work being done. Of course, it will vary with the type of work being performed. However, you do want a handyman that does good work and stands behind it. If there is a failure in the workmanship provided, you need to know that it will be corrected at no charge. It’s also good to set a time frame. Should this specific problem arise, it will be addressed in a certain number of days. This should also be in writing and a good handyman won’t mind providing it.
An experienced handyman will be able to provide these up front and in writing. This is not inconvenient, and if it is, then he is not the right one. Your handyman should be able to provide you with a written estimate for both labor and materials in addition to a proposed time schedule for the work to be done. All of
If you follow these steps then you should find a good handyman. Don’t let yourself be clouded by excuses why this or that cannot be provided. These things are non-negotiable. They are for your protection and for his. A good, experienced handyman won’t blink an eye because he’ll be used to it.
