After completing three years in the course I have developed a fine understanding of the process of development of space and form from a simple idea with respect to human scale. Centre for Youth A centre for youth with Library as the main function.
PROJECT BRIEF Centre for youth is the project completed in Design studio in semester 6. It is an individual project. The site given is located in the city of Vadodara, India. It is a part of an industrial compound, where there are various residential quarters for the employess, sports grounds, restuarants and cafeteria. The task of the studio was to create a centre for youth with having library as the function and some secondary supporting functions.I chose cafeteria and amphitheatre as the secondary functions. The ideology behind the design was to create an organic arrangement of the library and the secondary functions. To create interactive spaces between the functions so that the young minds get exposed and eventually attracted to the library and the idea of reading.
Academic DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
The following diagram represents the rigid and monotonous massing that many libraries posses.
The following diagram represents that how the rigidity is broken and the functions are separated. Interactive spaces are created in the voids of the built.
The following diagram represents how further the blocks are separated according to the functions required. Library, cafeteria and admin are the major functions.
The following diagram represents how further different geometry has been explored and solid planes have been added in order to provide a sense of direction. The cafeteria is been made circular in order give a bigger horizon for external view.

PLACES OF GOVERNANCE Municipal Headquarters.
PROJECT BRIEF Municipal corporation is the project completed in Design studio in semester 7. It is an ten week long individual project. The task was to design a headquarters for the municipal corporation of Vadodara city, India. The program required auditorium, conference rooms, admin rooms, various office areas and a cafeteria. The ideology behind the design was to create a building which is not only authoritative but also people inclusive. An environment where the people feel sense of diversity, sense of ownership, active citizenship and development. For the development of design, voids were created in formal spaces so that various interactive and common spaces are created. A water body was oriented between the formal spaces that creates a nice informal area between the formal spaces, hence breaking the monotony and rigidity in the building. SITE LOCATION

Academic DESIGN DEVELOPMENT The given model represents, hierarchy, balance, unique from the surrounding and authoritative properties, that should be there in a governing space.
Scattering the functions of the space, creating gaps or voids for community interaction.
The given model represents active citizenship, diversity and sense of ownership. The coloured strips represent the vast diverse culture of the country.
Adding informal spaces between formal spaces, hence breaking the rigidity of the form.
The given model represents, a variation between the current scenario and how it can be changed by inducing active citizenship and people involvement. By breaking the rigidity and the boundaries that exist between the government and a common man.
Creating interactive, peaceful spaces near each formal space. Introducing water body as the focal point of informal spaces.
This model represents all major keywords related to an ideal place of governance. The circular structure along with smaller square frame merging in the main cuboid show diversity and active participation of people in helping the government function more efficiently. The ascending sizes of the square frame represents hierarchy. The bigger square supported by minimum members represents balance. In the same way the smaller members represent the common mass, and the sense of boundary is removed. The government and the governing space should inspire people to grow and advance.

URBAN INSERT Visitor Centre
PROJECT BRIEF Urban Insert - Visitor centre is the project completed in Design Studio in semester 7. It is a four week long individual project. The task was to design a Visitor centre for the city of Vadodara. The site given is situated in a very crowded area of Vadodara city. The surrounding landmarks were the railway station and bus depot of the city, making the site vicinity very congested and crowded. The ideology behind the design was to create a buffer from the surroundings and create a space in it that develops a sense of curiosity and appreciation in the minds of visitors. This idea of curiosity channelled into a series of movement and pauses that showcased different cultural, social and scenic aspects of the city. A water body was oriented in the design and an open plan style was used, being inspired by master architects Tadao Ando and Mies Van der Rohe.

The given Diagram represents the division of sub-blocks from the initial block. Division based on the number major functions required,namely entrance, office, exhibit area and cafeteria.
The given Diagram represents the division and re-sizing and rearrangement of sub-blocks from the initial block. Re-sizing based on the area required for functions. Re-arrangement in order to create a series of movement and pauses.
The given Diagram represents the further development of design after adding planes to give a sense of direction and divide spaces. Re-modelling of sub-blocks according to the movement chain. Implementation of water body and open plan scheme.

ADVANCED CONSTRUCTION STUDY OF THE MARACANA STADIUM
PROJECT BRIEF
Academic PROCESS IMAGES
The Maracana Stadium project completed in semester 7. It is 6 week long group project (4 members). The task of the project was to study the structural system of the Maracana Stadium of Brazil in detail and represent the study in the form of model, which should represent the acting forces and load-bearing strategies. The Maracana was originally built using reinforced concrete. It has an oval shape and consists of two tiers divided by medium-sized open boxes. A cantilevered roof spanning 30m covers 34 rows at the rear of the stadium. The stadium reconstruction contract was awarded to Maracanã Rio 2014 Consortium which included Odebrecht Infraestrutura, Delta Construção and Andrade Gutierrez.

PROJECT BRIEF The Laurie baker project was a related study program completed in the year 2020. The related study included the study, measure drawing and documentation of some heritage buildings designed by British Indian architect Laurie Baker, in Vadodara city, India. The following images represent the documented measure drawings of the admin block building of Jyoti Ltd. in Vadodara designed by Laurie Baker. The related study project was completed by a team of seven students guided by Prof. Pragya Shankar, School of Environmental Architecture and Design, Navrachana Univeristy, Vadodara, India.
