0 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)  WHERE IS CHENNAI LOCATED? Chennai is located on the south eastern coast of India. Its is one of the Metropolitan cities and capital of the state, Tamilnadu.

 WHAT KIND OF A CITY IS IT? It is one of the oldest cities earlier known as MADRAS during the british rule. It is the city of people, cultures and is Detroit of India.  WHAT IS IT FAMOUS FOR? Chennai is famous for its 2nd longest coastline in the world, The Marina Beach. Apart from that, the ancient temples building and recently a lot for its development in IT sector.  WHAT ARE CHENNAI PEOPLE LIKE? Like anywhere in the world, the people of chennai ( most of them) are friendly and homely. They will help you if you ask them. An average number of Chennai people can speak andd understand decent english. Yes even the rickshaw riders.  WHAT WILL THE WORKING HOURS BE? Normally the working hours for an NGO is 9-5 but depending upon clients discretion it can be lesser but not more. Saturdays and Sundays are weekly holidays. But in some NGOs saturdays can be working. For GIP/NEP the company has its own norms and you will have to accept to them (maximum working hours 8-9 hours) AIESEC in Chennai.


0 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)  WHAT IS THE DISTANCE FROM WORK PLACE TO MY PLACE OF STAY? If the Accommodation is provided by the NGO then place of work shall be not more than 5-10 kms of travel. In, GIP the distance can vary.  MODE OF TRANSPORTATION or transportation facility in Chennai? Chennai is well connected in its system of Local buses, local train and Share autos(Rickshaw). Also, if you plan on making long distance travels you can get a vehicle for yourself else there is a network of paid taxi. Fastrack Taxi : 044-24732020 044-28889999  Yes, Within a week of your arrival in Chennai you will be given a SIM( documents to be provided Passport and Visa copy, Passport size photo(2) and call letter from AIESEC or Client ( along with Address).  WHAT KIND OFF SAFTEY MEASURES I WILL HAVE TO TAKE? If you are travelling to any part of the city after 9pm till 6am please travel in groups or inform an AIESECer. We recommend you inform an AIESECer all the time about your whereabouts.

0 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)  What kind of food can I expect in Chennai? Food in India is spicy as compared to general food that you have had in your home. You, will get used to it. Chennai specialises in Dosas, Idlis, Upama, Tamarind rice, lemon rice, Uthapam. Try your hand at the same. We have a ricj=h influence of the Middle east when it comes to Kebabs, tandoori and non-vegetarian food.   What kind of climate will I see? Being a coastal city chennai is humid (70%- 100%) and the morning are pleasant. Summer begins from the month of March and goes on till late August. Winter is not much evident, but nights can be pleasant sometime. Being a coastal region, Rain can be expected any moment.

Government authorised meter system to calculate the bill for travel. The minimum price to travel will be 25 INR. Do not try and bargain. Don’t go in for hand sign agreement, they will end up befooling you. You can always take the support of police officials to complain about the auto rider. The city has a good system of share autos. It is much better to use that. The maximum that you will be charged is 30 INR.
