Undergraduate Capstone Reclaiming Our Bodies Year: Fall 2021 - Spring 2022 Media: Rhinocerous, Illustrator, Photoshop, Enscape, Hand-modeling My body is not your political playground. In a country perceived to be the world’s greatest democracy, women’s sexual and reproductive rights have been under attack. Women are less and less seen as human beings. The title of my story is Reclaiming Our Bodies, a study that combines my passion for women’s rights and social justice through a design lens by creating an immersive, mobile installation that explores the spaces of the female body which are centers of decision making, desire, and control in order to strive for a better humanity. Women*- In this thesis, the term “woman” is used as an umbrella term for any person with a womb, capable of becoming pregnant, and who identifies as femme.

Public space and the street can be a powerful political tool for change, a place to gather, to have a voice and to be seen. The exhibition will travel to different cities and a variety of demographics, in hopes of connecting to a broad spectrum of audiences. Shipping containers host the exhibition- their modular and mobile nature creates for easy compact and transport.

The Objectification Room Women’s bodies are seen as a vessel for visual pleasure. Women are reduced to their body parts, rather than a whole, simply to be looked at or touched. A series of cameras positioned in five different locations project parts of the users bodies onto monitors.
Model & Material Studies Model making became a crucial part of discovering the narrative from early on in the process. I experimented with synthetics, fabrics, bioplastics, casting, and paper mache. Objectification, Dissembodiment
Policy Womb
War on the Womb: Controlling the Reproductive Body What is it like to experience one of the most politicized spaces? Throughout most of human history women have been defined primarily by their fertility. War on the Womb aims to show the womb as a space of invasion, control, and decision making.

Policy
Sensory
Women’s reproductive bodies are enshrined with law. The policy container is a very technical, impersonal space representing production, surveillance, law, and control. Women are seen as factories to reproduce, nonliving, non-feeling beings.

Retail Project The Sel Year: Fall 2020, Third Year Location: New Hope, PA Media: Rhinocerous, Grasshopper, Autodesk Revit, Enscape, Photoshop, Indesign
The goal was to design a retail atmosphere in New Hope, Pennsylvania, a small town North of Philadelphia, that takes into consideration the demographics of the area and recent retail trends. The site for exploration is an existing former church with large, soaring spaces. Important considerations included engaging the community in a unique way related to the store to increase clientele and maintaining connection throughout the design. The examination of threedimensional spatial relationships between the three levels was essential.

Sustainable Office Headquarters Infil Year: Spring 2021, Third Year Location: Philadelphia Naval Yard Media: Autodesk Revit, Rhinocerous, Grasshopper, Enscape, Photoshop, Indesign
Located in the Philadelphia Naval Yard, three organizations - The Coalition for Delaware River Watershed, the Delaware River Watershed Initiative, and the Alliance for Watershed Education of the Delaware River are working to prevent pollution in the local watershed. This location was chosen due to its proximity to the Delaware River Watershed. Designing spaces that are immersive experiences for people while incorporating sustainability and preservation was a primary design goal. ‘Green Design’ principles were used extensively throughout.

Concept Statement Intrigued by water quality and runoff, this office design investigates how water infiltrates through impervious and pervious surfaces. The concept dissects this notion of infiltration as the users and spaces filter from something whole and collaborative, to more seperate, quiet, and individual spaces.
