Immobile Movement
Tabletop collection inspired by the work of Spanish artist Joan Miro. Taking inspiration from Spanish culture and abstract art, this tabletop set was designed for dining in a tapas restaurant, where eating is a communal event.
Abstraction Community Old World vs. New World
Abstraction of Pride Earning international acclaim, Miro’s work has been interpreted as Surrealism, a re-creation of the childlike, and a manifestation of Catalan and Spanish pride.
2D to 3D These tabletop pieces were inspired by Joan Miro’s paintings and sensitivity to Spanish culture. Through observing his work, 2D abstract shapes were taken into 3D through sketching.
Food as Color These forms are made of clear glass and porcelain with a white glaze. The vibrant colors of the food housed on and inside the forms are what bring color to the white palette.

Generating Heat Through Bio-Mimicry The vessel and trivet’s forms speak to the center of the lotus flower--the area that generates the most heat. Through biomimicry, the act of heating food becomes a social experience.
MORF.
a cruet set for seasoning, dressing and dipping Third place winner for the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Collab Student Design Competition, Fall 2010.
Taking inspirational cues from genetics and the differences between parent and child--these four forms are born from the same abstract shape, then modified based on how the user interacts with the object. Each object is created through the mixing of abstract elements to create similar forms that speak to the genetics of a family of objects.
Mixing Elements to Create Something New Same but Different Parts of a Whole

‘ster-tators
monster stuffed animals Designed for a Needle, Thread and Cloth class project; these monster stuffed animals use texture and pattern as well as vintage buttons to create a vibrant form.
Aurelia Aurita
Pendant Lighting Designed for Simon Pearce Taking inspiration from biological organisms such as bacteria and ocean creatures like barnacles and jelly fish, Aurelia Aurita pendant lighting was designed with grouping and patterning in mind to create a textured lighting effect.
Grouped Patterned Textured
Sketch: Production The shade and ceiling mount sketches were formed by pinching and gathering sheets of foam to produce a volumetric surface quality that was then translated into their cyllindraical form. A similar process would be used to form the pendants in glass--forming through use of a mold, then hand altered to change the form.
Textured Light Through mixing different finishes--clear, sandblasted and milky-white-- in a set, the light quality changes; becoming more textured and dynamic. These pendants were designed to be grouped together so the gesture of their forms can speak to one another or to create a statement as a single installation.
