Introduction

Metrica Interior has provided transformation to properties for more than 15 years. The strong performance of Qatar’s economy and the expected boom in construction to meet the country’s major events, rose the need for a cutting edge Architectural and Interiors company that can support this growth with innovative high quality products and services. With the acquisition of Metrica in Germany, GSSG has been transforming Al Bateel Interiors into the leading Architectural and Interiors company in Qatar, with international standards and exposure. The combination of 330 years experience in Germany with more than 15 years of experience in Qatar resulted in a new company: Metrica Interior.

Driven by strong vision, the company setup it’s first factory in 1998. This ambitious beginning has evolved to a successful state-of-the-art factory with the ability to deliver large scale projects. As envisaged in Qatar National Vision 2030, and to strike a balance between economical growth and protection of the environment, we have received FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification. This ensures that timber, used to deliver our high quality products, are procured from sustainable forests. Our passionate team of specialists strive to achieve our customer’s needs for high quality interiors by combining craftsmanship and the latest technology.

Fire-Rated Doors Halspan BS 476 Firedoors Introduction Halspan 3-layer particle board has been designed for use in the fabrication of solid core doors. A complex combination of chemical and engineering development has resulted in the superior quality and strength of Halspan high performance timber door blanks. Produced on one of the world’s most advanced CPS systems to ensure continuity of quality for the product. It is this expertise that sets Halspan above other door constructions.

Solid Wood Lippling with FR intumescent Seal

Halspan door blanks have been ready tested for use in the manufacture of fire doors. By using Halspan in the construction of flush or panelled doors, Halspan’s pre-test programme readily enables the inclusion of fire doors of the same style and finish as the standard, non-fire door specification. These high standards, applied in making Halspan door blanks, also apply to Halspan’s technical support. Literature and advice provide a continuity of quality right through, from manufacture to installation.

FR Core Material

A Greener Alternative For some time now it has been known that the formaldehyde type resins typically used to glue/bond timber building and panel products, such as plywood, MDF, chipboard and wood laminate, carry health risks. Although inert when fully cured, Phenol Formaldehyde for instance is hazardous to use; so much so that you need a licence to import it in some countries. Urea and Melamine Formaldehyde, meanwhile, continue to give off emissions even after they’re cured, leading to sickness and headaches. This has led to a demand for ‘no added formaldehyde’ products (‘no added’ rather than ‘free from’ since a small amount of formaldehyde is naturally present in wood) and for ways of assessing environmental performance. In the UK, BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) sets the standard, while in the US it’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Developed in response to these concerns, Halspan Prima Plus – With No Added Formaldehyde – is produced to the same exacting standards as our regular Prima, but uses Polyurethane instead of the more traditional Urea Formaldehyde binder. A ‘greener’ alternative, Halspan Prima Plus minimizes formaldehyde emissions and improves indoor air quality, complying with both BREEAM and LEED environmental standards.

North American codes (NFPA 252, ANSI UL10(c), UBC 7-2 & CAN4 S104) are component based codes for a range of standard door set items from the door leaf and frame to the hardware installed in a variety of uses, standard doors, double egress doors and emergency exit doors. Each component is tested and then given a code category A – E, derived from the openings in the type of separating elements in which they are designed to be used (See NFPA 80 and the details below) thus allowing a greater freedom for interchangeability.
